    BEST 61 Key MIDI Keyboards // Budget 61 Key Keyboards Under $300
    In this video I share what I think are the best midi keyboard controllers for a budget. These are all 61 key keyboards under $300. If you're a new producer looking to upgrade to a full sized midi controller. These 61 key models are a great choice! Whether you're an ableton live, fl studio, pro tools, native instruments, bitwig, sonar, or studio one user - you're sure to find a keyboard that pairs well with your setup.
    Having a good midi controller keyboard is a crucial part of any home studio setup. I personally recommend at least 49 or 61 keys as anything less than that can be really limiting, especially if you've ever taken piano lessons.
    Please let me know if you have any comments or questions! If you’re looking for 49 key keyboards, check out my video: BEST 49 Key MIDI Keyboards // Budget 49 Key Keyboards Under $230

    Thank you for this rundown. May I ask Which would you pick between the m-audio oxygen pro 61 vs Arturia Keylab Essential 61 when it comes to the keybed? (feel and sensitivity) Thanks!

    • @jackthemurray

      I would personally pick the oxygen pro because I’m very used to the m audio waterfall style key beds. If I were to consider the Keylab, I would likely go for the full featured keylab and skip out on the keylab essential as Arturias cheap keyboards have never been my favorite. That’s just me though. Hope that helps!

    If you want to prioritize the keybed and key feel and response, what are number 1 to number 4 on this list? I was going to buy Nektar T6 since I’m a Pro Tools guy not Ableton, but I see some negative signals from users, some say keys are too heavy ie lower speed, some say quality control issues, some say Nektar support is low or they don’t keep updating the firmware, software (Nektarine), etc. I also don’t have any idea of how GXP61 feels and behaves for MIDI control in comparison to T6. If visual feedback of Nektarine makes up for not having display, and the keybed is good in GXP, then would combination of GXP and a generic knobs/faders like LaunchControl would be as good as having T6?

    Yooo i was just about to check your channel for a new video. I actually have a question about keyboards. I have this old casio 61 key keyboard. It plays fine but its sounds are terrible and it only has audio out and pedal in, no midi. Is there anyway to still use it with a daw? Like a live audio to midi plugin?

    • @jackthemurray
      @jackthemurray  2 роки тому +1

      Max! Great to hear from you man! Thanks for sticking with me despite my struggle to stay consistent! It means a lot!
      I don't know of any third party plugin that does this, but some DAWS have a built in AUDIO to MIDI feature. For example, in Ableton Live you could record an audio part on an audio track and then drag the clip to an empty MIDI track. When you do that a box will pop up asking you to convert to MIDI. This can be glitchy and isn't always spot on, but for simple MIDI parts it should help. I think the best long term solution would be to get some kind of USB MIDI controller. Even if it's a cheap old one. You should be able to find something online somewhere for even $20. Hope that helps, thanks again Max!

    i'm not a pianist. i'm a composer. but i tire of getting up going to my piano playing some ideas and then going back to my laptop. i want something i can listen to while at my workstation, and then use the same keyboard to enter into musescore or whatever DAW i have up and running. i don't need 1000s of voices, or auto drum rhythms, or auto chords. i just need something with speakers and that i can connect to my laptop. 88 keys not necessary. any recomms...?

    • @johnsuggs7828
      @johnsuggs7828 Рік тому

      These are controllers. controllers don't have or produce sound. Controllers merely play notes and allow you to do certain things as it pertains to manipulating those notes. Sounds like you want an actual workstation keyboard. Workstation keyboards have their own built in sounds/synth. Most come with some kind of sequencer and ability record directly into the unit. Some come with speakers, however most professional keyboard/workstations don't come with build in speakers. You have to connect them to some kind of audio system or you have to use headphones.

      I’m looking for a piano to:
      - practice jazz scales with (I’m a singer)
      - make instrumental music
      (using the drum pads to sample and produce music)
      - play live during performances
      - play in my studio (without a computer connection)
      - make beats (with computer connection)
      Ideally this would be a piano with built in speaker and midi capabilities. I am willing to buy a separate midi controller (I.e. 25 key) if needed but it must be compatible with the larger keyboard. No budget.
