    Thank you so much. I got one for Christmas in 1978 and loved it. Great memories

    I had one of the 1978 Merlins.
    I thought it was the greatest thing, futuristic. Hours of fun.

    I still have my original Merlin, and my Bank Shot, SplitSecond and Einstein! Considering that I drug those games with me everywhere it’s amazing they have survived in reasonably good shape.

    I got one of these for xmas back in 1978... and, being the friendless little shit that I was, it quickly became a constant companion until the sad day it stopped working.
    I recently picked up one and nearly drowned in nostalgia while driving my roommates insane with beeps, boops, and bloops.

      The nostalgia is real.

      @@kurt.leucht Part of the appeal was the form factor you talked about...
      Because of its design, along with the games, it could be a communicator, a control panel, or a remote control for a giant robot , it was brilliant.

    Loved Merlin when I was a kid. My best friend had one and I wanted one SO bad but never got one. They were so cool 😎

      And they looked like a futuristic wireless phone for some reason!

    What a great piece of late 70's technology with such wise programming that could appeal from simple games to complex mind benders. I'd remembered this game and your video was exactly the depth of walk-through I wanted. Thanks mate, keep up the great stuff!

      Awesome! I was hoping there was an audience out there for this! Thanks for the feedback!

    Wow a friend posted a pic of Merlin today and YT led me here to 'nostalgize', thanks for the memory lane walk; so many school bus hours spent on this one... But now I have to know where to get that t-shirt!

      @kurt.leucht  3 роки тому

      Thanks for writing! There are a million online shops selling that t-shirt!

      Wait, did UA-cam read your mind (or browser history) and automatically show you my Merlin video or did you actually search UA-cam for Merlin videos?

    • @argos142
      @argos142 3 роки тому

      @@kurt.leucht I actually searched for Merlin , no mind reading involved (as far as I know).

    Really good video quality and scripting! I loved the video. Used to have one of the newer Merlins with the rubber buttons growing up and other than having to put tape over the speaker to make it quieter it was definitely a favorite toy of mine.

    Thanks Kurt and greetings from London. My sister got one of these for xmas and we had hours of fun playing together. The bleeps are iconic. A great video and a perfect trip down memory lane.

    Thanks for the memories and for running through all the game variations. I had one of these, which I thought was pretty cool when I was a kid, until a friend went to Japan and brought home the Japanese clone version - called "Dr Smith" - even cooler!

    This game would of been a hit in the late 70s early 80s so addictive back then

      Probably a very simple circuit board inside, I suspect. Broken wires would be easy to fix, but other issues I bet would be more difficult to figure out.

    I can't seem to find the version I own with a number pad and the speakers that say its name.
