If you have heavy and gale resist of course. please never try to fight duke with a dagger or gun.
He's really not bad with Dagger due to the sheer flourish bulldozer spam. I killed him on level 17 with a nemit's Sickle attuenemtless darksteel plate build, and it was pretty easy- I don't know about guns, though. I imagine revolver is best due to the others not firing fast enough to parry trade

He shhould have something like chaser where after a significant number of posture breaks in a short amount of time, he repels you and his posture permanently increases by 1
