😎 highly stressed at the moment and it doesn’t help that it’s crunch time for marathon training, but I keep my head up and keep showing up, at times like this I tell myself that it can’t last forever, it will end soon enough!
@@kuraimakumbe3762 Sorry to hear you’re going through a stressful time on top of marathon training, but I’m impressed with your attitude! You’re right; it won’t last forever!
😎 Florida heat 🏃♂️ stress me. 😂 I have been trying to drop some lbs this summer. As we know, that is a stresser too. Your body likes to focus on getting faster or losing weight so I have had to put training goals to the side until I complete the weight loss block. It is a big stressor though because as you said ... no one is as hard on us as we are on ourself.
@@jefflessenberry6632 You’re good to focus on one thing at a time! The best part is that once you lose a bit, you’re probably going to have an easier time running fast! Keep it up!!
I’m in my fifties now and use running to de-stress in life. Use running as an antidote to stress. If you’re competing competitively there will always be life events to hamper progress….at times of stress try and get more sleep and use relaxation music/binaural beats to have a Power Nap. Relaxation and sleep is a form of training and beneficial to competing well …..focus more on recovery when stressed.
@@djc0108 Even though running is technically a stressor, I also use it to de-stress, or at least to keep me in balance. I often have to remind myself that relaxation and sleep is a part of training. A big part. Good to hear you have a handle on it!
I have a Garmin and put the stress widget on my watch face so that I could check how stressed I was at a given moment. I began checking it so much it just made my stress way worse!
🤣 That's definitely a downside to Garmin's stress score! I only see mine once a day, when it's delivered in the morning report, but like you it still stresses me out when it says i'm stressed!
😎Thanks for the good video Matt! I got a stress score of 9, which I’m happy with! And after watching this video I’m motivated to go to bed early tonight-don’t want not getting enough sleep stress to hold back my marathon training!
9 is fantastic, Anne! Yes, at the time I'm replying to your comment, it's almost 8pm, which is a great time to go to bed so we can wake up early and seize the day! Are you running the NYC marathon this year?
@@its_Matt_B_I got to bed at 9 pm last night! If only I did that everyday. 😂 I’m running Chicago for time and NYC for fun this year. Can’t wait for you to run Berlin!
@@its_Matt_B_if I can continue to train and the weather is good, 3:30-3:35. I’m running the Philadelphia Distance Half in two weeks, and I should have a better feel for my fitness after that! Do you have a goal for Berlin? Other than get epic content, of course!
@@annewright3486 I’m really hoping to get a few good videos out of the trip, especially the race video. I’m going to say my goal is 3:10, but I think that’s very aggressive.
😎😎 Interesting studies, Matt. I think it's not about stress only, I think it's all about self confidence. Positive stress increases while negative stress decreases confidence. Former requires less, latter requires more time to fully recover and both trigger you in different ways. You need some feelings of success as often as possible. This generally becomes more difficult the more advanced you get, because it's harder to improve. Whenever I remain static at something, I start any parallel activity, which I'm not yet good at, and use it as a confidence boost, because improving there is much easier. Problem: Over time you end up doing too many things. 😅😅
@@JanHerriger Yes, you’re absolutely right, except I think we should reframe doing many things as being an extremely well-rounded person! That’s what we should strive for! 😀
