Hi Yash! I hope you've been well. The answer depends on the program, and the type of writing that you want to produce. As I prepared my application, I was reading a lot of Cormac McCarthy. He's a brilliant writer who isn't as popular as some other classics, so I felt like I was picking up tricks that aren't taught as widely. Now I'm far more into Hemingway. The way I've found success is to figure out what you'd like to get better at, and read the greats in that discipline. If you want to get more scientific, you can look up the reading lists of the programs that you'd like to attend, and start with their lists. The reading list will tell you a lot about a program. If you like it, great - you can start learning and picking up tricks early. If not - well, perhaps a different program might be better for you. Best of luck!
