Gust Front and Windshear Wreaks Havoc on MSP Airport Operations
Вставка

- Prior to thunderstorm activity in the vicinity of southern MN, an impressive gust front battered MSP. Peak wind gusts reached about 50 knots. Windshear prompted many go arounds. The winds shifted from about a 120 heading to 240 before swinging back around to favor 12L/R.

Great videos...again!
Thanks! 🍻
Your videos make my day. To see this in person I have to drive all the way from RST, and many times I am disappointed after coming to the viewing area only to find that all aircrafts are landing/ taking off from the farther runways (the one behind us).
Really great video taken from observation area. Been there many times for lunch, lol.
Thanks! Haha, I can’t tell you how many times I’ve gotten Subway or Culver’s when I’m out there.
@@twincitiesaviator only wish there was a porta jon , lol
Awesome catches of CRJ200s, CRJ900s, & B717-200s the gusts and wind made it very interesting operation wise keep up the hard work.
Great job, as usual. Glad you didn't get blown off your ladder.
Thanks! Always a win 😁
Awesome footage!
Thanks!
I came in as SKW3839 last night
I think the plane of the day was The Mini mad dog 717 great plenty of delta action
I saw you yesterday idk if you saw me but did you see the c-40b Air Force plane!? It supposedly had the First Lady on it.
I saw lots of folks, usually dunno who’s who unless you tell me! I didn’t see the C40.
0:45 If the windsock ever looks like that when you fly, please be sure to fasten and TIGHTEN your seatbelt. 😄
🤣
Is that Aero_K jet on its way for delivery? Weird sight
On its way for delivery and diverted here due to a mechanical problem.
Great job 👏 but the poor grass! It’s only June!
Seriously! Looks like post snowmelt or fall!
As a retired Air Traffic Controller it was not surprising to see this controller have to send acft around. It’s never going to work putting someone into position to hold with another acft 3 mile final. She is an accident waiting to happen.
My first thought when I heard "sun country go around" was wow! She really screwed that up clearing delta for 12R!
Disagree entirely. When she lined up the 757, SCX was on a 4.5 mile final, this is plenty of room to get a departure out. Maybe the RJ was slow off the runway, maybe SCX didn’t slow in final as expected. A lot of things need to go right in order to land and depart on the same runway consistently, and that all goes out the window with weather.
Use caution throwing your retired controller badge around unless you have experience working at this particular facility. Every tower is different.

Newbie here. That Sun Country go around at 2:30 looks pretty close. Is that common? Love this channel, by the way.
Yeeeeah common enough. All it takes is tight spacing to begin with and the departing aircraft taking its time.
Glad you enjoy the videos!
