Man you are good at what you do and you have the skills and determination to rise to any challenge that comes your way. It's not fair that they did this to you with the new house and the kid. Especially after saying you are part of the plan. That's super shady and you don't deserve to be treated that way. This is a serious mistake for them. You are my boy, Anthony. Good on you to be vulnerable and share your story. Working with you was one of my favorite parts of DD. You’ll land on your feet and be better off - we’ll make sure of it.
I remember reaching out to you to do disc reviews. Then talking to you about working at DD. You were a great colleague and I always enjoyed working together with you and Danny. You are good at what you do and now you have some great experience working in media. You will get back on your feet and do even more great things.
Nothing but love my friend. Sorry to see it go this way. You are an exceptional human, hoping down the line we can look back at this and the time we had at DD with laughs and smiles. Love you brother!
Dang. Not the video I wanted to see today. You and this channel were some of the first disc golf content I consumed when I got into the sport and part of the inspiration for me to get into disc golf content creation. I still remember being hyped when you got hired by DD. I know this sucks, but you’ll land on your feet somewhere! I’m sure of it. Thanks for all you’ve done for our sport.
First off - love ya buddy and sorry to see this. Thanks for always being a great guy to work alongside. I'm sure none of us have the right words that can immediately fix the situation for you but know we all appreciate you and the hard work and dedication you've put in year over year. Remember, that was the recipe that got your hired in the first place so you know you have the skills (which have only refined over time) so it will be great to see what comes next in your journey. Again, sorry to have this hit you and your family the way it did. Reach out if you need anything.
I hate that you had to make this video, but I can't tell you how much I appreciate your vulnerability here. It's tough to see the disc golf world shift from the golden age when we all found our place with no real plan and chased our dreams on passion alone. I will always look back fondly on those days alongside you, Ian, Terry, and so many others out on the course for hours a day only to spend the rest of the night editing and do it all over again the next day so fans around the world could enjoy the sport we all grew to love so much. Of course nothing ever stays the same and things continue to progress for better or for worse, but you should be so proud of the impact you made on disc golf and rest easy knowing you left it all out there with no regrets. Things are going to be so great for you and your family, my friend. I know it. Cheers to the next chapter!
When I first started playing disc golf in roughly 2018 you and Danny were the videos I watched to learn the game and I still throw discs you showcased and I'll never forget what you did for the community you'll be missed & thank you for what you contributed.
While we only got together a couple of times, I had a blast working with you and Danny. When I was coming from the esports industry with a love and interest in disc golf, you were one of the people that helped me learn about the space. I wish you the best man. Take care!
Anthony, I appreciate your bravery in making this video so soon after. Well done holding the line. Adversity brings great perspective, and you've got your family squarely at the top. Praying for you. Let us know when you land on your feet, as I'm sure you will. You've got talent, and I hope an opportunity comes along for you soon. Much love! Thanks for keeping us entertained and informed all these years! - an early sub. PS: I miss Big John content, too.
We are very sorry to hear this Anthony, you were always a pleasure to work with and always had our back. I know it may not seem like it now, but this could be a blessing in disguise. When one door closes, another opens. Please keep your head up and know that you have friends all over the world who want great things for you. Please keep us informed on how you are doing. Wishing you all the best.
It’s very sad to hear this 😢. Big thanks for the great disc reviews and other content over the years. I was big fan of DD’s old media team (Anthony, Danny, Robert, Bobby) and your are one of the reasons I still throw mainly trilogy. I hope all the best for your future endeavors and take care.
You are a very highly skilled professional. You have the right attitude man, be excited for what’s to come! Change is good!!! Need anything let me know 🎉👍
I don’t know you and I don’t know what type of work you did at DD but I’m 65 years old and can share that this happens to every single one of us at least a couple of times in our lives. Having a job in an industry that you enjoy makes a “job” feel like something strange. You’re young. You’re obviously passionate about doing something you love for your work/career and with that fire inside you’ll soon discover that you are on a journey that will take you places you could never imagine. Yeah.. it totally sucks to be “downsized” and the worst part is always never being told a good reason for it to happen. Trust the universe young grasshopper. You shall prevail and you’ll find marvelous things ahead on your journey! Good luck to you sir!
Much love for being vulnerable and sharing. Reach out and talk if you need. I went through something similar, it all works out in the end, but its TOUGH.
Watching your early videos and getting to send you discs to review from DD and seeing your videos come out was always a treat. I was happy to learn you accepted the job at DD when Bobby offered it to you because you were going to do great things with it. I’m so sorry that it ended the way it did.
Man. To see all the dd greats kinda moving on and the Industry changing and adjusting is something no one could predict. I've thrown trilogy only for years now due to the energy around the Ole dgam crew. So sad to see it all broke up but on to bigger and better. You can do something you will be proud of and appreciated properly for. Growing can hurt. But you got it man. Much love to dd and everyone involved the economy sucks. Hard decisions and choices to make.
Man, I was stoked when I learned you joined DD after watching your channel before. To be honest, I think you and Danny were the main reason I was buying DD discs and especially watching the content. Getting let go is always going to suck, no matter what. It will suck for a while, but trust me it will pass. Whatever is up for you next will make you forget the bitterness of the ending and allow you to cherish the good times. It's just a chapter and one must end for a new one to start. I'd almost bet that even the disc golf will come calling as well, might take a bit longer but when it does you'll appreciate the skills and stories you accumulated over the years. Keep your chin up and wish you all the best!
Sorry to hear this. You were an inspiration to me ( and so many ) when i started playing in 2017. You helped me learn about disc and how to throw. Thank you for all your dedication to the sport and the company that has let you down. Your dedication will follow you to your next adventure and it will be better for you I'm sure. Love you bro.
Good stuff, brother. The drive to grow the sport has been a part of you and that is what put you in this career for almost a decade. That dedication and drive will spill over into something new and it will shock you how much you needed a change. Stay positive. I know it seems like the heaviest storm is over you for the moment. Your passion and dedication to achieving greatness will show in any career you choose. Like all of our conversations before, i'm still here if you need anything. Keep pushing, and I'm excited to see where you end up. You've got a vast network of people that want to see you land on your feet and will do anything they can to help you stick that landing. Don't ever be scared to use them for assistance. You've got a massive heart. First and foremost give every moment you can while you're on the hunt for the next career to that baby boy. This is valuable time that is a gift you can never replace. Take him out and put that camera to the test making memories. You've got the perfect season for outdoor pictures at your disposal! Secondly, RESET. The time spent the past 8 years along with your wife in school and now a new baby has surely made time with your wife hard.Take advantage now. Disconnect from digital media every chance you can and fall in love with life outside of it again.
Hang in there Buddy..bigger and brighter things in the future. Always enjoyed your channel way before you were with DD. Sorry things happened this way. Just keep your head up you got plenty of people out here rooting for ya man.
Hey man, been a fan of yours (IL represent) from the beginning and can understand the feelings you have. I was laid off in 2018 and moved out of the industry I love. 2 years later and I was back doing what I enjoy. Change is hard, but don’t let it break your spirit. You’ve got this!
Best of luck in whatever you get to next. I’m sure you will do great. Thanks for sharing with all of us and thanks for all the great content you have put out over the years.
You were one of the first disc gold channels I ever watched in your early days. Keep doing what's best for you in future. I mailed you a disc golf anonymous shirt back then. Not sure if remember or kept it haha
Hard things are Hard - which really, really sucks! I got teary eyed watching this and had to send a little love your way ❤ I hope you get through this as well as possible!
They are paying Kona truck loads of money and this guy can’t pay his mortgage. Unbelievable lack of vision and integrity by DD. I’ve been watching you since the r/discgolf days back in 2014. I’ll always be a fan.
Ricky more so, he get 8x per year what Kona gets… based on the number of Ricky discs on clearance he hasn’t exactly been a good bet either. And I like both Kona and Rick but DD made some bad bets or maybe didn’t know how to market them. It’s more than just the sponsored players.
I've felt pretty jaded towards DD since Jeremy sold it. I was a bigtime trilogy nerd for years, and even own the very first Transit Cart ever sold on the site in the US! Played GBO years ago too! Obviously there's data we don't see that led up to this happening, but it seemed like a cop-out to sell. So you have a rough year or two, or there's a decline in sales or projected sales...so what?!! Turn it around and keep the passion going, right? Nope...sell it all and forget about integrity. SMH it's just a travesty. Keep your head up, dude. That fire you had when you were making vids and stuff for DD, and the fire you had to make DD a better company...that fire will light up again. You're immensely hirable in the industry, no doubt. I wish you the best. ❤
Hey man, just so you know, you have had an impact on disc golf. A big-time positive impact. I’ve enjoyed many videos of yours over the years. I’m sad to see you go, but I know you’ll find something great!
It really sucks to hear. I started playing around 10 years ago, and you were one of the first content creators I watched. It is pretty cool how much can change in 10 years, and its even cooler to think about what will happen within the next 10 years when you look back at this. I hope it gives you some kind of good feeling knowing that you brought happines to someone on the other side of the globe in Sweden. I really do wish you the best of luck Anthony!
Big hugs brother. Met you a couple of times before you made your move out of the Chicago suburbs and loved watching what you and the "old DGAM crew" were able to produce. Getting let go from a job is never easy, but it sounds like you will recover from this and will be stronger as a result. Your comments about how you haven't played much disc golf since COVID resonates with me and is one of the reasons why the industry as a whole is hurting. Keep your chin held high and look for opportunities wherever they present themselves.
Dang Anthony! I subscribed when I saw your content and was begining my tournament play around 2016 after being a casual player for five years. Go Ham, loved him too! I throw the Escape because of the videos you guys produced, great glide. You've got something to give and things don't go as you hope, but it doesn't mean you give up. I'm confident that you'll land on your feet soon enough and I'd be glad to hear about that too! Seek Christ if you haven't and dive a little deeper into him if you 've been just 'casual' to this point in your life.🙂 He'll help you center your life in these changing times. So, hang tough, move forward, and when it's time, enjoy hitting ALL your 20 footers.
Unfortunately DD has made a lot of poor business decisions. Add this to this list. Wishing nothing but the best for you and your family. May you come out better on the other side.
Big fan of yours, started my discgolf journey in 2014 and your channel was a huge part of my core base in discgolf (and I too remember Big John’s channel and many others from those early days that have gone by the wayside). Thank-you so much for sharing your passion with discgolf with all of us over the years. I know your personal connection with the sport is unfortunately at a low point, but I hope that you know you have inspired so many with your content and work within the sport…thank-you so much! Best wishes to you and your family, enjoy all the milestones and seasons in your life and know that you have and will continue to have a positive impact ✌️
Thank you so much for sharing your heart with us. We are the same age. I've seen you and Danny since I started playing in 2019. Thank for being honest and having integrity to not drag DD through the mud.
I was skeptical when the HOD announcement came out. I've seen this scenario unfold too many times over the years. Not once, has it been positive for employees, company culture, company values, community or anything associated with the companies prior to buyout. Equity firms don't care about any of the intangibles the companies they buy previously held. The number on the bottom line is all that matters. If it's not large enough or growing quick enough they panic. That's where we are today. I was cautiously optimistic this one would be different. I was wrong. Unfortunately, this one hit close to home. You'll land on your feet. Consider yourself fortunate you got out when you did. The future of DD, HOD and disc golf in general is not bright. When playing Jones East today I wondered if the red barn needs to be repainted to say "Emporia KNEW Disc Golf".....
DD without Rusco is not DD. This is exactly why people should strive to support family-owned businesses. The second any company goes corporate, it goes to crap. You deserve better, Anthony!
Wish you so much happiness and joy in your future man.. I watched your videos chucking discs across soccer fields and learning you were about 45 mins away from me (southern wi boy here) I thought it was the coolest thing! I loved how you explained it all and happy because I was an avid learner in the sport! You helped me and am forever grateful to you for that! Keep your head up you will find something to be passionate about and you will thrive! Keep working hard and you will be seen for your passion! They lost something great, not the other way around!
You were a big reason I started disc golf content creation back in 2017. Thanks for all the hard work you did that will never be truly appreciated. Without you the sport wouldn’t be the same 🫶
Anthony, I am sorry that this has happened to you. I was thinking if you wanted to provide a Venmo or Paypal, as one of your subscribers I would love to donate to your bills. This is an awful time of year to be let go, not that any time is ever great. Thank you for sharing with us and good luck!
You were one of the first channels I found when I started disc golf. Loved your videos, reviews. Followed Danny before DD as well. When you joined DD I was STOKED! I’m a huge DD fan but a few of the “business” moves lately especially personal wise really bother me. Not digging the non plastic side of DD. Hope you find HUGE success moving forward.
I have always enjoyed your content and the work you did at DD! I’ve been there too with layoffs and I can tell you a closed door means another will open. Lean into God and tell Him what you’re feeling in your heart. This is a time of uncertainty but be certain God will take care of you and your family.
Enjoyed all your content. I got into Disc Golf in 2019, and didn’t know a thing about how discs flew. You and Danny educated me throughout the last 5 years on social media. You were awesome. I’ve been through layoffs before man. It will all be okay. I promise. If you hit the ground running and keep your head held high you will get a higher paying job. Make sure your future employer sees all your UA-cam videos because they are great!
I think it was GBO 2014 I met you on Jones East. You were the card in front of me and I tee’d off. Happened to drill your card mate square in the chest with a Verdict. I’ll never forget that.
If I may say disc golf Will never die just take time and appreciate the good times n days I believe ur son will want to play disc golf one day so never give up on ur passion
Us locals all hear how dynamic kills disc golf in their crew all the time. I hope you find that spark. This UA-cam channel used to help us all find disc I hope you get back to trying plastic without the politics.
Keep your head up. DD has been going downhill for a while. It's self inflicted wounds though. I dealt with DD for many years and I used to know all the employees by first name and they knew me, but they grew too big too fast and lost what made them great that's why their reputation is what it is now. I haven't purchased a trilogy disc in over 6 years now. There's a reason why everyone who left is doing better now. You too will find something new and end up better.
Remember you from back in the Aces and Chains days and I've just been so happy for your successes over the years. I'm so sorry this happened but I know you're destined for great things outside of DD
worst part is your millionaire overlords could have made it happen in a second, but they spent extra time coming up with a lie that will make them feel better about themselves.
Your content was the reason I turned to DD, in the first place.. I'm sorry.. as one who has been through what you're experiencing you will find things better soon.. Nice job done by you documented in this great sports history. Best wishes for you and your family...
Dang. Not cool. Business is always business I guess... You and the people at DD are the reason I throw Trilogy and specifically DD. Its always been a natural thing for me and I'm sure for lots of people to buy and support a company that makes me FEEL good and a company I love following. I've been here following you since before you started at DD and remember a video you reviewed the DD Escape. That somehow stuck in ny mind. I'm really sorry for DD for losing you (and Bobby and RobMcCall and....) This obviously was a dream job for you. You did it for so long and so well that I'm sure you'll find a spot you love very soon. Take care and please let us know how you're doing.
It's sad to see you like this. I enjoyed your content since day one. Hang in there brother. Maybe God has a bigger plan for you. Leave it in the hands of fate. Keep your head up big dog 🤜🤛
I'm so sorry for your suffering. I have had redundancy, and other upsets from employment and know how distressing it can be. Can't you contact some other disc makers to see if there are roles available?
I have so many things I wanna say. This is wrong. The way DD has been behaving since the beginning of this whole foolish greedy endeavor to throw millions around in an attempt to purchase relevance has been unacceptable to me. I really appreciate your honesty and your courage, to let us all know, and make your goodbyes, but I truly hope you can regain a sense of enjoyment from disc golf again in the future. Thank you for all the help with the Disc Golf Nerd over the years and for being a true ally to me and the Disc Golf community. We had a good run tho! Lot of fun along the way and no one can take that away. Cheers brother. On to bigger and better for you!
The biggest shame is that you couldn't grow your personal brand during that time. Your channel should have WAY more views and subs if you could have continued to develop this channel alongside all the work you did at DD. I remember your content and subsequent hiring at DD was part of what got me more into DG and developed my appreciation for DD as a company and product. I've since moved away from their products a little bit. I know that you'll land on your feet somewhere, somehow. I'm rooting for you
Disc Golf isn't down. Dynamic Discs is down. Poor decision after poor decision. Big Ricky and Kona contracts, overpriced molds. The company seems to be faltering.
DD took you from me and I will never forgive them. Sorry to hear the news, and thank you for sharing your story. Love you buddy. You're talented and passionate and a joy to work with; wherever you go next will be so glad to have you.
Sorry this is happening man. You and Danny where some of the pioneers for disc golf content and have influenced myself to make content. I worked factory work for years, the company I worked for took my 9 year perfect attendance bonus for me going to my dad's funeral. Companies rarely care about employees and it's sad especially when those employees are the foundation for them to stand on.
I can understand the “sales are down” angle. As of the last few months I have seen brand new discs selling on Marketplace at below retail, and quite often not selling even at those rock bottom prices. There is about zero incentive to step into a disc shop, or to order online. It’s as if the big sales years were driven by “investors” who believed the demand would be there forever, and post-COVID reality hit. Add that disc golf has yet to become more than a novelty sport after decades of being a professional sport, I don’t think ESPN gives even an hour total of PDGA coverage in a year. It’s hard to grow a sport that appears to have never been close to becoming mainstream.
Yes, yes…it’s always rough going through these times in life. I’m totally here to listen and validate and commiserate. Now is there a way for you to sneak back in and see how long it will be before dynamic ships my recent order of premium plastic bundles? Again, my deepest sympathies. 😉
Paying wysoki all that money ( millions) and nobody buying his discs . should of cut his salary and kept the loyal guys like you.sorry bro you'll land on your feet .things will be better for u and your family
I got laid off in 2020, and again in 2023. Neither was a fault of mine either, both were cost cutting due to a crappy economy. Unfortunately after a 13 year career in marketing myself, I'm no longer in the workforce... but I'm blessed with a great wife and kids that allow me to be a stay at home dad. Hopefully one day I'll find my place in the workforce again, but for now I'm meant to be doing what I am. It sucks, but you'll find your place. Best of luck Anthony!
Man, all my favorite people are now gone from DD, this is rough. 😔😢and to do it to someone starting a family. Makes it hard to want to continue to buy the brand. 🤔
Over the years I've met or had interactions with quite a few folks from DD, from Jeremy to E-Mac, to the folks running the retail store in KC, and have nothing but positive impressions and opinions of those folks. That's why I don't understand why it seems like so much of what DD does as a company comes across as cringeworthy or hokey. I guess we never know what goes on somewhere behind the scenes. Never met you but always enjoyed your content and enthusiasm. I wish nothing but the best for you and your family.
Take some time to reflect on what you’ve contributed to the world of disc golf. Maybe you’re just getting started. No matter where your journey takes you, hold your head high and be proud of all you accomplished. All the best to you and your family.
I hope you can manage until you find new ok payed work, what you save (travelling to work, lunch not homemade, daycare/nanny and such depending on how you and your better half have set stuff up ofc.) can make up for some lost income if you are "aggressive" about it. Glad for what you have done at DD, not dug into your own content due to me finding DG about when you stopped playing casualy... ;) Made me smile several time when you did the podcast about 2 years ago. (You mostly worked on the production side for those right?) That they changed their mind and had to let you go as well is one thing, but that you then would have to quit the same day as the others and not several weeks later makes it feel soo sketchy... Living in Sweden makes me look at Triology more like a single brand for the products and DD as an own entity helping L64° and Westside with distribution over there. I need to read up a bit on how Kastaplast and DM fits into it all in North America beside the obvious savings in combined shipping and physical personel and actual packages. You did forget to put in your skillset "before" and now, stuff that you are good at and really like to do a lot for work, like a CV ;)
Around 14:40 I meant to say “a single person who did NOT end up in a better position.” Apologies for the slip up there.
I followed ya
You, Danny, Robert and Bobby always will be the golden era of DD in my eyes. Best wishes and good vibes in whatever is next for you!
Agreed
Facts.
Man you are good at what you do and you have the skills and determination to rise to any challenge that comes your way. It's not fair that they did this to you with the new house and the kid. Especially after saying you are part of the plan. That's super shady and you don't deserve to be treated that way. This is a serious mistake for them. Keep your chin up, and keep us posted with where you end up! We're all rooting for you!
❤❤

Wow. What a joke to be treated this way after 8 years. I wish nothing but the best for you and your family

That sucks Brother. I feel like the business model of venture capitalists is profit over people. Thank you for sharing. I wish you all the best.
I got teary eyed watching this and had to send a little love your way ❤
I hope you get through this as well as possible!
Best of luck with everything man! You, Danny, and Bobby were a huge part of me getting hooked on this sport whenever I started playing in 2018.
Hang in there buddy! One door closes and another opens! God is good and have a blessed day!
Anthony you will be missed and I appreciate all you have done for DD. Your Brother, Art P/Semper Fi USMC
Getting let go sucks 100%, but you'll look back one day soon and see you made an impact during your time there. On to better things, my friend 💙
That’s tough to hear brotha! I enjoyed seeing all you did for DD. When one door closes, another opens. ❤
If you are the reason why we have a disc golf course at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church (Crystal Lake, IL), THANK YOU SO MUCH!!
Love ya man! Keep your head up you're a great dude and deserve way better.
You are great at what you do. Positive vibes heading your way.
-Kyle
Keep your head up, Disc golf needs people like you.
Without and Danny they dont have any media presence anymore. No suprise they are down.
I think it was GBO 2014 I met you on Jones East. You were the card in front of me and I tee’d off. Happened to drill your card mate square in the chest with a Verdict. I’ll never forget that.
I'm sorry to hear this happened. you, Danny, Bobby, and Emac, where the big reason I loved DD. I hope you land on your feet.
The dream only dies if you let it. I hope great opportunities come your way. Thank you for all the great content ❤
If I may say disc golf Will never die just take time and appreciate the good times n days I believe ur son will want to play disc golf one day so never give up on ur passion
They screwed ya. Leave them in the dust, man. 👍
There goes a real one.
Remember you from back in the Aces and Chains days and I've just been so happy for your successes over the years. I'm so sorry this happened but I know you're destined for great things outside of DD
DD wont be able to right the ship. Its best you wont be there when it sinks. Youll be better off doing anything else.
You will do well where ever you end up! We, at the Disc Golf Show, are here if you need anything!
I started playing right before you made the move!!!
So much has changed…I miss the old crew….Robert and Bobby, you Danny, E Mac 😢
Cool that you shared!
🙏’s for you and your family.
they were never going to promote you because you were doing the promoted work at a cheaper price, thats how you know there was bad management
The only constant is change - roll and keep rolling, wishing you the best !
Big love Anthony
worst part is your millionaire overlords could have made it happen in a second, but they spent extra time coming up with a lie that will make them feel better about themselves.
From DD Employee to italian Maffia Boss
Much love Anthony❤
A great future awaits on the other side Mr Anthony. Te mando un abrazo fuerte! 🫂
Million+ $ contracts in DG probably came a little too soon for Dynamic.
Paul and Simon sell discs just based on who they are, Ricky not so much
@@ps3nickolia12 😆😆😆
DD took you from me and I will never forgive them.
Sorry to hear the news, and thank you for sharing your story. Love you buddy. You're talented and passionate and a joy to work with; wherever you go next will be so glad to have you.
Wwjd
Sorry this is happening man. You and Danny where some of the pioneers for disc golf content and have influenced myself to make content.
I worked factory work for years, the company I worked for took my 9 year perfect attendance bonus for me going to my dad's funeral. Companies rarely care about employees and it's sad especially when those employees are the foundation for them to stand on.
We are only given what we can conquer. Steel sharpens steel. God bless
Glad Danny and Anthony left so we can finally get these kind of videos posted.
Stay strong, brother.
(You mostly worked on the production side for those right?)
That they changed their mind and had to let you go as well is one thing, but that you then would have to quit the same day as the others and not several weeks later makes it feel soo sketchy...
