Herr bleibe bei uns,
denn es will Abend werden
und der Tag hat sich geneiget....
Sublime with exquisite harmony, especially from the left-side two counter tenors which were amazing! Thank you for sharing!
Beautifully sung! With excellent pronunciation of our difficult German language! Thank you!
Beautiful also the D flat bass note at the end 👍🏻
Bravo, bravissimo!!!!!!!!
They are all just wonderful, but I particularly love the finely drawn lines of that fabulous high tenor / counter-tenor
Is that Joseph Wicks? (tenor)?
@@patriciamaguire9914 The countertenor on the left is Guy James with a truly gifted voice!
@@joypaulson6093 Thanks so much Joy :) Guy is fabulous too :) but 3rd from our left is the magically-lined voice I was so wow-ed by - bucket-list item to sing in a rehearsal with them!
That falsetto is beyond impressive!
I was wondering if he is a counter tenor, he has so much power behind it.
Spectacular. What I wouldn't give to have been there!
Better than chocolate. It was a pleasure to hear the good intonation. As well as the high musicality. It was like a reset for the ears. I particularly liked the man with the red beard. He sings so relaxed and wonderful
Beautifully sung , in such a perfect setting such as Ely cathedral.
Great performance...!!! Chapeau!
Just lovely. Thanks
Perfection
Absolutely gorgeous
Beautiful!!!
Simply excellent!
Glorious. Thank you.
Ely, great venue, lovely perfermers. Thanks.
Stunning! Keep up the good work gentlemen.
Lovely. There are very few pieces I have not sung nor heard but this is one. Many thanks.
Glorious!
So beautiful and majestic.
Beautiful sound gentlemen. Fabulous setting.
Beautiful Gentlemen🎵
Beautiful ❤
Beautifully done, but does anyone else feel that the character seems different in this key somehow?
the mixture of the key and the ensemble gives it a very warm sound
Yyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyýyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyýyyyýyyyyyý .
. Gi and the girls room
right!
Still beautiful, isn’t it?
Sublime - my pupil as just arranged it for 6 celli!
That chord at 2:30. Yup...
🌹🌹🌹👏👏🌿🕊
Superb. Nice to a Sikh among them. Don't know why they feel the need of a conductor though.
Conductor sings a mean bass. That's his low D. Voces 8 has a singer conductor too
This is a great rendition of a romantic classic and the Gesualdo Six are a great find! But I would like to hear them singing some works by their namesake - trickier altogether and fiendishly difficult to pitch well!
Having heard them sing items from all musical eras, I can assure you that they sing them equally beautifully.

İ don't understand what they are saying, or anything... This is not my religion but well this is the beautifullest thing!!!
Bide with us, for evening shadows darken,
And the day will soon be over, soon be over,
O bide with us, for evening shadows darken.
Would be so nice to know the names of these wonderful musicians!
Excuse me, can you tell me what is the meaning of Abenlied, Op. 69, No.3 (Josef Rheinberger) ?
This is the translation by Sir John Rutter:
Bide with us, for evening shadows darken,
And the day will soon be over, soon be over,
O bide with us, for evening shadows darken.
Thank you... 🙏
The title means "song at evening". The words seem to be very similar to the English hymn "Abide with Me"--perhaps the German poem was the inspiration for the English verses?
@@xris9593 they are similar because they both refer to the same bible verse (Luke 24:29)
Who is the Sikh baritone? He isn't listed anywhere on their website!
I don't know but he's great! Understated but silky
Gopal Kambo. Quite the musician. As of Jan 2019 he is listed on their site, under "Meet the Team"--scroll down to Regular Deputies. www.thegesualdosix.co.uk/meet-the-team/
*Abendlied :)
wonderfully sung but kinda bothers me because of the different key haha... yet amazing!!
I suppose that's the risk of singing with a men-only ensemble, and this time the bass seems to have paid the price ;).
I wanna join!!! I wanna be your soprano!!! hahahaha
Singing is very lovely but the fact that they only used 1 stereo mic meant 70% of the acoustic got lost, which is unfortunate...
Beautiful singing as opposed to the camera work which I find dull, static, predictable repetative and unimaginative.
