My mommy friends and I organise a swap-night every now and then. Everyone brings the clothes their kids have outgrown, which can be used by someone else's kid. It's a good reminder to clean out the closets frequently and it gives us moms a nice moment to catch up and chat.
Natalie!! I finished decluttering the last area in our house yesterday... our basement!!! It feels amazing!! I'm doing some dropoffs today to charities, etc., and then everything will be GONE! Thank you for all the motivation over the last several months. Your videos are always a joy to watch and I look forward to what you'll post next! 🖤
Natalie, I enjoy your videos so much. You are very classy and practical. It is nice to see someone who doesn't get name brand expensive clothes for kids that they outgrow quickly.
I am no stranger to the neverending kid clothes shuffle! I have 7yr, 5yr, 3yr and 1yr olds and I'm due with my 3rd daughter in December! It seems like I'm always shifting clothes in my kids' dressers. I love these videos. My kids get very attached to old clothes too! 🖤
🖤 I watch a lot of your videos. Especially when I’m working through letting go of things that are cluttering up my life. You have helped me let go of so much. I feel so much better being able to enjoy the people in my house. And being able to walk through the room without tripping. I have 2 children. I definitely appreciate you!!!!
This was so satisfying to watch and totally motivating! I really need to get in to my boys dressers and go through their clothes… But I’ve been dreading it! Thank you for giving me the courage!!!! 🙌🏻
Seeing all these tiny clothes and hearing about your boys not wanting to let go of the Chewie PJs reminded me of my own childhood. I had a shirt and jacket which I really liked, and at one point, tried to play dress up with my favorite stuffed bear. To my surprise, they fit great! Although, the shirt looked more like a dress 🤣 I'm not sure if these were already outgrown items at that point, but they definitely stuck around long after I could wear them myself. The clothes are now long gone, but I still have that bear (and it's still my favorite 😉) - it's amazing to see that bear and think "I used to be that size! Literally! We shared clothes!"
Not a mom yet, but I love the "grow into" bin idea! Such a smart strategy to save money and have future clothes ahead of time. I'm making a note-to-self for my future self with this one!
I've done the no fold system for years it's the best way with kids and it takes away a step in my washing/drying clothes routine. Love the messy to minimal vids
🖤 binge watching your last few videos! I started clearing out my kids’ closets today. Busy sorting sizes to pass down to the next. Love the way you do closets!
Love a bit of thrifted kids clothing. I like to buy preloved bits as they get so little use before they grow out of them. Must try end of season sales.
I discovered you couple of weeks ago and love watching your episodes! I also keep a "Grow into" bin for my kiddos. What really changed the game for me and our closets was the "Time to go" bin! So whenever I realize something becomes too small or worn out it immediately goes in the "Time to go" bin. When this bin gets full I immediately donate or recycle. This way I manage to keep the closets decluttered for longer! 😉
I used to be able to just buy a size or 2 up then my son started growing too fast and at almost 10 is now in 18 and men's small. I miss being able to buy stuff cheap ahead of time.
🖤 ok I totally agree with you! I keep baskets in each of my kids’ closets with clothes for them to grow into. Each time I go into them, it’s so exciting to go “shopping” in them 😂.
I love the idea of grow-into bin. I’ve always had pass me downs or clothes we bring from india for a year ahead but always miss them as they don’t have a designated spot in the closet. I’m also new to your channel. I love all your thought and ideas on decluttering and minimizing our possessions.
Hi Natalie! This was the first video of yours that I watched, sent by Kendra, and I am HOOKED! I watched your entire Messy to Minimal series a few months ago and have recently gotten into your cleaning motivation videos. (Perfect for third trimester nesting.) Anyway, you come off as very kind and relatable, which I admire and makes me feel like we would be friends in real life. Your family is absolutely adorable and I just love watching! Thanks for making videos! -Jennifer
We love our grow into bins too! I keep them under their beds. We are given a bunch of clothes, I thrift, find sales, etc. Its such a great way to save money!
I love that you show the realistic and honest side of being a momma!! I have a grow into bin but I need to step up my clearance game! Thank you for showing us your hacks!
I LOVE your declutter videos they are great. My kids are in their 30s now but I always had grow into bins,It's great when you find things on sale.from your Australian freind.
Oh I did the shop end of season basics for next year for years for my kids too. Worked well till they were a out 10 then they wanted to pick so much more items. Such a memory trip for me now my kids are grown up. Must start the same for my grandson babies
🖤🖤🖤🖤 I love this Nat, such a great motivation for me today! I did this with you back in February in my bedroom and over the last couple weeks with my birthday happening...my room is a total mess again 😂 so this is exactly what I needed to kick my butt in gear and clean, love you bunches!
I am a HUGE fan of thrifting ( once upon a child) and shopping the clearance for my son. He is almost 5.5months only and I just transitioned him into 6-9month clothes. I definitely shop ahead to make it easier on myself.
I do the exact same thing with the grow into bin! It's always fun to look in the bin and see what I bought. My 3 yr old is set for fall/winter and has been for months. I get so impressed with my bargain hunting skills.😊
I have a grow out of box in my laundry room. That way when things are getting small they get taken out. My once a year purge of their closets is much smaller. I recently shopped at Once Upon A Child (a consignment store) and got clearance items for super cheap. I got most of my items for a buck or less.
I so wish I could use clearance and stock up, but I’m at the point where my boy will grow 2-3 sizes in a season, and I never know what size he will be and what season, I’m in Michigan so I shop spring/summer and fall/winter. So the best I can do is just shop sales.
Thanks for this! I’m needing to start the process of buying one season ahead so it’s SO helpful to hear your tips and tricks! I’m with you on the saving money and being frugal when possible, kids grow so quickly! 🖤
The grow into bin is a genius idea, I’m going to be doing that from now on - thank you! We have pretty much been doing a variation of it anyway with hand-me-downs & oversized gifted clothing but are kinda coming to the end of that stash (boys wear through their clothes so much). 💚
This was one of my favorite episodes. I love 3rd person Natalie 🤣. I've been watching your channel since I was pregnant with my little boy who was born 7/2017.
I have been finally taking this approach for Fall/winter with my 17 month old. I think he is mostly outfitted minus a few pieces for most of the cooler weather. I may need bigger clothes if the cold season lasts longer and he grows fast😆 anxious to grab some things for warmer weather, but a little nervous to guess his growth!
You should turn some of their favorite jammies into blankets! I've seen where you can take t-shirts, cut them up, and sew them into quilts or blankets. Then they can still "use" them but for longer.
Can't wait to actually get started on my little guys grow into bin, he's only 10mo so predicting what his size will be is hard right now. However, I'm pretty sure I will be spot on for the Christmas Burts Bees pajamas I got him in January on clearance for this upcoming Christmas! 🙌 🖤
🖤 When my kids were younger I always had a “grow into bin”. Now they are teenagers and the trends change too quickly. I wish we could go back to “cool” not being a thing 🤣
My daughter is the same as being tiny in the waist. Recently she grew a ton and went up 2 sizes. We also do the grow with me. We pick up stuff at Yard sales and clearance. So funny when your son wanted to save his jammies. I mean who doesn't love chewie!!
I do the same with my sons clothes. We are very simple. I create a bare bones wardrobe for the next size. Then if there is a seasonal gap like a coat or shorts or shoes we ask for them as gifts or they get thrifted when its time to switch sizes. I usually do the switch early so he gets more wear out them and also there is time to find and fill the gaps.
"Climate has no effect on growth in humans, but seasons do! Boys and girls grow more in the spring and summer than in the autumn and winter. In addition, children produce more growth hormone during the first hours of sleep than during the day." WEIRD, (I just Googled: "why do kids grow the most in the summer")... but seems to be true! MY eleven year old is going through a HUGE growth spurt it's been super noticeable. 🖤
My kids are 2 month old boy and 21 month old girl. We have clothing up to 4T stashed away for both of them lol. Between hand me downs, yard sales and clearance, I will buy a couple basics like plain shirts, pants, shorts or leggings, then pajamas or socks. Saves us so much money and that way when people ask what the kids need, I just tell them a size, whatever our kids are most comfortable wearing(my daughter hates dresses and prefers leggings and t shirts lol) and they can buy whatever they like in those parameters. Unfortunately my daughter has been very hard on her jammies and plain onesies and shirts so very little of hers is going to her brother lol. But the 3 boy cousins have gladly passed down a whole tote worth of clothing so he’ll be alright.
Loves this video. I have to children under 3 and hand me downs, thrift, sales are big for us to save money. I too have a bins for grow out and grow into. Thanks for the great content. 🖤
🖤 I’ve watched most of your decluttering videos. It’s giving me some inspiration to declutter my own home just need energy. Having a almost 6 year old boy, 22 month girl and 7 months pregnant this momma gets tired very fast. Also, tips on decluttering my own closet and getting rid of clothes. Thanks
Natalie, I love following along with your motherhood journey so much! Especially with the world we live in being such unsure times, it’s a nice way to escape and relax. Thank you for always being a classy lady, but not afraid to be real and honest. You’re a one of kind, keep up the great work! P.S. there was no notification squad emoji this time! 🙃
This is so inspiring 🖤 this video also reminds me of the time with smaller kids 😍 mine are teenagers now and they know exactly what clothingitems they like and don’t like 🤪
SO smart Natalie. The only thing that would make this better is if you had the store we have around here in MA. You can resell your kids clothes to them and buy more. It's like never spending money ever on clothes.
Just found your channel and love it! I have 2 1/2 year old twin boys and can relate to this closet declutter. I also always purchase stuff off season for them and it saves so much money!
The saddest "declutter" ever is when you and your twin grow up, choose to live in different places, are packing up, and suddenly realize your wardrobe will decrease by half.
I found your channel through Kendra, love your grow into bin! I do the same thing and buy things when they are marked down. My daughter has a large closet so I can store a lot of the future clothing. 💕
Yay!! Two of my favs collabing together! What a great set to watch while I declutter to prepare for a consignment sale tomorrow! I’m desperate for some things for my three. 9yo, 2.5yo, and nearly 6mo 🖤
I recently have given up on pj’s and now let my daughter wear clean clothes after her bath every night. Less laundry and keeps sheets cleaner longer. We had so many pj’s so we kept just a few. Boys’ clothes are sometimes not soft enough to sleep in.
Wait, so the clothes she's going to wear the next day she wears to bed the night before? Also, how do the sheets stay cleaner? This is thought provoking lol maybe genius lol
@@mamallamaandthelittles , She showers and puts freshly washed clothes on every night to get in a bed that has no pollen/household dust where she used to wear pj's a couple nights until they smelled sweaty or that daughter would throw a pair down the laundry chute every night =(. Also, hanging out in pj's for hours would mean she would often have more air born stuff on her clothes and her allergist talked about fresh clothes being really important especially during allergy season. Now I only have 7 shirts, shorts, 7 underwear a week and I only wash sheets every 2 weeks (pillow cases weekly) because she never climbs into bed with pj's that she may have swiffered the floor with (accidentally) and my family has a lot of allergies and we live in a dry and dusty climate in an old house with not dust-proof windows. This new plan started because my daughter has some OCD characteristics and was struggling to get dressed for school every morning. I was kind of joking, "Do I need to have you sleep in your clothes so we can make it to school on time?" and then thought, "Why not?" I had only had them sleep in their clothes when we were getting on a plane at 5:30 AM. 95% of my daughter's clothes are soft anyways like Pj's (the random days she wants to wear harder denim shorts, she sleeps in her underwear and we make sure she has a robe nearby as I did have a fire in the middle of the night as a child) and when she wears leggings and needs a skirt, she just adds the skirt in the morning. This would be harder for boys (I raised 2 older sons) with cargo shorts, but you could still wear a clean t-shirt to bed. However, I will say having raised teen boys, they can sweat all day and night during much of puberty and washing their sheets weekly is the only thing that takes the sweaty stench out of their room! I never minded washing more clothes as at least their room didn't smell then. I also have my daughter wash her feet if she takes her bath, then eats dinner and walks around the house and the floors are not ideal. So, she sticks her feet in the bathtub and swishes water around to at least get the soil off so it doesn't end up in her bed. In the winter when it is less dusty and really cold it is too hard on our skin to bath every night, so I wash sheets a little more often as I have her bathe every other night. Sorry, so long, but hope this is clear. Also, She has 3 pairs of Pj's that we kept for fun and some times I let her wear those to bed when I know we are not going anywhere the whole day under covid =) )
So fun collaborating with you sweet friend! And yay for some cleaning inspiration!
I love that we get to share double the Decluttering motivation today! You always do such a great job! Thanks for doing this collab with me!
I have twins too , I love hearing from other twin moms !

The grow into bin is amazing! I never thought about this. Such a simple but very brilliant idea!
"I'm gonna stretch them out" *desperately tries to make them fit* RELATABLE
😂 he's SO attached to his Chewbacca jammies!
The „grow into“ bin is genius! Definitely picking that idea up for my little boy.
Natalie from January had my back... 😄👏
🖤 I do the no fold system and grow into bins when I heard you talk about it about 2 years ago. Such a life saver.
I love the way you do the “grow into” bin! 🖤 and so awesome that you can pass on clothes to your nieces! 👍🏻

Maybe you could make a small blanket out of those beloved PJs?
Or a teddy bear ❤️
You could make a small pillow with the top, I did that with a kindergarten t shirt that had all their signatures on it. Still have it, he's 21.🥰
I’ve watched you since the boys we’re still in the womb!! Thank you for being such a constant for me here on UA-cam ❤️ your family is precious!!!
I don't even have kids and I watch this😂
Same hahaha
Same here 😊😊
Same
My kids are grown and left home I never did the grow into bin 🙈 wish I had done it ! kids clothing costs a fortune!
Same here!!!!!
This was so satisfying to watch and totally motivating! I really need to get in to my boys dressers and go through their clothes… But I’ve been dreading it! Thank you for giving me the courage!!!! 🙌🏻

I have consistently shopped the clearance sections for clothing (we have 5 kids) n love "shopping" from our stash!🖤

I always try and buy ahead as well! I also love the store “Once Upon A Child”. 🖤
Love Once Upon a Child and Kid to Kid especially when they do their "fill a bag" events
So obsessed with this series! 🖤
These are so cute!! I love the collaboration! What a neat way to grow your channels and meet new friends...especially with this crazy lockdown year!
You should turn some of their favorite jammies into blankets! I've seen where you can take t-shirts, cut them up, and sew them into quilts or blankets. Then they can still "use" them but for longer.

Can’t wait to go do some decluttering of my own🖤🖤🖤🖤 Love all your tips in this decluttering series!
🖤 starting on the minimalist spirit 😊
🖤 can’t wait to do this to my closet and my sisters
I recently have given up on pj’s and now let my daughter wear clean clothes after her bath every night.
Less laundry and keeps sheets cleaner longer.
We had so many pj’s so we kept just a few.
Boys’ clothes are sometimes not soft enough to sleep in.
That's what Hailey does a lot! The boys are just attached to them sentimentally!
Wait, so the clothes she's going to wear the next day she wears to bed the night before? Also, how do the sheets stay cleaner? This is thought provoking lol maybe genius lol
My son slept in my old tee shirts .like nighties.
My boys love to sleep in athletic shorts, or boxers over their undies.
