Around The World Season 3 Marathon
When your staff talked about their favorite comfort food and mentioning your moms really touched a soft spot, my mom just passed away in October. It didn’t make me cry for the first time in a long time and made me feel good to hear your memories. It made me smile. Thank you for sharing a personal part of your life.
IM SO SORRY I HOPE YOU HAVE A BETTER YEAR THIS YEAR!!!! ❤️
Aww I’m sorry. Hopefully your okay ❤️
Normally, I am a trolling a hole on UA-cam, cuz the internet, however, your comment is touching. Thanks for sharing.

I'm sorry for your loss. It took a while for me to not cry after my mom died. Sending healing thoughts.

So, comfort food is basically any food + mother's love.
Same for me as well.
Yes, sometimes they're easy to make, but remind you of your childhood and how you liked these dishes.

I sometimes wish I could connect with people that feel so incredibly rooted in their 'food culture'. Food is not only a part of one's identity (and heritage), but cooking is also a universal language that transcends 'language'. It is not a means to an end - it really defines us as a civilization, and I feel like I can connect to different heritages by cooking their food.
And let me just say that no single culture is an island, and (although I am not North American) even the cultures said to be bland in their food culture are just as exciting as anything I know (and I take pride in knowing).
You just don't recognize what's peculiar about what you eat because you're used to it. :)
Talk, talk… i always yawn when i'm interested!
@@user-vl4nc4hh8c So what's this supposed to mean? Is a comment section not for sharing someone's thoughts? Whatever they are? Lol, you're a silly goose 👏
I am Dutch, Indonesian origin, working and living now in Luxembourg. As I am stuck in Luxembourg because of the Covid lock down I am making my comfort food right now. Zuurkool and porc chops and lots of gravy.😋 Happy New Year.
I am a German living in America when I was small in school we took a field trip to an old-style German restaurant and had wienerschnitzel for lunch it was pretty good do you have any of that there?
@@hansbecker3710 Fur schnitzel essen wir immer in Brasserie des Nations Sàrl www.nations.lu/carted.html
Im native Dutch and my mom always cooks Indonesian lol so funny to hear you love zuurkool because even alot of Dutch people dont like it, i sure do.
I would love a Cook Book with all these recipes. They all look amazing!
Excellent video! No exaggerated narrative voices. No extraneous content. A pleasure to watch. Thank you.
yeah but they should display the name of each dish and also show they country/origin longer... i mean nobody is able to understand all those names without showing them....
loooooool
They‘ve proven to be ZERO fact checking………
The „döner kebab“ is NOT a sandwich eaten in turkey. There they eat it on a plate, with the bread served separately!!!
It‘s ONLY a sandwich in germany, it was invented by turkish immigrants in germany when they were looking for a way to serve proper „food to go“ and most turks in turkey don‘t even know about this form of serving it...!
@@elisabethwittner5539
It is commonly available rolled in a thin pita (pide) bread. Kind of like a sandwich.
@@elisabethwittner5539
Not so, Elisabeth. From my personal experience, in Iraq, Kurdistan, Sudan, Darfur, Egypt and Saudi Arabia, it may be served on a roll of bread similar to a hot dog bun, or in a pita, where it is called a shwarma.. In Turkey itself, it also may be rolled up in a type of thin pide. A little knowledge can lead to incorrect conclusions.
Unless you started out hungry like me....now victim of good food that l have no access to right now....( sad and hungry )
I’m realizing that every culture has a special bread meal, noodle soup, sandwich and soup 😋 I’d eat all of these
That's not just Kheer. It's a specific type typically called Seviyan Kheer (shortened to Seviyan).
The chip butty made me laugh. Us Americans with our grilled cheese being shamed while the British stuff potatoes in bread. I can't decide who's signature sandwich is healthier. Lol.
You forgot South Germany. We have very special hand and home made noodles called "Spätzle". Check them out yourself by searching with "Spaetzle". If they formed small and somehow round they are called "Knöpfle", same dough, but an other region, also in the South.
Yes, one of my favorite noodle dishes now. I have to go to French restaurant and order “Spaetlze a ‘Alsacienne”. to get my German noodles….funny!

Thank you, I've eaten a few of these, and heard of some others...but man o man...you just opened up a new world of stuff that looks fabulous that I have NEVER heard of or seen before.
I'm Dutch, but I have never heard of someone eating stroopwafels as dessert. We just eat them as cookies, quite often with a mug of hot steaming coffee or tea. We put the stroopwafel on our mugs so the syrup melts.
I discovered them a few years ago. Stroopwaffles are awesome especially when warmed over your steaming coffee 😍😍😍
Really great editing and reasonable commercial distribution. Great job! Thank you!
I love Pho, my absolute favorite on a bitter cold day.
I am American, we are blessed to have a very good Vietnamese restaurant in my hometown.
Excellent presentation 👏. I now know a lot more of dishes around the world and their origins.
Excellent video thank you for publishing it.

I started watching not knowing it was almost 2hrs long haha

Comfort food theme has connection with family. Really touching stories.
In Germany, potato dumplings are served with schnitzel only extremely rarely. We like to schnitzel rather fries, potato salad or fried potatoes.
When I went to Hungary and travelled across Europe with my family, I loved being in the heat in a tshirt and short sitting and eating ice cream in a hot chimney cake cone, it was a chimney cake with the bottom closed for the soft serve or hard scoop ice cream to not drip all over my 2nd grade hands as we talked and looked at the castle on a hill far away
Thai pork fried rice. I long for it. They use a yellow oil of some type. Lite and nutty.real fluffy too.the vegetables are always chuncy yet transparent. Real comfort food and good liberty food, while visiting as apart of a task force while serving in the U.S Navy Pattaya beach, and Bangkok.
Pretty sure the oil is sesame oil. It’s quite tasty.
@BloodSweatandFears pretty sure palm or peanut oil...Sesame oil isn't abundant in Thailand. But the ones I referred, are for sure.
Indomie is so popular in West Africa I think most have forgotten it's origins. Admittedly I didn't even know it originated in Indonesia.
It’s crazy because it has “indo” in the name 🤣 but honestly before there was a kind of “authentic ramen” craze in the US, I pretty much had no idea Top Ramen was originally Chinese/Japanese. It’s so Americanized it’s like pizza.
I actually live in Indonesia and even with the pandemic, people still hang out *outside* and eat indomie.
@@bonesandhearts5683 ok Emily
It’s also really common in North Africa

I just love your videos , I can Lear so much ! Congratulations !
In Pakistan most of our comfort food is " biryani " rice with fried chicken /meat with veggies infused with chicken /meat and a potato.
Beautiful. This makes it every time.
I have 2 dishes as my favorite. My mother's meatloaf and her prime rib. Meatloaf smothered in brown gravy and mushrooms with red skin mashed potatoes and sauteed corn. Or a slice of prime rib with green beans and scalloped potatoes. And her come made mac and cheese with crumbs..... I would have that as my last meal I love it that much. ❤️
I'll be over shortly. 😋What wine can I bring? 😅
Very comprehensive food documentary. I enjoyed this show very much. I've eaten several of these delicious foods.

Well i'm 56, in Australia and grew up in Queensland, Gold Coast.

Donna Kabab hands down favourite. We make it in a flat bread and toast it before serving. So good after a night out.

As someone from the subcontinent (Pakistan)I would like to make a tiny correction that the indian noodles are not called Kheer they are called Savayan or Sheer khorma. While Savayan are made using a kind of noodles (as shown in the video), Kheer is actually made from rice and is similar to a rice pudding.
yes!!!! tell em gurl!!! i had to go back and double check cause i couldn't believe they called it kheer

One of my favourite Polish summer dishes is mashed Strawberries, Sugar and Creme Fresh over noodles. The noodles make it filling, creme fresh means it's also not too sweet - keeping it somewhat of a savoury territory as it's a meal; not a dessert. You also make use of the abundance of Strawberries, which is considered one of Poland's main exports.
Wow, never heard of that. Sounds very special.
In my parent’s region of Mexico, Puebla, they have Cemitas. Similar to tortas but with a bread that’s super crunchy on the outside and it’s hella loaded with cheese that looks like string cheese but way richer, breaded or smoked pork, avocado, sauce, tomato and papalo. Regular tortas are great, my favorite ones are the ham, chicken milanesa, and al pastor kinds.
That sounds delicious 😍

Masala Chai's the best. There can be several more spices than the ones you have described. We also add nutmeg and Saffron to it.
Jollof rice is so delicious ☺
Honestly, I love Thai Iced Tea. That sweetened condensed milk they add is great, and I can tell by the hue if it's the right mix for me. I like it bright orange, so not too full of milk, but not so dark it's leaning towards brown, which would be too bitter for me.

23:59 Check out the amount of oil in that pan. This is how you make what I've learned is called Spanish eggs. It's really just a fried egg, but unlike the typical friend egg fried in just a pat of butter it's fried in *lots* of oil and you also baste/spoon the oil over the egg while it's cooking. It isn't cooked for long, maybe 90 seconds or 2 mins tops, so you end up with a runny yolk and a cooked white, and it is delicious.
Delicious if you like runny yolks... 🤢
@@Rai_S82 runny yolks are fine tho. it's ok to not like them though
