Chris and Bec from Salt and Charcoal have begun renovating their Toyota Coaster Bus with the intent of living in it for the next five years. With dreams of exploring every corner of Australia, they knew that tackling the high temperatures would be a challenge. That's where the Truma Saphir Underbunk Air Conditioner stepped in. Given the limited space on their bus's roof, Chris and Bec made a smart choice by opting for an underbunk air conditioner. They cleverly installed it underneath their beds cabinetry, making the most of every inch of available space.
During the installation process, Chris allocated ample space for ducting and ventilation, ensuring optimal airflow and efficient cooling throughout their mobile home. With the help of the included template they ensured precise hole cutting and secure installation after carefully identifying what was underneath the bus.
Efficiency is at the core of the Truma Saphir, and Chris and Bec can attest to its remarkable energy-saving capabilities. Thanks to their Victron electrical system, they can power not only the underbunk Air Conditioner but also their other essential household appliances while off-grid. With its efficient heating and cooling functions, they can enjoy a refreshing night's sleep for up to 6 hours, until their power system's battery is depleted.
When it comes to installing your underbunk air conditioner, it's crucial to seek assistance from a registered electrician. They will ensure the proper installation of a manual isolating switch and electrical switches, guaranteeing safety and optimal functionality.

hey guys. just about to fit one of these to our off road van and I have some questions (if you have the time)...
is there, or did you fit, any kind of dust filter underneath the vehicle? All I can see is 4 holes that will let bulldust in. If not into the vehicle, at the very least into the air con unit itself.

Hi guys, Chris installed a dust filter material in between the floor and unit to stop any dust from getting into their vehicle! :)

Does this use alot of power? I have a generator and a 400ah lithium battery system.

Hi there, The Saphir has a current draw of 4.2A (Cooling) and 3.7 A (Heating). A generator or 400Ah of lithium battery power will be very sufficient in running this air conditioner! Check out which generators are suitable on this page: www.caravanrvcamping.com.au/product/truma-saphir-comfort-air-conditioner Thanks :)

Any idea if you can use the same ducting for the D6 heating as you can for the aircon ducting and just split it using a Y Piece?

Airflow to the unit it super important, so as long as it is well ventilated. Although a vent does make it tidy and comes with the Truma Saphir. Thanks :)

We have a caravan and it was already fitted under the bed but with no air vent … opened the outside locker and noticed the floor was damp …. Is it because no air vent or anything else?

@@luciocancellara4995 It could possibly be the cause of dampness. I'd suggest giving our team a call on 1800 787 278 for further advice. Thanks :)
