This is where I grew up from 1973 to 1994 that was my stomping ground. I was right on the Bronx Mount Vernon border literally two blocks away. And then right over the bridge we had Yonkers. Boy it’s crazy to think I’m probably less than 20 minutes away, but night and day difference from the crime I grew up with I mean Wakefield is pretty rough. We could do shootouts in front of the house and cops wouldn’t even come and from what I could see it hasn’t gotten any better in the last 30 years since I’ve been gone, I can’t believe it’s been that long. But I do love these videos and I also use the Wonder app on virtual reality because I can literally go to my old house and walk around the neighborhood and see how it’s like. I enjoy seeing my birth home. I come back to these videos often, we are in 2024 February 17 but I’ve saw this video multiple times in the last three or four years. I think the video I saw today you were in Taiwan I have to say you are the original walking tour legend in this field.
I too was born in Mount Vernon Hospital 11/28/1942. How I miss my home town from my exile in Arizona. Thank you, Action Kid, for bringing me back!
Glad I could bring you back to Mount Vernon!
I was raised 2 blocks from Mt Vernon and my sis had a house in Fleetwood for about 10 years. I left the Mt Vernon Bronx boarder area in 1995. Even from than to now it’s unrecognizable but I can’t believe that’s almost 30 years ago wow. In Back to the future they went back 30 years and it seemed so much further back. I also find it fascinating that people start out in Mt Vernon ( or the Bronx) and end up all over the world. I come back to this video in particular because action kid walks right by my old block ,white Plains rd and Penfield St. A few blocks from the Mt Vernon Boarder.
AK - This was a trip down Memory Lane for me. Not only did you walk by the hospital where I was born in 1945, but you passed the house that my grandfather owned, the church I went to as a kid, and the intersection where I was a safety patrol crossing guard. You also strolled by what used to be the Selective Service office where I was sent off to the army in 1963. Fourth Avenue in the 1950's was quite the shopping area with many high quality stores, and was the place to go on Thursday nights when the stores stayed open until 9 p.m. But that came to an end in the late 1950's as more and more shoppers gravitated to the newly opened Cross County Shopping Center in Yonkers. After the army I returned to New York for a few more years, then spent some time in Connecticut and ended up in Texas, where I'm happy to be today. But I appreciate my New York roots, some of which go back to pre-Revolution colonial times. As others have mentioned, you'll have to do a return trip and walk the north side of Mount Vernon and the Fleetwood area. Thanks for the video.
A truly magnificent video by you. To be able to watch your video has changed my day. Thank you dear friend
Awesome tour through the Bronx AK! Rewatching now 👍 😉
I got some friends who lives on that big green house on Hoxie Street in the corner of 241st street & Baychester avenue & I usually grew up with these people by visiting & do some work & over by white plains road btw 234th & 235th streets as well & of the entire Wakefield of course til 2018 ❤️
Awesome
Dude! This brought back so many memories. I've done this walk and more hundreds of times. Thank you very much. This was awesome! Big Up!!!
Great video of Wakefield Bronx and Mt. Vernon, Westchester County NY. You are the best and seen many of your videos.
I love this video!!! I noticed Mt Vernon, NY has changed a lot since I first visited there in the summer of 1997. I've also like the tour you gave of the Wakefield section of the North Bronx which I've also visited once as well. I hope you to a door of Yonkers, White Plains and New Rochelle in your future videos.
I watched what I missed on replay. Very nice walk as always.
At 41:43 sec in you pass the back street of my house where my garage is St owen than at and 43:21 secs you past the front street where my house was Penfield st,only 2 blocks long I was on the sec block. Wow from 1973 to 1994 I lived there and I stayed hanging out there to 2003,have not been back since. Miss the action
I sure miss Wakefield alot & best memories 😢 ❤️❤️💯, also keep it up the good work
Finnaly you exploring north east bronx and mount vernon in westchester county
A lot of times I miss living in New York (Westchester County... Larchmont) so I come on UA-cam and binge watch your videos and then I miss it even more. 😄
i can hear and feel my Schwinn tires going over those sidewalks!
It was a very lovely walk. I enjoyed it immensel. Thanks ounce again.
ActionKid's first time in Mount Vernon. Used to live in the Fleetwood (much nicer than the rest of Mt Vernon) area of Mount Vernon up near Bronxville when I first relocated from Chicago to NYC 11 years ago. Commuted into the city via Metro North and was able to save up rent to move to Forest Hills Queen; which was a bit of a change.
BTW, for a second I thought the guy saying hi to you at 1:21:48 was German in Venice haha Looks and even sounds like him though
Haha, that guy does look like German in Venice! I'll definitely have to check out the Fleetwood section next time
@@ActionKid go to fleetwood next time
Yes I am considering Fleetwood There are a few buildings near Metro North Does this walk cover Fleetwood.
Nice new tour in NYC and as always I love the opening song, don't change it AK!👏😍
I’m in MV…you were literally 5min from my house. Love to see you venturing more into Westchester County.
Awesome!
Nice walk AK i haven't been around the Wakefield area in ages good to see how it looks like now thanks for the tour.
So glad to see the northern neighborhood of Bronx. It’s interesting for me and like to say thank you AK !🤗
Damn I always miss these live streams. You gotta set a schedule in so we all know. Love this channel mate btw what's your name? Actionkid?
Make sure to enable notifications! I don't have a set schedule for these live streams.
Great walk, loving the opening song, watching it now love from the UK x
There are actually mansions in Mount Vernon. You wouldn’t believe it in the back, but there are literally huge mansions. One of them was owned by Ringling Brothers, and their metal gates still has their name on it but it’s crazy what Fleetwood has you would never think. My sister had a house in Fleetwood From 2002 to about 2010. No mansion just a nice house. The one thing about Fleetwood is for Halloween. My sisters block would decorate and actually make haunted houses in the garages and people would come from everywhere the other side of Mount Vernon, the Bronx drop off buses of kids a block was crazy for Halloween. Crazy the whole two blocks Made haunted houses and it was nuts. My mother would give away 500 bags and finally closed down at midnight and yes used to count the bags and be proud of them. You would get groups of 40 or 50 kids out of shot the last time I passed for Halloween it wasn’t the same, everything changes
Also at the 26:37 mark you pass by a bar called Cullens ,a bar all my friends hung out at in the mid 90’s. It was also in the series Billions for 1 episode. Can’t believe that was almost 30 years ago….Im 50 now and it’s crazy to think I have more time behind me than in front of me.
In Mount Vernon plays a special role in my life that is where I had my first legal job at greens on fourth Avenue. It was a Woolworth type of store. Then I pumped gas on a little gas station on. I believe it’s called Malcolm X Blvd. now it is just a few blocks down from my house in the Bronx, I miss store greens and Woolworths someone needs to open up a Woolworth again.
Definitely put that recent shot of You on the road to the Brooklyn Bridge facing the camera on new pics intro, it was Great!!
As always enjoyable video to watch 👍!!! Thank you !!!
ActionKid, great man I love your videos! thanks a lot! keep on walking! please walk Harlem again Lenox Av. and all
I am having the best night! This has been so fun!!! So happy I found this channel!

There’s ya Garbage
Roads are better have ya ever been on Jerome Ave BX Bro ya comparing areas generalizing and comparing small pockets of each town do you know how big the Bronx is SMH this was poorly done
Great work AK..Enjoyed your walk as always. I ❤ seeing your fans greet you..
aK Love staying in White Plains. I use to go to the White Plains mall for Borders Book store
Thank you great walk❤️
21:35 I can't explain it in words, but there's something captivating about the elevated subway. 😎 1:18:00 AK should do a PSA about the small street signs. 😂 Thank you for this walk, AK. 🙂
The subway sounds heard around the world!
I'm not even from NYC and when I hear an el in a movie or show, I get excited!! (was born in md, tho raised in south!!) 🙂
@@barbarapettry6817 I'm in So. California, and we don't have elevated subways. The elevated transit we have is the Metro Rail, but it's nothing like the elevated subway. Therefore, it's such a treat to see and hear them on AK's walks. 🤗
Great walk. I really want to go there and take a walk.
Cool video A.K. 👍🏽
I only been to N.Y.C. Twice
Where abouts is Hells Kitchen?? Is it real?? 🤔
Place excuse my ignorance I'm from beantown...go RED S⚾️X. 😹😂😹
Hell’s Kitchen is in Manhattan.
Video muito legal meu amigo , Parabéns.
As always, great videos.
Another very interesting walk!!
Those trains go blamity blam. lol
Holly Molly that elevated train is loud.
Verizon always performs much poorer in low income areas. They cater to premium customers. You’d be better off using T-Mobile since they cater lower income areas.
Nice job brother .. good luck ❤️❤️❤️
come to 3rd ave! shoutout to the Bronx.
This area looks like a lot of the parts of Toronto in the midtown and Inner Suburban areas (the boroughs of North York, Etobicoke, East York, and York), especially with the wooden power poles.
Just the other day I went to the other part of mount Vernon by Eastchester-Dyre. It. Sooo quiet over there I think I like going the department stores over there just a little bit more.
Thank you ❤️❤️
Love your Bronx videos
Latitude & longitude. Just remember “lat is flat.”👍🏽
Next time come to the beautiful tree lined streets and residential homes of the north side
Yes, I'll have to visit there
Wao All of those cars day be here in the Bronx to 😱😱😱
I think the noise was your mic hitting your jacket or something and I know this was five years ago, so lol
i lived in wakefeild fond memories
You gotta say from the Bx to Mt. Vernon..not nyc to westchester
no way to empire state building. can take 2 hours to get to the top..
web says 40 mins for those 1860 steps. Has anyone here ever entered the "Race to the Top" before?
Nice walking video.
On ya way back to the bronx
very nice walk today
4th Avenue aint what it used to be
You were buffering on your opening sequence-you never had that problem on your other phone
That's ghetto driving!
Oh snap thats my gas station. Havent been there in a while. Guess im not going there again.gad is cheaper in mt vernon
Mount Vernon used to be such a beautiful town. The Southside was more of a Blue collar environment whereas the Northside was more upscale and affluent. Bottom line, MV was a safe town and known for its excellent Educational System. Sadly MV began its demise in the early 70s as drugs became a driving factor for crime in the Southside. Sad tale indeed
Same thing happened to the Bronx border. I grew up two blocks from Mount Vernon. I would say by the early 80s it was getting bad. I was born in 73 and I stories how safe it was. By the 80s it was bad bad enough that in the early 80s my 80 year old grandfather got mugged and kicked to the ground, we had a few cars stolen from the front and back of my house. We finally sold the house in 94. I still hung around till about 2003. Haven’t been back since I’m only 20 minutes away in Scarsdale New York but it’s like a different planet, virtually no crime. Only thing I miss is the action and people hanging out around here. Everyone has such a nice backyard, but they never use them even for the Fourth of July im the only one with a barbecue and fireworks. Growing up in the Bronx everyone hung outside all day where I am now even on a beautiful day ,It’s so quiet sometimes it gets depressing.
Becarefor if you see Batman 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I've not been . . . . . yet!
