Used to see this band at The Draught House near Akron. Some of the best years of my life . Moved to LA in 1980 and was frustrated to find that the rock scene in NE Ohio was better ( i.e.: Devo, The Dead Boys, The Rubber City Rebels, Hammer Damage, etc.). In my opinion, the NE Ohio rock scene never received the recognition it deserved.
The draught house used to serve 2 kinds of beer... 3.2 if you were 16 and 7% if you were 21. I was there. Me and my buddy got in the dressing room with Left End and smoked a joint with them before they came on stage in tuxedos. Kids today have no idea how fun the 70s were. 😂😂
My sister and i were on stage dancing to the song on our 18th birthday. It was originally the Tomorrow Club! I spent many night# dancing the night away (under age of course) with my friends. Some of my best memories from '74 to "78. Does anyone remember going to a little place called Heaven. It was just a cross the street from the YSU stadium us? I saw j girls there.
I played in a high school band, from New Castle Pa,...we were called Abu Reflex. Our guitarists mother managed the New Castle Playhouse, and set up the gig. He now owns Palette Production Music, out of Nashville...I continue to play with Pipe Dreams, out of Hermitage Pa, in our 21st year! Blessed to have a regional, but successful, music career.
RIP Dennis T Menass you were one of the best & Left End rocked harder than any band I ever saw. I have many great memories of you & Left End from way back when.
So sorry to hear about Dennis T Menace passing. Every time they played in Akron. My girlfriend and I made Lasagna for the roadies Michael Bobby and Gary. Those were the days. Cant believe it's been almost 50 years ago.
Great song ! This band should have been bigger than they were. This is my personal favorite of theirs. Not on the Spoiled Rotten lp so I had to hunt down the original 45 on Peppermint Records. Paid quite a bit for a mint copy. Worth it.
The first time I saw Left End live was in the Spring of 1981, my senior year in High School. There were two girls I knew who both wanted to go and see Left End. So, we headed for downtown Youngstown to a place called The Agora Club. I was totally blown away. Here was a local group from Youngstown, Ohio that rocked harder and sounded better than most stuff on the radio. It was an amazing time. We went back again for their 10th year anniversary show, also at The Agora, and waited in line to get in. I saw Left End 3 other times after that. Dennis had amazing vocal power and he wasn't afraid to use it. My condolences to his family, friends and of course the fans.
I remember the Agora! I actually remember one Battle of the Bands sponsored by WHOT, that had LE and other bands, that took place in the Wedgewood Plaza parking lot in Austintown about a mile from my house. RIP Dennis!
Thanks for posting these videos! I was there the night this was recorded live at the Park Inn! First time I saw them was 1980 at Idora Park. I saw Dennis and the guys hundreds of times through the years, always a great time!
GREAT band. I remember around '78 sneakin into the Youngstown Agora with a fake ID and feelin hitting me in the chest as I walked through the doors. They were playing The Police-When the World is Runnin Down. I remember Dennis riding a bike onto the stage the Cyclone Rider. Awesome, good times.
Please accept my sympathy for your great loss. I didn't know your dad personally but he made a huge impact on a 15 year old budding musician that snuck into the Youngstown Agora around 1980. I never forgot the energy coming from him and the band that night.
I'm not sure but I think this was the bar I worked at The Bombshelter in New Castle. Had to be 2002 or 2003. I worked security. Dennis told me before the show my job was to stand by his girlfriend all night and make sure nobody bothered her!
I love how most comments here tell some anecdote about being sneaky little rock n rollers. To all that shared, im one of you! Ohio rocks! 😂😂😂
Man, those were some great times in my life❤

My first real gig was at the Tomorrow Club...we opened for a band called Barnstorm! Met a guy named Joe Walsh, the rest is history.

I'd catch them most often at Cedars. Great live band and this is coming from a punk rocker!
