I've just discovered Denise Mina by accident ( tartan noir recommendation) and was shocked how great her writing is ! Then I read her bio and understood ( google her ) she has so much knowledge & also compassion I find myself actually caring about these characters. It's been years since I've devoured a book like I do hers ! As an Alabama native, I love that her love of reading began w Harper Lee( from AL)
