You cant compare. It’s different generations. Football has evolved since players are now athletes with what they eat and how they train 24/7. Each team can use technology to study hours of footage of your opponents. Players rely more on physios and coaches. Get more preparation before matches.
Teams are playing 4-3-3 rather than 4-4-2. And teams are way more tactically set up. Could even argue it’s 5 subs now!
You can be physical 6ft built and not have much of football brain to be a good player.

The lack of long-term impact vision is jarring. The attractiveness of the league wanes due to the lack of competitiveness that made it so attractive in the first place, and sponsors and TV money disappear due to falling viewership numbers.

Without the continued corruption of the officials and FA, awarding obviously wrong decisions to favour Man City they would not have come above Arsenal.
We can all see the obvious corruption in, for example, Michael Oliver and other refs who are paid by Man City owners to referee in the UAE and are paid vastly more for that then in the Premier league.
Such an obvious conflict of interest that the FA approves.
