I am probably older than your grandmother, but I started following you guys when you did the lake mead updates. I thought the help you generated for the man whose boat was stuck was awesome. And I started following them, Heavy D. I am not into hunting, or fishing much, but I do watch all your videos because they are interesting. And big kudos to your dad for being with his kids and teaching them survival as well as raising wonderful, respectful, young men. He should be very proud.

I'm pretty sure the tube fossils are from "feather worms" (Sabellidae) The fossil isn't the animal itself but the protective casing it builds from calcium around itself. The small rings in the stone are the bases of many feather worm casings. When the worm dies, or in rare cases when it moves to a different location, the calcium casing eventually breaks or wares down to the base where it attaches to the rock.
During the Cretaceous period, where you found these fossils was a "shallow", inland sea that divided North America into two separate land masses. It's believed now by some that a catastrophic draining of this inland sea is what gouged out the Grand Canyon rather than slow erosion from the Colorado River. In any case, the fossils are evidence that the area was once covered by a body of salt water.

Thanks for the deep dive, that was awesome you taught me something I didn’t know!😊🖤
Not only are those fossils proof that the area was underwater but so are the Trona Pinnacles in Southern California. The desert area in Trona National Park is very similar to Nevada and Arizona’s desert(s). It’s so cool to think about how different our earth looked millions of years ago 😊🖤.

I liked you pointing out the clam shell fossils because we know that the earth was totally different. Also there are a lot of these shells in Simi Valley hills..

  • @sparkytuttle2966
    @sparkytuttle2966 4 місяці тому +4

I love, love the shells you found. That's far better than the monolith. SIDE NOTE ( I bet you had no idea that our Frenchman mountain is a very rare mountain in the world because it shows the different patterns of lift from the earth changing.) This valley has been a volcano and also a huge inland lake. The earth has cycles that it goes through every 6,000 and 12,000 years. There are shorter and longer cycles in between. This was a lush valley at one time , as evidenced by the woolly mammoth and other fossils found in this area. I had no clue you could drive up as far as you did on Gas Peak. Love that the Eagle was chatting with you. Beautiful video. Thank you.😊

I've been watching geology videos on UA-cam and, yep, you were looking at an ancient salt water beach coastline that probably goes on for many miles, not counting what has eroded away. All those mountains towering over you were once also burying that very spot that you were standing, and have since eroded away by rain and wind, re-exposing that beach that probably hadn't seen the light of day for a hundred million years, or so. Nice find!
Personally I think the monoliths are used to find and recruit people with over-the-top tracking skills that might be useful in intelligence careers, studying satellite photos and such. Why interview 10,000 candidates when the right guy for the job will come flying in on a hang-glider, all by himself?

2 hours till treatment for a rattlesnake envenomation isn't that bad. You will survive. Your chances of dying from rock fall, or tripping and falling on this hike is a higher risk than even getting bit by a rattlesnake. Your drive to this site and back home was the most dangerous thing you did that day. A helicopter would be a good idea but it wouldn't be necessary. When I was envenomated by a southwestern speckled rattlesnake I drove 1 hour to the hospital in Barstow. They gave me 6 vials of antivenin there then flew me to Loma Linda which is one of the top hospitals in the nation for rattlesnake envenomation.

Most rattlesnakes bite are not venomous to kill. If you step on one or are purposely antagonizing them, then they will bite to kill, otherwise death by accident rattlesnake encounters are extremely rare, yet the fear is the big thing with inexperienced hikers.

P.S. From my little house in Akron, O; that must be the most amazing, primitive land-all that at that elevation was under water. I did wonder about that when you showed those "caves", but I think you found proof. And that bird fossil was astonishing. How fortunate you are to have these timeless items at your feet, and how lucky you are to have such an amazing father who makes sure you don't miss a thing. I love this channel.

The idea of the mysterious monolith started with the 1968 Stanly Kubric film "2001 a Space Odyssey". It was used as a metaphor that represented moments in the evolution of mankind. The latest monolith of which you were seeking was more than likely a hoax brought on by an act some mischievous mankind.
I saw the movie twice in my life with the most recent viewing being late in 2022. It amazes me how good that movie still looks for being filmed way back in 1968.

Haven’t seen you guys doing a lot of fishing this year. But I did enjoy this video. I live in Kingman and I saw on the news where they said that somebody had taken it. They didn’t say it was the police though. Maybe it was the military and they took it back over to area 51.can you guys take care😊

The monolith exists, but it's like the fortress/castle in Krull. It moves every 24 hours to random spots around the earth.

@8:40 - definitely a clam shell, from back when that was part of an ocean most likely! Good eyes! If you don't find it I'm calling Dave Sparks, he'll likely mount up in his Black Hawk heli and give it a look!
I'm jumped too fast lol - sent Dave Sparks a msg before getting to the end of your video....he'll figure it out though since I included a link to this video lol. Great episode guys!!!

@9:38 that is a Horseshoe Crab fossil. Obviously, the entire desert was once under water. That's why it is so similar to the ocean floor. Also this explains why the mountains have descending rings, like the shoreline of a lake or large body of water .

Those broken fossil shells with the hole in the top?
Perhaps barnacles, they come pre made with the hole in the top.
That parallel stick fossil, maybe razor clam?

those fossils came there because one day that was the see and then earthquakes make those mountains. the earts plates shifted on top of each other and the stuff that was one time on the bottom of the ocean is now in the top of a mountain.
