A must have as a maintenance engineer, I’m always using mine!
Yes, a great multi-purpose tool!
I've actually owned one of those for about 4 months now and I must say that it is high quality. I had to replace my old Klein tester after it failed twice to warn me about live electrical. Things could have gotten real ugly.
That's the reason you don't use them to check if the circuit you're working on is isolated. For that purpose you better use a 2-pole voltage tester. The german five rules of safe working on electrical installations:
1. Isolate the circuit
2. Prevent that it becomes reenergized again.
3. Proof that the circuit is really dead
4. Ground and short-circuit active wires (only necessary on voltages above 1000V or on uninsulated overhead line wires).
5. cover up live parts next to your working area with insulating rubber mats. Not necessary in residentials because there you don't have such situations, this is mostly for transformer- or substations where live parts are sometimes exposed, like big uninsulated copper bars.
The NCV are nice for detecting broken wires in a cable, but I would not use them to proof if a circuit is really dead. You can see if the circuit is on, but it's too unreliable to test if the circuit is really dead. Especially not in an installation which contains photovoltaic, because these NCVs only response to AC voltage. In a PV system you got a voltage up to 690V DC.
This guy here is a good way, don't have a continuity test built in, but there's also a version available which got this feature built into it:
www.amazon.com/Electronic-Voltage-Klein-Tools-ET60/dp/B06WWFGHQZ/ref=sr_1_20?dchild=1&keywords=voltage+tester&qid=1601822839&sr=8-20
But in my opinion they're unhandily, because you require a third hand...the european voltage testers are better in that point because the electronics and the display are integrated into one of the probes...
Here is shown how it is done the right way by John Ward, electrician from the UK:

I love the way you, experience how we should use the dual range voltage tester ..
No idea what this video is about, but I hate to see someone’s hard work stepped on. Subbed. Hope this comment helps with engagement.

Hey Sparky. I'm new to the DIY home electrical work. I watched your video on adding an outlet reciprocal off of a switch light several times. I loved it. Your clear instructions and attention to detail are amazing. It gave me confidence and courage to tackle this task that has been on my list for 6 months. Thank you for taking the time to educate us. Well done!
Nice review Sparky. Klein has quite a selection NCVT models.
Thanks Gary! Yes, they sure do!

Great informational channel I must say! Thanks, just picked this up in a bonus pack electrical test kit.
Good choice!
Nice review Sparky. Thanks for all you do for us!
No problem, thanks!
Miss your shootout of the many different non contact voltage detectors. Hope you do another one or upload your old one.
This was my favorite tester until a week ago i dropped it. Now it tells me every circuit is off like a proper widow maker.
It's pretty awesome seeing redditors here keeping positive. Best wishes to you and your family Bill.

You’re welcome, thanks Peter! 😊
I would buy one just to troubleshoot strings of christmas lights.

thanks mine does not work out of the package. could not figure out how to turn on, it is broken good podcast
Awesome review, thanks for posting this!
My pleasure! Thanks!
The old one with the bar graph was way better for a professional. I’ve seen this one lie several times. I used the bar graph one for several years and never had an issue with false readings.
Tester pocket clip plastic broke on my previous Kline. so I chose the Southwire 40150N instead this time.
Thank you sir this is a great video hope to see more I read some of the comments I hope everything is OK thank you again sir you helped me out greatly!
Look at Khabibs comment to restore your channel
I'll check it out, thanks!
Just got one. Thanks for vid
Enjoy it!
Hello from reddit :) wish you all the best sparky
Welcome to Sparky Channel! Thanks so much! Best wishes to you as well! Cheers from San Diego.
I have 12 flashlights in my tool bag why not add another one?
LOL!
How do you raise the volume on on ncvt-2p Klein. Please
I’m getting a beeping blue light.. tried researching the reason but no success. Anyone know what this means?
Klein says on their website "When the battery is low, the unit powers on with a blinking red or blue light"
Hey man cool video! Hope you're doing well in these hard times, i'll turn the notifications on so I can watch all your vids, good luck.
Welcome to Sparky Channel! I'm doing great, thanks! Best wishes to you as well! Cheers from San Diego.
Good vid and good product as usual ... Thnx ...
Thanks Eddy, have a great Sunday!
have the same tester. i have an outlet that started beeping green .what does that mean
??
Nice video
Thanks so much!
Can't beat Fluke still
Hey, Fluke is great, there is no denying that. I'm very happy to own both!
Can you do a video explaining in detail how to wire a leviton portable electrical outlet box.
Perhaps, I'll check that out.
kinda prefer the old one, I could see the light bar while using the flashlight, this is kinda tough to see the led change color with the flashlight on
I’ve seen this one lie several times. I used the bar graph one for years and I could always tell if something was actually hot or if it was just bleed off. I actually just tried to order the bar graph one online and the website sent me one of these instead.
SALUDOS SPARKY FROM CLIFTON N.J.
Cheers from San Diego!
Thanks Bill!
No problem, thanks!
Very helpful
Thanks!
Thanks for the video. I just purchased this NCVT-3P from Amazon to replace a older clip Klein tester. Do you think the rubber O-Ring needs to be lubricated with O-Ring lube? Does anyone know, and what will work? I saw where Vaseline SHOULD NOT BE USED?
THANKS.
I always use silicone grease on o-rings. I hope this helps.
Thank you for the video
It was very helpful
Thanks!
Hope you get your content back Sparky!
Thanks so much!!!
@@SparkyChannel Hi Bill,
I just found out what happened back in January, and wanted to let you know I actually archived your channel in November 2019. I don't want to say any more than that in a comment, but if you think that would help fill out what you lost let me know.
@@highplainsdrifter475 That would be great! Please e-mail me at wpm44@yahoo.com Bill
Very nice but the battery 🔋 run low very fast
I don't know yet, I just got mine.

Thanks Josh! 👍
I have an old security system panel that has wires coming from a hole. I'm getting a flashing blue light on Mode 1 and no red light on Mode 2. Does that mean it is low voltage and can be tucked into the wall?
I just had the same issue with some wire going to a junction box in my attic. I turned the power off at the breaker and one of the wires is flashing a blue light. Did you find out what it meant?
@@DobraLLC For my situation, I found out that the security systems use such low voltage that there was basically 0 risk of danger. I cut the wires, tied them off with electrical tape, and put them in the wall. I am no where near an expert though so I advise you seek specific info for your situation. Good luck!
Yesterday I bought one and it fell from switch hight and it broke. The *buzz* and the *click* sounds are all static so it sounds terrible. I attempted to warranty but since I no longer had the receipt Klein told me to get lost.
Does this tester read voltage in the ground or the neutral pin of an outlet ?...
too sensitive to test for reverse circuit wiring !?
...or to read seperate curcuits in a fuse box panel. It reads voltage 1/2 " from the breaker's black/ hot wire...not specific curcuit ??
The Ideal brand tester will read the hot, neutral & ground in an outlet, seperate. Thus can test for open ground or reverse wired receptical??
Nice 🗣️ video😊
Thanks!
Nice... Looks handy.
Agreed!
Can you do a sparky 101?
That's a good idea, I'll think about that one.
Hello!
I used this when trying to replace a doorbell and identifying the hot wire was a nightmare. It just kept beeping on all wires in the box due to proximity! Is this not the right tool for such a job?
If it's too sensitive put it on mode 1, 70VAC to 1000VAC.
Hold up.... They make those type of things? Dammn
Yep! They sure do!
What do you mean "hot terminal"? Arent they both hot on AC signal?
On AC one terminal is hot and the other is the neutral. With DC one terminal is positive and the other is negative.
I was wondering about this one. Thank sparky for your sparky aApprove
Mis MX
No problem 👍
I recognize that voice.
LOL! It's me!
