    I’m with you here. I love these. I have 3 in a community tank and just got 3 pairs in a 80 litre. I was going to move the other 3 I have, all female, but they are super settled. Hopefully I can get them to breed. Proper little characters. I moved their favourite plant as it wasn’t thriving and they stared at me for days 😂😂😂😂😂. Omg mine also when I first introduced them stared down an angel. She was like yeah so you can eat me, the angel backed off 😂

    Damn...that's a sweet looking fish. I'm gonna have to get a couple of "Peacock Gudgeons" when I begin stocking my tank with fish.

    How many do you recommend for a 20 gallon? And is there supposed to be a specific sex ratio? Or would the best option in a 20 gallon be to just have one on its own?

      @fishfk8773 great question. For a 20 gallon I'd probably more so look for a male and female. Even if you had two males it wouldn't be to bad they would probably just claim their own territories and co-exist. But with a male and female they would more so likely pair off and explore the tank together. If it's a planted aquarium you could probably get away with more of them. Three females to one male would be a decent set up. Maybe even two males two female. The fish isn't exactly a fighter and if anything it would more likely be a show of force rather than an attack. I hope this helps! Appreciate you checking out my video!

      @lakesregionaquariums2887 Thank you for answering! I just don't want them breeding. Also want a peaceful set up. And having both sexes almost certainly means they will try at some point right? I guess they don't like being the only member of their species in the tank then. Only one female to one male won't cause the male to harass the only female? It would be a planted aquarium with driftwood and maybe rocks. It's a 20 gallon high, maybe not the best option as longs seem to be best for them? Maybe not the right fish for me at this moment but definitely someday! Thanks again for answering and sorry for all the questions!

      @@fishfk8773 I personally keep only a single male in my tank and he has no issues with anything. They like to explore on their lonesome and he seems perfectly content alone. He's been alone for about 4 years now and he thrives. If you did try a pair of male and female and if you do have other fish in the tank, may it be a tetra or a barb or danio the chances of their eggs let alone fry surviving in that environment are incredibly low. Basically culling any type of spawn in darker words. I encourage you to at least try one out for now as they can absolutely be a solo fish and if you do choose to do so please let me know how it goes! I do admire you for pulling the brakes and considering if this fish is ready for your tank. Many aquarium folk do not take the time to put thought into that. In your case, However, I think the fish would do just fine in the tank you have described!

      @@lakesregionaquariums2887 Oh I didn't know he was on his own! That's great news. Wouldn't they get aggressive guarding their eggs though? Want to avoid as much aggression as possible. On the topic of tank mates, do you think they'd be compatible with the emerald eye rasbora? It's the smallest of the fish I'm considering putting in the same tank and I've heard they might hunt little fish. Awww thank you so much for your super kind words! I've definitely been guilty of impulse buys or at the very beginning, getting fish without really knowing what I was doing. If you truly want success and care about their lives you learn to be patient, selective and considerate. Will send an update if it ends up happening, thank you!

      @fishfk8773 Very inspiring words Coming from you, im starting to think you should start fish vids of your own! Impulse buys make the hobby very fun and I have been guilty of them as well. It throws us into a path of learning. With the fish you worry about compatibility I think the peacock gungeon would be okay. Usually if fish become defensive for whatever reason they will nip at whoever is causing the problem until the attacking fish realizes it's probably best not to do whatever they are doing to get attacked. If that means getting to close to eggs or a territory they will soon understand it's a no go zone. These peacocks are not built for hunting and actively hunting down other fish so I have faith they would be just fine in your tank once respect and a pecking order is met amongst then. But always remember each and every fish is different and all have incredibly different personalities. A massive part of the hobby is the chance and risk you take with every single one. But that being said it offers many unique learning experiences for all of us to find out along our journey through the hobby🙂

    Would you recommend a small group of these with Sparkling Gouramies in a 20 gal heavily planted tank?

    • @lakesregionaquariums2887
      @lakesregionaquariums2887  9 місяців тому +1

      I think it would work out, their may be a little bit of bickering at first but in a densely planted tank, you should be good, once territories are established i think they will get along just fine!😁 thanks for checking out the video!

    One of the fish I'm looking at for my 20gal community tank. Only issue, would they go after shrimp?

    • @lakesregionaquariums2887
      @lakesregionaquariums2887  9 місяців тому

      Thats a really good question, and I appreciate you bringing that up. I wish I had mentioned this in the video. I DO think it would go after shrimp its behavior seems like it would but if you have a super density of plants in the tank creating many hiding spots for shrimp I think you would see minimal casualties. But when the gudgeon hits its max size it could probably do some more severe damage if it gets ahold of one
