    I have watched many loading tutorials and just got more and more confused. You showed how to do it so clearly and specifically with many little details that I now feel confident that I can load my first quilt correctly. Thank You!

    Update, so I followed along with your video and loaded my FIRST quilt ever, I was kind of proud how well it lays! I wanted to watch the next video you mention at the end about basting and pantographs but could not find. Thanks again for the great video!!!

    I also have a APQS machine. I’ve had it for about a year with minimal to no training offered when I bought it. Everything I’ve learned to do, I’ve learned from you. Thank you, thank you for posting these videos. I have learned so much and I always look forward to the next opportunity to learn something new!!! Some day, I’m going to come visit your shop!!!

      Thank you!! I think this is the next video you are working on......but, I have the APQS Lucey! I would love to see a video on proper basting and how to do that so the quilt doesn’t “grow” when you get to the end. Again, this is a process I taught myself because my machine is a bit different from Millie. I’m unsure the way I am doing it is the correct way.
      And yes, my husband travels to Edmonton frequently for work, so one of these times, I will come along so I can come by.

    I want to tell you something funny! I am still new enough at quilting to have to find this video every single time I load my machine. (I am getting old and forgetful!) This time I found myself searching for Swallow UA-cams! Luckily my brain kicked in fairly fast!!!!!!🤪🤣❤️

    This was a great video! I've just booked a 'certification'? class locally and also a day of quilting and they've set me up on a Millie. So of course I'm here on YT looking for background info and your video was great and very helpful! (I think) However, despite your many great tips now I'm thinking maybe this will be more than I can handle and maybe I should have just earmarked the amount of money for the certification plus the hourly rental to go to a local longarmer. Yikes.... You did a great job explaining all your steps.

      Thank you very much Pam! So happy that the video is helpful for you!. We had to sew the dowels into the leaders that came on the machine.

    Such a helpful video that will help me with a task I’ve been struggling with so much, thank you! What recommendations do you have for loading a pieced backing (most of the charity quilts I do are pieced backs and have just enough backing and batting)? Would you do anything differently?

    • @MattSparrow
      @MattSparrow  6 років тому

      Hi Nicole! Thank you so much! I am very happy it will help you.
      When loading a pieced backing, it works out best if the seam goes horizontally (same way as the bars). This allows the seam to get rolled up evenly across the whole backing. If there are multiple seams - it matters less!

    • @MattSparrow
      @MattSparrow  6 років тому +1

      Also if it is ‘just enough’ we often add a 4-6 inch strip of scrap to the top and bottom edge of the Backing. We don’t Quilt on the Scrap, it just gives us that little bit extra we need to attach it to the frame.
