They shifted mirror image nature. Originally it was for diversion and scout. Right now, it's more to add DPS to the BM. It's an interesting dimension added to the BM, hopefully we will SEE some creative gameplay with it. You can still scout, but you have to be careful not to give free xp. The diversion effect is now increased because images do damage, it will be harder to spot the real one.

Also btw, you have shown the differences at level 1 and 2, but the mirror images continue to scale after level 3 all the way up with better items and stats from the BM. If they are comparable at level 2, the mirror images will likely be a lot stronger at higher levels, which is something to keep in mind. An actually thorough comparison would include the same scenario but also with level 3 of both skills, and then with level 3 ghost wolves and images from a level 10 BM with full items. I have a feeling that you did not show these comparisons (even though you could have easily done it) is because it would convey a different result. In fact, I'd wager so far to say that you deliberately do not want to show it because you want the skill to be stronger than balanced so you could abuse it.
@@zxbc1 you won't get lv 10 in most of your match. Farming speed and mana cost and overall lvl 2 ability damage is where most of your ability is gonna be used to get ahead of opponent

I don't think that they added damage to mirrors like a good dmg spell - I think, that it was did for better hiding of your real BM - because some players always can understand who is from 4 BMs do damage. Now they are all do, and confirm real BM getting more hard.

I think we'll need a bit more testing to see if mirror image is more valuable... Does orb of lightning works with mirror image? Cause if it does, he'll be able to purge lock a unit.
Level 3 wolves will do way more damage, but they will also cost 6.25% more mana, with ~13% less durability than 2 full HP illusions (73% less physical eHP at level 3 mirror). The images scale harder as has been mentioned, but won't be good late game anyways since dispel will be online. If you do a comp that doesn't necessitate dispel, then reskill into it, you'll be able to suprise enemy possibly? Not sure when Orc/NE/UD gets dispel units into blade. The opposite is true too, you start images and powercreep, then reskill out when oppo gets a counter. Either way, its a nice buff to blade and I don't think it needs buffed. With good item drops Grubby got in his game, the level 5 illusions hit for 11.31 on average, BUT they had 720 physical eHP, 44% more than wolves, and thats ignoring that wolves will take x2 from magic.
Illusions will always mirror the current hp of the BM and as a melee hero he's always taking damage. All the things you said about eHP is irrelevant in the midst of the fight because they won't come out in full HP unlike wolves. And illusions also take 200% damage and doesn't benefit from armor.

@@Kakerate2 i beg to disagree that you think that a 100%hp wolf is still comparable to a 50%hp image. That's why I'm saying it's irrelevant to make those comparisons between them. Simply put, even if you're going to make an equation for them the wolves will have a permanent 100%hp in their calculation whereas the illusion varies. But thank you for letting me know about the armor although i don't think it helps much since they're dispellable.

Back to that Grubby game, the 3 illusions would 8% more eHP than the 2 wolves combined, EVEN with BM at 50%. They scale better than wolves with healing, etc etc. They don't have to fill the same niche as wolves 1:1 to be useful. That would be subpar game design anyhow :p

That's the point that the creator of the vid is trying to make. If they're only doing that much damage, is it worth half a mountain giant's exp per kill? They're pretty useless in harassing at the early game anyhow, peons would deal more damage so if you want to make use of this "buff" you'd use them when the BM is already at a high level, but is it worth it?

This comparison is absolutely meaningless.. The only way we know if blademaster is too strong or too weak is, if we see the meta change to adapt to the blademaster.
i mean, it used NOT to deal damage like forever. perhaps devs didn't want to break BM, leaving utility to be the primary usage. also, illusion scaling purely off base stats is known since doto (e.g. phantom lancer's illusions work just the same).
Now it is really bad for utility as well cause it gives xp. It is useless in any form of fighting or harassment and it is also unuseable for utilty, so the ability is objectively worse then it was before the "buff"

@@Bloodwest it didn't and the problem isn't that it gives xp, the problem is the images are very weak compared to any other summons and it gives waaaay more xp then any other summon, I think that two lvl 5 image give as much xp as a mountain giant, I'm not a 100%, but it is close for sure. It could be somewhat useful in sme situations, but those rarely gonna happen in 1v1 I think and it just seems way to risky, because you have to risk giving a lot of xp to the enemy for very little utility AND you have to give up windwalk. The only use of images that I knew of was against keeper to remove entangle, but I don't think that is worth it anymore

Killing two of these illusions on a level 6 BM will give you the same amount of exp as a mountain giant kill? Is that fair? These illusions are dispellable, and take 200% damage and realistically speaking, they will always be summoned already "damaged" since they take after the BMs current HP so they're not hard to kill. Before they even cause enough damage to make giving 75 exp away per illusion worth it, they've already been dealt with. Now, is that not a "weak" buff? Don't include the utility since that's already there. We're talking about the buff in this patch. After knowing all this, will you still say it's damn too strong of a buff???
I think the exp should be % of Hp he has when summoned. Exampel when the mirror Immage is Summoned at full Hp 100% exp and if the bm uses it at 10% hp it should give 10% of the exp. But thats probably to much work

It is not a fair comparison, although mirror image is vulnerable to normal damage, it is more resistant against others. Also, BM should have more items.

That makes a lot of sense, it would be OP if it did good damage and it always did 0 in the past versions.

to be fair normal damage does more against peasants, hero damage is generally pretty good for fighting though.
Auto attack bonus doesnt work on illu. Also mirror image dispels. It scales with bm stats and levels. It also creates a confusion.
