Just so you know, my microphone was turned off for the first minute and 56 seconds. LIVE STREAMS can be a bear to get everything working sometimes. Just advance the playback a little and you'll hear the whole video after my mic is turned on.

I got my start through the school of rock...4 yrs later. I’m in a band that plays 50 covers, and I’ve been invited to sing on stage with (famous) professionals.
I have a rehearsal on Tuesday with a band of professionals grounded by Covid.
Wild ride to say the least

I realized if you practice and practice even if you make a mistake or loose control mentally your body takes over or covers for you while you snap back real fast to taking control .. That’s just about one observation I’ve made or found ...

Thanks Ken, Your positive mojo has been a blessing to a time in my life that has challenged me beyond what I could imagine, without making music and something to grow I don't even want to imagine where I would be ... But, for it all to come to life I must improve and you keep giving me tools to do just that .. Thank YOU One day, when people hear about J-VATO rocking a town near them, Ken should be in my credits of success. This isn't about living a dream, this about being who I am and somehow making this blue liquid rock a better place.

This, man is the bible for everything he does/ I see myself as a bass player first second I do vocals /
It took a lot of practise to play bass and sing /Have to kind of split the brain in half /
Really, hard / well it was that for me anyway / and I never will be supergood at any of theme /
But try give it 100 % and what he says here is more important than anything I ever heard /
You cant stand look at yore shoos you are on a stage to give the audience a good time /
That is the 1 and the most important job ya have to do /
You will not play better or sing better because you are on a stage /
I know it sounds stupid to do pose on rehearsals but that is a important key because it is to late to do it only on stage /
Try look, people, inthe eyes give a smile dont be to serious/
Dont be like a tonns of bands that smoking pot and think that is cool and have dirty clothes and long hair that is not washed the hair in a month / wash your hair and put on some clothes that stand a little out /
Make the stage a holy place /
You have the lights on you and you are up on the stage /
People have paid to see a band /
      Let that sink in /
      Alkohol dont help ya /
Not any more than 2 beers/
      One in each leg /
Then go over to soda or juice in blend in water
Water is more important like Ken says /
I cant stand water so need sugar free soda but can take away the bubbles/
Dont get drunk that will not end good/
Enjoy and one or three notes dont break a one hour setlist if it is not break ya down/
You have to be like he says the entertainer /😎

That thing with raising the key and then go back is 100% true. Has helped me several times. I did it with livin on a prayer. 2 keys up (F#m) was the best one. A4 onset while still being in chest. Had that for some time and learned to be more gentle and to open the throat. Then back to the standard key (Em) with G4 onset and it feels much smoother and not difficult at all! Before I was struggling and usually was half a step flat (I always watch my notes in a program connected to the mic) since I had built up a lot of tension.
It definitely works. And I am just an amateur singing privately with a few selected friends. Nearly everything I learned about singing comes from this channel!

BTW: I always sound better the 2nd day (on back-to-back gigs) - never had a 3fer to compare. MetRX protein bars do something really cool to my voice, but not sure what it is (mild acid?).

I also watch with big interest your reaction videos (and no one else's!) because from you I learn a lot about a certain singer's technique. I would love to know your opinion about Guano Apes and their vocalist Sandra Nasic. I've always wondered if she uses the open throat technique or it is something else... If you are interested, check them out if you haven't heared about them before (I don't know if they are famous in the USA, I live in Europe and here they were very famous in the 2000s) and it would be great if you make a video reaction to them. the most famous opera singers look to the balconies.Zinka Milanov, Tucker, Tetrazzini etc. All singers whose voices last their whole careers sung to the balconies not the floor! You are so right that artificially lowering larynx hampers freedom. Correct inhalation allows the breath pressure only to lower the larynx,, like a plunger. You said you may liift the head up slightly, I'd add make sure its never forward. The idea is to unhinge the jaw and relieve frontal throat tension. It only works if the brearh is properly appogio'd or leaned.

Ok I've never had a voice lesson my mom and my ear long story anynote, aka anyway, Ken would you happen to know why if you come down with laryngitis that you can't talk at all but, when it came time to sing I had no problem ! Now mind you I wouldn't do that again or recommend it but it was a huge warm up position I had gotten and had no choice but, Ken I truly couldn't believe I sang and great lots on falsetto but I made it and I was wondering is it because of using falsetto that I was able to do this show with laryngitis? When I got off stage I could not talk for a good week so , you can bet I told my peeps at the time that I dont care if it was Elvis never again because I worried I'd ruin my voice ! I would like to know if you being a teacher know as to why that can happen apparently I'm not alone others have been able to sing with laryngitis to have you ever? Thank you it's not often I ask questions! Blessings Ken 🙏🏻🖤🙏

@@kentamplin You should listen to this. This is going to challenge all the rules about how to be a good singer that people are so strict about in the west. Would love to see you make sense of this. This is an Indian Classical song. People usually sing this to practice. The motive behind these kinds of songs is to explore and play around with all the notes that are in a song. Link - ua-cam.com/video/7SDrjwtfKMk/v-deo.html
