    Kudos from one bone head to another. Nice tone, intonation, dynamics. Heck of a piece to memorize. Enjoyed that performance. :)

      Seems like an exercise almost. Kind of lifeless and dutiful.

    I played this piece at the Southeastern Michigan Solo and Ensemble Competition in 1976.
    It was transcribed by Robert Marsteller. The music cost $3.00; I have it here in front of me.
    Not this well of course......

    There is no record of Handel having composed any concerto for trombone. In fact he only used the instrument in a couple of his operas. The piece being played here has been transcribed from another of his compositions.

      minden fugleman yes you are right. That's a oboe concerto originally.

    Nikola, what kind of trombone is that. Looks like a Getzen with F attachment. Does it have a rose brass bell?

    Classical music is underrated

    Also adding to Indoctus41,
    (Only touching on the second movement because thats the piece i remember)
    lots of rushing after the first phrase starting with the Eb Ab eighth notes going to the sustained high Ab. There was a few fudged rhythms but shit like that happens on stage. otherwise it was a nice performance!

    What is the thing on the end of the trombone that he messes with in between parts where he plays? I love Handel, but I'm not familiar with the trombone. Is that where you let the spit out?

    • @nocturnallsnake4228
      @nocturnallsnake4228 7 років тому +5

      not spit but kind of. it is the air of a player's breathing that condensate in the brass. should happen more with colder weather.

    The trombone existed in the days of Handel?

      Alto Saxophonist Erik Karl trombone appeared far below the Handel times - in XV century, under the name "sackbut".

      +Alto Saxophonist Erik Karl This concerto is actually for oboe I think

      +Quinn Parker it was originally a oboe concerto No.3 in g minor! :)

    • @andiheinrich2830
      @andiheinrich2830 6 років тому +1

      sackbut is just the english name for early trombones. so each language has its own name

      OK, I play both oboe and trombone. Oboe for classical music and bone for band. Given that there is scarce classical music for trombone, give us a break.

      Да, были небольшие призвуки в некоторых нотах в самом начале при атаке, но это ничего страшного. Сами же ноты не были фальшиво сыграны.
