We have that same plant reed type of fossils in Oklahoma a great friend of mine removed one 12” long from a natural tunnel ! It’s now in a museum ! I am not an expert but I was told it’s 450 Million years old !
I'm pretty sure the tube fossils are from "feather worms" (Sabellidae) The fossil isn't the animal itself but the protective casing it builds from calcium around itself. The small rings in the stone are the bases of many feather worm casings. When the worm dies, or in rare cases when it moves to a different location, the calcium casing eventually breaks or wares down to the base where it attaches to the rock. During the Cretaceous period, where you found these fossils was a "shallow", inland sea that divided North America into two separate land masses. It's believed now by some that a catastrophic draining of this inland sea is what gouged out the Grand Canyon rather than slow erosion from the Colorado River. In any case, the fossils are evidence that the area was once covered by a body of salt water.
Thanks for the deep dive, that was awesome you taught me something I didn’t know!😊🖤 Not only are those fossils proof that the area was underwater but so are the Trona Pinnacles in Southern California. The desert area in Trona National Park is very similar to Nevada and Arizona’s desert(s). It’s so cool to think about how different our earth looked millions of years ago 😊🖤.
I liked you pointing out the clam shell fossils because we know that the earth was totally different. I lived in So California for most of my life and saw a ton of sea fossils in Topanga Canyon after the Northridge earthquake causing landslides. Also there are a lot of these shells in Simi Valley hills..
I love, love the shells you found. That's far better than the monolith. SIDE NOTE ( I bet you had no idea that our Frenchman mountain is a very rare mountain in the world because it shows the different patterns of lift from the earth changing.) This valley has been a volcano and also a huge inland lake. The earth has cycles that it goes through every 6,000 and 12,000 years. There are shorter and longer cycles in between. This was a lush valley at one time , as evidenced by the woolly mammoth and other fossils found in this area. I had no clue you could drive up as far as you did on Gas Peak. Love that the Eagle was chatting with you. Beautiful video. Thank you.😊

When I was envenomated by a southwestern speckled rattlesnake I drove 1 hour to the hospital in Barstow. Love your sense of adventure. Finding the fossil bed in the desert at that altitude was way cooler than any man made hoax. Thanks again for taking us along.
@9:38 that is a Horseshoe Crab fossil. Obviously, the entire desert was once under water. That's why it is so similar to the ocean floor. Also this explains why the mountains have descending rings, like the shoreline of a lake or large body of water .
Been watching your videos since before Covid and every one I’ve seen I watched close to 5 times. Hope fully I can see you guys at lake Mojave or even the river. Keep up the work
Look SCO, I can see you're really not too upset about this. I honestly think you ought to sit down calmly, stay out of the heat, drink some water, have a swim and think things over.
Those broken fossil shells with the hole in the top? Perhaps barnacles, they come pre made with the hole in the top. That parallel stick fossil, maybe razor clam?
those fossils came there because one day that was the see and then earthquakes make those mountains. the earts plates shifted on top of each other and the stuff that was one time on the bottom of the ocean is now in the top of a mountain.

At one time oceans covered the world. So you’re going to see fossils just about everywhere.
This is the best episode ever! And that's saying something! I love a good scavenger hunt.
Been watching your videos since before Covid and every one I’ve seen I watched close to 5 times. Hope fully I can see you guys at lake Mojave or even the river. Keep up the work
I could see rewatching a video once, but why would a person watch something 5 times? Genuine honest question.
@@joshuagibson2520 I just get bored when there’s nothing to watch and watch all of them all over
🤙🏽
It peaked their interest @@joshuagibson2520
Its to hot to have people out there... proceeds to have people out there hiking and doing manual intensive labour and ruins everyones fun
Look SCO, I can see you're really not too upset about this. I honestly think you ought to sit down calmly, stay out of the heat, drink some water, have a swim and think things over.
Where you were standing was under water at one point. The limestone was similar to the bottom of Lake Mead. That's why you see fossils on the rocks
Thanks for trying! Great video as always!
Great video guys! Always interesting!
Those broken fossil shells with the hole in the top?
Perhaps barnacles, they come pre made with the hole in the top.
That parallel stick fossil, maybe razor clam?
Looks pretty neat out there.
those fossils came there because one day that was the see and then earthquakes make those mountains. the earts plates shifted on top of each other and the stuff that was one time on the bottom of the ocean is now in the top of a mountain.
