It's incredible how Miles was right with there are no wrong notes in jazz, everything depends on the context, you can save yourself by fixing the wrong note with another one that will sound better, but it requires a lot of practice and experience. I loved the marble metaphor, the whole point of repetition and editing yourself, it's really a great concept for improvement and progress, I love this kind of video because your advice comes from years of conscious practice and hard work, this is priceless, I appreciate your effort a lot.
Really like the part where you talked about playing very dense and busy and then thinning out from there. I find this is the way I work. "Our life is frittered away by details. Simplify, simplify..." ----- Thoreau
Now, here is a man who knows the score, GREAT vid Janek...I'm really good friends with Vic Wooten and the Wooten Bros. and I fly to all kinds of places in Europe and hang out with them when they are on tour...Same with Marcus Miller etc...The 'REAL' guys...! Never saw Paul Jackson, he was and still is, an inspiration to me and he was amazing at doing the stuff you are talking about here...Never seen or met you either, but I like your playing very much man, so I hope so one day...Nice wishes, Simon
Waiting for the Black Friday sale to come up so I can buy more of your books. The 10 minute warm up is my go to for drilling metronome exercises. Love the videos! Thanks for making them ❤
Since I learned that C m pentatonics on one of your videos , I just apply that for everything hahahahaha is like bass solo ain't scary anymore and Opened my eyes to so many things I can do rather just play root 5th and octive, thank you man ❤ 🙏🏼
OOOH, what a jem! Not playing on the down beat after the fill. Yes we have to be there on the One, but does it always make the song better? Good stuff shipmate!

Thanks for the lesson. The Pentaonics book is such a valuable resource---one of several JG books I'm working with. Looking forward to the new one when it arrives later this month!

So glad I came across your channel a while back. Of all the bass channels on YT, I find yours is the most relatable in terms of content. 🙏
Rock on!👍
