If you put the best of McDavid and Barzal together you get Bure. Amazing speed smoothness and the ability to run rings round the opposition in there own zone with no space. Plus Bure's skating is always a thing of beauty.
I think we will see more amazing things out of Barzal in the future. That guys skating is so fast, and his edge control is at another level.
Pavel bure is well beyond this guy.bure had like 4lb skates Bauer boots from the time.
I grew up in California and met Pavel, and you can hear this from other people . He used to skate down Venice boardwalk with ankle weights , arm weights , neck weights , and his elbows pinned behind him with a rope , and a parachute on a 6 foot rope in drenched wet outerwear like you would wear for hiking ; on rollerblades . There are pictures out there of him doing this when he lived in Venice
He was absolutely crazy .
I think Bure is miles ahead in terms of pure speed i.e. McDavid level. Barzal’s skating on the other hand is more elusive and well balanced type skating. All in all, theyre both elite skaters.
Bure had more of a running stride at first and then would lengthen out his stride. You ll also notice he would pump his strides at full flight. Very much like Coffey would threw the neutral zone and into the offensive zone. But Bures starting strides were very similar to how Glen Anderson in Edmonton skated. Both had a running stride
I must be blind because I don't see any similarities in their skating technique. The guys most similar to Bure that I have ever seen are Sergei Kostistyn, Maxim Afinogenov and Marian Gaborik... and they obviously weren't full on Bure like skaters but had similarities.
Edge work sure you could argue it resembles Bure, but in terms of speed and edge work a better comparison would be McDavid. That said, Bure made his strides look a lot effortless than McDavid
Justin W because the reason they look a lot more effortless are because mcdavid is obviously faster
Barzal reminds me more of Samsonov when he was in Boston.
Буре лучший из лучших
Barzal is one of the best skaters in the league today. I would argue Bure is one of the best all time skaters. There are some similarities in the quick, short cross-overs with the intention of performing more cross-overs than is typical and generating more acceleration.
Good video! Food for thought, but too early I think to make any decision. Both are amazing in their own way
If we're just talking about skating...ok i guess in comparing them. That's where the comparisons end tho.
Barzal players hockey at the same club as I do!
Bure was great barzal is a phenomenon but he wont ever put up 60 goals ever. Bure was the best stick hander at high speed with finish. Barzal wil be great future player for islanders tho. Top end 35-40 goals but not 60
still crazy to thinkBarzal could crack 30 at an NHL level considering he was touted as a playmaker
Barzal and Bure? There's absolutely no similarities! Bure was a pure sniper, Barzal is a playmaker.
Nathan Lichtmann he’s not talking about play style he’s talking about skate style. Laine and Ovechkin are the same play type but they skate totally different.
than you jason from luke melnik
Bure and Barzal played and skated with different intensity. Pavel was a killer, a thunderbolt, Matt floats and looks. McDavid is the proper comparison, and even then, today's equipment upgrades distort the talent levels.
Ever since you've discovered the crossunder that's all i can see lol
I think you need your brain shuffled lol
haha wtf
🤣
Imagine Bure in these new carbon fibre skates.
