Alex Smith Depends how you understand the word 'classic' when it is applied to a hip hop album. I see it as an album that is so good, that it quickly gains the respect and presitge of a 'classic' album i.e. a old and well known album e.g. illmatic, low end theory etc. I think you're understanding it in terms of the music reminding you of the old school boom bap style hip hop, which B4.DA.$$. defo has, expect that it is given a much more modern twist as opposed to 1999 which was a lot more conservative. Imo, the fact that Joey is taking the old school classic sound and morphing it with a personal and new school touch is far more respectable than just spitting over old school type beats which have already been heard (not saying that 1999 is bad, its one of the best mixtapes I've heard, I just believe this album is gonna genuinly FUCK SHIT UP from all sides). No Curren$y?
Gotta agree that Freddie Gibbs needs to be on any list of lyrical masterminds.
There just something about pro era’s videos that still slap in 2020
Quality lasts forever quantity fades
If I said this was one of the greatest beats ever would y'all get mad?
Nope
stompkins1000 hell nah
Yes cause the best beat is still dre
My favourite is Jamal - Keep It Real
B.'n.D nope. Never has been, never will be. Dre isn’t even top 5, he’s like 6 or 7.
I still come back to this ALL the time. That should tell you something. This will LIVE forever. Thank you Joey and also thank you Freddy Joachim for such a beautiful instrumental. I could listen to this beat ALL day and never get tired of it.
Jay-Z said to Joey 'That waves track, that is it'. Imagine hearing that. Amazing stuff.
why would joey care bout what jay z thinks of his album?
Adam Grabowski Jay Z flew him out to meet him at the Rocnation headquaters to discuss music business with him. It was a good thing. Of course he would care, any musician would care if Jay Z randomly flew you out for meeting.
Adam Grabowski Umm because hove is a fucking legend maybe? His music may not be consistant to his older shit but when someone whos been so successful doing this and making one of the greatest albums of all time, tells you that you have a dope song-- i imagine brings on a damn good feeling...
Yeah bro he mentioned this in the Combat Jack interview. Did you hear the 2 new songs that were previewed from B4.DA.$$ "Blue Collar" and "Check My Style"?
Adam Grabowski Verse 2 of this track starts out with Joey saying he won't stop till he meets Hova(God or Jay-Z's other moniker in-case ya didn't know) and his momma in a Rover...listen...dammit....

It was the summer of 2013, MTV had this music video takeover for 24hrs on theyre channel. I was just chillin in my bed and then this song and video come on and I instantly stop what I was doing and was just glued to the TV thinking this is one of the best songs I’ve heard in a long time. I was like 19 y/o at the time and it’s definitely nostalgic hearing it now. I’m 26 turning 27 this year.
