    Bought this for a 68 Chevelle after researching ways to do this. This was the best investment I’ve done in a long time. Total time: 5 minutes for removing the passenger upper, and 5 minutes for removing the passenger lower. And that includes setting up the tool. Definitely worth it.

    I was taught to use air impact hammer to "vibrate" them out and in in standard uppers. Lowers were a little harder. 3 hrs book time, 20 min per side +alignment.

    I had a clunkity klunk issue so I bought a set of control arms. I had the car up, tires off and was ready to change them out when I saw that there were 2 bolts loose on one side and 1 on the other. Just a quick tightening and I would have been done with it all. Since I was half way there and beside me were 2 new Beck Arnley control arms, it was a no brainer. Well, the rest is history and they perform like a champ. Moral of the story is, check for loose bolts before you spend money replacing something that knocks and Klunks.

    What type of grease to use to lubricate new suspension bushings back into place? I already have Mobil 1 multipurpose grease (petroleum?), 3M silicone paste (heard it's inappropriate for suspensions), 3M copper anti-seize, and lithium grease. Something else? My bushings are rubber/plastic.

    You HAVE to install a spacer between the U on the control arm to prevent bending it inward. The large socket is the receiver. The bushings may have to be adjusted to touch the frame.

    • @ridetechtv

    Thanks, this seems relatively easy.
    But it seems like most garages will NOT do this. They want to charge me for the complete part (i.e. lower control arm) instead.
    Are they trying to scam me and increase their profits, or is there another reason ?

    • @crashk1955
      @crashk1955 6 років тому +1

      At a garage it makes sense to replace the part. Cost of labor to replace the bushings would be more.

    Well if you are doing bushings you should do balljoints right? Is this tool going to do ball joints doubtful i can't think of how that would work. Ball joint press also will do bushings so buy one tool with multiple uses this tool can only do one thing. But you have to do ball joints anyway so balljoint press makes more sense to me than this.

    • @ridetechtv
      @ridetechtv  4 роки тому

      Yes john, this kit is for bushings alone, a press is typically required to remove ball joints.

  • @alinutzalin6346
    @alinutzalin6346 2 роки тому

    I don't know why people struggle using C clamps when they got space (holes) for those encapsulated bushings. Just use a threaded rod (big bolt) washers nuts and castellated sockets or normal ones to press them easily or remove them. I use power tools on them tho, never had a problem. I dislike C presses because the rod rotates, and move the parts along the way stopping it from going straight.

    Ride Tech does not make a kit for most GM cars from 1967-81. My Camaro does not have a hole with threads on the end of the cross shaft, it has threads on the outside that are held in place by large washer and nut. I have never seen this kind of cross shaft. This will not work for many cars.
