'the lack of desperation in success terms has also proved a point in the fact that it has kept us together'. one awesome lady. it also means longevity in musical terms. she will never be out of fashion.
Growing up in the 80s I was obsessed with their music and their look...revisiting the band and their interviews now as a slightly older person I am dumbfounded by the eloquence and razor sharp intelligence of the group members...
Love their non-commercially driven approach to music. If only there was more of that attitude around these days. Sure she looks great here, but what she's saying is much greater.
The best band there was in the world, so there 🤣 only saw them once first tour to Australia that is a memory I hold dear, I was mesmerised and intoxicated by their performance, a unique & truly one of a kind out fit and her costume changes were awesome, what style what flair, imprinted on me with no dulling
The world was sooo much different pre-internet, pre personal computer, personal smartphone. I was and still am infatuated with Siouxsie. That is all it ever could be at age 14 and now at age 54 never will be. She was angelic.. her moves were entrancing, and Siouxsie's voice was captivating! Thanks for posting
Siouxsie looks amazing in this interview. So beautiful. I loved the banshees and creatures since 1980. I had my hair and make up like Siouxsie as a teen for a time. And ironically had long black hair in a cleopatra style and shorter black hair 1920’s style when she was same lol was coincidence.
its well documented that she wanted to be Cat Woman in the second BatMan film. the role went to Michelle Pfeifer, but Siouxsie would have been perfect!
***** Looking back on my comment, I think I was clearly in error, and at the least, not being factual. I just googled "Siouxsie and Cat Woman", and I came across a story, which asserts that Siouxsie was "offered the role of Cat Woman, but that she declined". So, I was wrong. However, I do remember seeing an interview with her, and she did express a fondness for Cat Woman (but that's a lot different than what I claimed). I do know she is a cat lover. Its very moving, seeing her talk about her cats.
Wow! Me too. She has always had a great classic make up. Louise Brooks always screams out of the 'punk' 'goth' or whatever. Shes a one off true original musician and therefore precious.
I may have not even been alive when she was big (for reference I'm a teen) and she's already one of mine. She's helped me be more like me, and I'm so happy I have her
@@Pascal5207_ exactly! As a teen myself not many other people my age know of her, but I'm very happy I've been able to have good influence on music at a young age. She is truly one of the best women of music ever.
Loved them from around 1979 when I switched onto music. Hugely influential on me and Their music was just a class above everything else barring the Stranglers perhaps. Confident and articulate, what's not to like? Thanks gor yhe many years of musical enjoyment I have had from Siouxsie - and The Banshees.
Well yeah. He was asking some really dumb questions. Especially the one about whether or not they got backlash for their cover of Dear Prudence. These interviewers really should do a little research.
love siouxsie always will one of the greatest bands they will never go out of style anyone who thinks they will, doesn't know enough about music 🎶 in my opinion.... they wouldn't be where they were though if bands like the Beatles or the rolling stones hadn't been brave enough to pave the way for bands like the banshees then their experimenting led to some really awesome music so many memories so thank you for that Sioux you are an icon
So cool! I had tickets for a Siouxsie show sometime in the 80's in Portland, OR, and she was there, but didn't play because she was ill. So bummed. Thanks for this! I've loved her stuff for ages.
Looks like they're being interviewed in 360 The Restaurant in the CN Tower. The whole restaurant rotates as you dine, and it's still there today. You can see the background moving behind Siouxsie.
I think it’s very interesting how artists like them were not truly seeking fame and recognition, they simply got it because they had a spark to them. Yet so many artists these days try so hard to impress the public and each other at every turn, and it ends up feeling not quite real.
oooooo thank you.....I was trying to remember that 1#hit that made her and The Banshees in USA! I was living in a small town Midwest Stateand hear her on MTV.
One remarkable interview, thnk tou very much. it was one of the most prolix and smarts interview that i ever saw of siouxsie and the banshees....ohh Canadá. Congratulations i salute u from Rgentina, Sudamerica. MatiasArricauPalacio.
I love this absolutely talented and artistic woman. Her music, styles, and makeup are too cool. “Peek-A-Boo” and “Hong Kong Garden” are classics of the New Wave and post punk alternative rock era.
Learned two important things. 1. That motley crue wasnt the only group to cover helter skelter and 2. That dear prudence was originally a Beatles song and not a siouxie original. Damn who da thunk it.
If I had been with her from the very beginning instead, I could have probably persuaded her not to ruin her voice through smoking and excessive partying. It's sort of tragic that she did, while aging gracefully, unlike most female artists who aged the opposite way. I would like to see her play gigs with Poison Ivy and Candy del Mar of the Cramps. That would be a hot band
Did he really just ask if there was a lot of negative response to their version of Dear Prudence? This interview was 3 years after that was released, maybe 4 actually. Was he paying any attention at all? They got nothing but praise for their cover of that song, even from Paul McCartney... who once said it was one of his favorite Beatles covers of all time.
That tired old councilman appears in the great rock and roll swindle.... I don't think hes alive anymore... he was barely alive then... no vision of the future.
Ted Cantu Yes, I remember him from The Great Rock n Roll Swindle, and think he's excellent as he just makes an old fool of a dinosaur out of himself. And yes - he is definitely taking a dirt nap at this point.

Your're Sioux! :-)
Lucky you!!
'Tinderbox' is one of the greatest records of the 1980s....its up there with 'Thriller' and 'Purple Rain'...a truly stunning album....
Leave thriller away and i say yes :D
I always thought Siouxsie WAS POPULAR. Who cares if she wasn’t ‘mainstream’ she was always too cool for that. In fact, it always enhanced her appeal.
'the lack of desperation in success terms has also proved a point in the fact that it has kept us together'. one awesome lady. it also means longevity in musical terms. she will never be out of fashion.
Her eyebrows are iconic.
Iconic eyebrows? Bahaha excellent

Wow! I've always liked Siouxsie and the Banshees! What a beauty too!
Such a smart bunch. Unlike some others,Siouxsie's integrity is still intact.
Love their non-commercially driven approach to music. If only there was more of that attitude around these days. Sure she looks great here, but what she's saying is much greater.
She is a Living legend, she and the various Banshees have made some great music.

I love the chords in the chorus of "Christine"...so cool!
She will always be my top 10 fav
Her voice is very calming
So many great songs from this group
I think they ended up doing rather well in the United States. I certainly purchased their records--and saw them in concert.
Yeah, about a year after this interview took place they broke through with "Peek-A-Boo".
Siouxie and the Banshees are true artists. I love their integrity and style. Much love to you all, from America.
She will always be considered underground!
this little freak in north america always loved you!!!!
You must be in Canada?

OMG ! .... So did i ! .... Still wish i did today... Oh well, better to have lost to Goth then to never have Gothed at all !
I love the combo of Siouxsie and the fruity posh accents of the exploiter class at the beginning :-)

3.15 seconds in absolutely mesmerized by her.. loving those eyes
I actually thank The Banshees for introducing me to "Dear Prudence."
lol she shot him down at every turn.
She does this in most of her interviews
Canadians - as opposed to Canadien/nes - as it is have been t o o impotent for her to have savoured her shrewdness atop godawful Rotton-Ø there 🍺

That is her nature , mind you, she’s a Brit punk rocker a bi and the lead vocals for this awesome band I’m gay for Siouxi
Wow, this is the best interview I've ever seen.
Now that is how you do a interview!!! xxxx Siouxsie your gorgeous xxx
Budgie is so handsome. Best drummer and perfect combo with the Queen.

I would hope she would say fuck the queen. She is anti patriotism.
The British Honors System is completely outdated.
ideal perfect woman! siouxsie!
She does look very beautiful here... I always thought that Budgie looks a lot like Harpo Marx tho'... : )
Thanks for the post

it was cool seeing the old footage of Steve Severin being a young menacing punk!!
Bailey was more of a petulant punk.

They did have quite a sizable and devoted following in "the states" way before Tinderbox was released.
Lol at everyone trying to define what type of music genre the banshees were doing
The host with the British accent is Daniel Richler, son of late Canadian author Mordecai Richler.
