Yes to the moving mindset! My husband and I have moved 9 times in 18 years of marriage, and we moved from NY to TN and are renting for the time being, so we will move at least one more time. Knowing we're in temporary housing keeps me on my toes because I'm constantly decluttering and making sure I actually want to move stuff again.

Yes absolutely. We moved 5x in our first 5 years of marriage and it definitely puts things in perspective!

Great helpful video. I enjoy decluttering and making room for things I really need and love now! Just watched your intermittent fasting video you posted 2 weeks ago and would love to know the ingredient amounts for your lunch smoothie( you did say the Greek yogurt amount was 3/4 cup, but don’t know what the other amounts are). You look great! Thanks so much!❤😊

Well done~ We are in the process of clearing out our mother's home, after her passing. It has been a sobering experience, needless ot say. Years of accumulated items has inspired me to look at our home. I am asking my children NOW, if when it's my time are they going to want this or that, if the answer is YES, and I'm not using it I pass it to them now. Or I may donate it. this way they won't have to make that decision when it's my time. Sounds morbid, but it truly works, at this stage in my life, as I am a senior.

Clothes with holes and worn elastic and generally unusable for another always gets cut into rags for my husband to use in the garage. Kinda shocked me you were passing those items along. I always look forward to the treasures you find at that swap, I hope you have good luck this year.

To be honest I used to toss them but then I had friends say they liked getting worn clothes especially for free for their kids to wear as play clothes, and also donation centers I’ve heard can better recycle them versus just putting in the trash.

Good, sound advice Hilary! I especially like the idea of hiding the "shortfall" items.
I'm 65 and still defining my style! I need a revolving door and a permanent yard sale! Work/ Home/ Going Out clothing is ridiculous because I like patterns. And matching colors is hard. So I may have one top that only goes with one pr of pants. But they are a fave for fit, feel, comfort, so gotta keep. I have 3 dressers full. But one dresser is seasonal and has some bulky items.
Glad to say in 5 months I'll retire and wow, will I have space!
    Ty for sharing!💕

Relatively new subscriber here… I really appreciate these videos. I feel like you have a very common sense approach to clutter and getting rid of things. Also many ways I have not looked at getting rid of stuff. I think you have a very good point about decluttering being a constant process. I think I always thought if I decluttered really well I wouldn’t have to do it again. I like the Idea of having a box in the closet for stuff to donate.

Hillary I had a dear dear friend who in her 90s told me keep every thing, all fashion comes back around eventually. One day in 2012 she greeted me wearing a skirt she had worn the 1940s. It had a an expandable waistline. You could wear it when pregnant and cinch it when not. She wore it during her pregnancies or when she wasn’t pregnant. Anyway she looked like a million bucks all those many years later sporting that frock. Just wanted to share the story. She was a very wise woman in so many ways. I miss her a lot.

I used to as well, but then I heard that donation centers are better quipped to recycle worn fabrics. Also, a lot of moms have no problem taking the ripped knee things for their kids to play in outside, especially if it’s free. Normally I would just throw them away too but if anyone is able to use them I’d prefer to give them another chance.

@@OldWorldHome I don't have anyone left to give them to so I donate to the Salvation Army. We donate our kids clothes to others. My daughter takes hers to work and others with children can get what they want for free. I thought maybe quilters might want free clothes that weren't wearable.
