The last story- Mama, you definitely are NOT the asshole! You had just carried a baby for 9 months (or however long yours was) & if you’re working full time & he’s staying home then HE should be doing the cooking & cleaning- or at least half the time. There is absolutely NO reason why he couldn’t/shouldn’t pitch in other than the fact that it just doesn’t seem like he wants to work or help with the household chores. A stay a home parent can be a never ending job, but when you came home from work, he could have taken that time to cook dinner while you spent time with the baby for a little while & then either you or both of you could clean up the dishes/kitchen.
It sounds like he was unwilling to negotiate though, so there really wasn’t much choice for you. He set it up without you & just expected you to follow it even though you had just gotten off work.. The only choices you had were at the expense of your happiness, sanity or at the cost of your quality time with the baby. BOTH of you should have helped with the chart & SHARED the home chores. Making a chart without at least consulting you just tells me that he didn’t care if you were happy with it or not, otherwise he could have waited for you to help with it or to at least make negotiations. NOBODY should settle & any decent partner wouldn’t ask or make you, either.
You did what you had to do.. all you can do now, and should have to do, is take care of YOURSELF & the baby! They’re only small for so long so you have to take any chance you can get to spend time with them.
Other people may not agree with my views on it but I see no reason why it shouldn’t be fair in all aspects.
