They're not to be trusted. You guys know it and keep going back to give them "chances". The closest I've been to a professional stylist was my older sister who wanted to do hair and whenever she would do it she would use us as her personal art canvases without regard or care for what we wanted and now she does loc installs. She's such a jerk. Certain careers seem to attract controlling people. This same sister went to a stylist and had her hair cut pixie cut length and eventually was fine with it and continued to go back to the same stylists for years until they had a disagreement over a style. My dad paid for my mom to go to a shop when I was very young and she left with back length hair or bra strap length and came back with a Hallee Berry cut. Because back then there weren't many weave installs and the stylists made money dependent on styling and perming, I think they would cut hair short continuously so that you would have to go to them to look presentable short permed hair is the most highly manipulated hair. It's disgusting. I learned my lesson then. Hair is these people's livelihoods so like most businesses they need you to need them and they will angle the situation whichever they have to to best accomplish a reliance on their service but if they did their job and had more skills (natural hair care, braiding and sewing, blow outs and flat irons, trims, protein/strengthening treatments, deep conditions, detangling session, protective hair take downs, child natural hair maintenance--like you could take your child to them to get weekly hair care like washing and deep conditioning or masks or treatments--if they made their own natural products, if they could do consultations and tell mothers and parents how to best care for their child's hair and how to address stunted growth) then they would be invaluable but usually stylists do some of these things but not all of these things.

@@ASmith-jn7kf it's funny how the people who want hair care professionals to do do so much, and pay them so little! Y'all also want people to do what you want them to do, then complain when you're not seeing the results that you wanted, when they tried to help you out in the first place! Yes , I'm hyped up and all in ❣ This video and your vibe took me back to 2010 when we were ALL about growing naturally healthy long hair and You /Curly Proverbs, Long Hair Dont Care (RIP) , Keep It Simple Sistas, and all the rest that I did not name were deeeeeep in our hair regimen routines and it was truly a life style. Then we all reached our goals ( waist length) and some cut ✂️ it ( me via a beautician 👎), some went into other ventures ( make up etc..), and some started producing products and became game changers (you). I went to the shop back on 2017 and got my so called ends trimmed 🙄 and had the same experience and it took me 2 years to get it back however I wasn't as enthusiastic about my regimens and I went thru breakages along the way and now I'm back focused solely on the HEALTH of my hair and thats what led me back to your channel about a year ago . I had to subscribe to an OG in the game because I'm 47 now and all I care is that it THICK THICK and HEALTHY. Yes its still long to tail bone but I focus on keeping it THICK now due to female hormone changes and keeping the breaking at bay due to me coloring my greys ( I won't rock them 🤷‍♀️). I'm happy for your Peace that you are in and your Drive to get back what you Love and I'm here with you every step of the way which reminds me I need to click your link and order me some more Alma because I'm running low. 💜💐💚🌼🧡🌻💛🌿

@@lorrainealexander2395 Yes , I don't knock women who rock the greys and I think they look awesome however I'm just not ready for it . I do not dye my hair but I use rinses that don't have alcohol and harsh dying chemicals and here lately the Hena has been holding me down just right. I don't mind grey anywhere else in my hair but never in the front on my edges. I'm happy for you and your hair journey and you've chosen to follow Curly Proverbs so your hair will sore in health and length. Always remember to focus on health and the length will automatically follow.

I definitely notice the difference. It's more like a curly bob now. Your length now is close to my length goal. I don't want super long hair, at least now now. But I want a nick thick, curly bob that's about collar bone length. Stretched out, just past bra strap length or waist length would be good for me. Can you do videos on how to care for naturally high porosity hair? I know henna helps with this, and I also plan to include ACV rinses to help close the cuticle.

Hi CurlyP. I'll be 53 Feb 23rd 2023, I'm timestamping this because I want to try this routine and see the change from now till next year. My hair thinning and shedding ALOT!! It grows but, I'm also losing it at the same time. I have every herb and diy ingredient you can think of, and my hair continues to come out. I have 4b at the nape of my neck and the rest is 4c. Over a year ago I put a texturizer on my hair to soften it up and make it more manageable, but now i have about 4 inches of new growth and the perm is on the bottom, im thinking I should do a big chop, my hair stretched is top of my bra strap in back, sides to my armpits, is long but not a healthy long. The thinning and shedding is making me only want to wash every 2 wks instead of every week. I pre poo, detangle, wash, use lco method, every two three days remoisturize with a tea and sealant. Every time more hair comes out. I use ayurvedic herbs and diys, but it's still coming out. Please help, Im ready to do this challenge, but Im thinking i need to cut it all off first. Thank You. You are awesome and may God continue to bless you!

Your definition is still popping darl’n. I’ve got my home girl on board because the exact same thing that happened to you, happened to her. So we want to know when the knee cap challenge is starting & exactly what we’re using and what we need to buy from the CPZ site so we’re prepared. I did your challenge last year and my hair is still thriving from then. EXCITED FOR THE KNEE CAP CHALLENGE 🤗🤗😃😃💥❤️❤️❤️

Looking forward to this one for sure! ❤️ Had my hair trimmed with a silk press for the first time in 8 years and let me tell you, my expression definitely matched yours. Lol
It was more of a cut with all the dead ends. I am happy though that I can start this new challenge with healthy hair and ends. So let's get it gurl! 😜

I made the decision to wear my hair straight for two years and made it a year and a half before deciding I wanted my curls back. That meant cutting 7 to 9 inches because my ends were straight straight. I understand the attachment to hair length because I was but chose to have that much cut off to end that attachment.
With that said I remember the time I went to a famous natural hair salon in NYC and the stylist cut off 8 inches! I was hurt. She also styled it poorly. I now have a stylist I love who isn't scissor happy. I know it's easy to continue to go to someone you've gone to for years. But in future find a stylist that specializes in natural hair. They're more gentle while detangling and use less heat when straightening.

This happens to me every single time I allow someone into my hair. The last time I had my hair done by a "stylist", I had 10 inches missing from my nape. I was done.

It’s definitely a lot shorter. But it looks ridiculously healthy. Your curls are Poppin like crazy. That’s why your washing car was so easy. That’s why I watch data 20 minutes because there’s no matting or tangling when you have a full head of good ends after a haircut. And it’s still long and beautiful. Like you said, just use it as motivation to get to your new goal. ❤

Yeah went for a trim last yr, came home witha mini big chop. While i was happy most of my splits are gone, i was saddened about being pushed back by two years worth of growth 😭
