    I wish i could create such a smooth sound. It always takes some time to get the right pressure and tension in the bow to not to have so many scratchy sounds...not to think of delicate sounds.

    • @lassilogren
      @lassilogren  12 днів тому +1

      Hi @DimDimDeDit!
      Of course there are many ways to play jouhikko and there are very different instruments aswell. When recording jouhikko, I’m playing usually pretty quietly, not pressing hard. And always enough rosin.
      When performing acoustically or on jam sessions, my volume is much higher - and then my sound is not that smooth anymore.
      One tip is beeing aware how faraway from the bridge the bow is producing the best sound. That is varying a lot depending on the strings, on the tuning and on the instrument.
      I wish you all the best for searching your sound!

    • @DimDimDeDit
      @DimDimDeDit 12 днів тому

      @lassilogren Oh thank you for your tips! :) actually haven't focused much on the bow distance to the bridge. That's definitely worth to try out more. As a violin player I should have considered that one. But in terms of responsiveness or resonance, the violin is probably more forgiving.

    • @lassilogren
      @lassilogren  9 днів тому

      Okey, as a violin player you won’t have any major challenging for producing the sound on Jouhikko. 👍

      Hello @Lorenzomutal725!
      From Wiki: The jouhikko (Finnish: [ˈjou̯hikːo]) is a traditional, two- or three-stringed bowed lyre, from Finland and Karelia. Its strings are traditionally of horsehair. The playing of this instrument died out in the early 20th century but has been revived and there are now a number of musicians playing it.
