If the videos keep coming this will be one of the next big MTB yt channels. Calling it now. Good thumbnails, gimbal, good audio and can keep attention with not only riding but conversations. Love it
Love the work both of you do. Loam Ranger I’m in the same boat as you in wanting to move out there, Toronto here cold, flat, boring. As a father of two young children, 9 yr old daughter, 7 yr old son where is a good place to raise them. Can either of you recommend a place or top 3 list for families. We all ride and ski. Also Van Can more importantly as a man in his 40s I can honestly say work life balance over salary every time man. Do not move for a job unless you absolutely have too. My wife is a cancer survivor, so we’ve seen the light. Life’s about living and of course work to live don’t live to work you really don’t need Gucci everything. Cheers guys and thanks.
where I live in Australia, your winter seems ridiculously cold, our winters are around 20 - 30 Celsius (68 - 86) and our 9 month long summers are unbearably hot and humid, winter is our riding season, barely anyone rides in summer, that's crazy!
I love your video's. The trails there look so amazing. Just booked our plane tickets for our first time riding on the North Shore, Squamish and Whistler. I'm so looking forward to it. Keep them awesome video's coming. Can't wait till august to ride those sweet looking trails myself.
Pretty lucky here too. 1500 miles south of you in Flagstaff. We get a lot of snow, but drive 40 mins south, and you're in Sedona. Hard to beat that for winter riding! ;) Added bonus, it rarely gets over 80 Freedom Units in Flag all summer. We don't have those amazing BC trails tho..
Yeah riding year round is amazing! The trail looks just as good as it did in summer (the video that made me subscribe to you!!). Wish I could ride year round, alas my bike is with my parents while I study at university. I survive the winter season through UA-cam videos like yours haha. Keep it up!
Winnipeger here and I can tell you, winter is cold af as you said Windchill up to -45C°. Last year I only rode from May to Sept. If all goes well, I could move to Kelowna this fall. More trails around = more fun.
Oh hey, I was born in Winnipeg and spent the first 4 years of my life there :) You don't need to tell me it's going to be cold there in January haha. Also I have quite a bit of nostalgia about the winters in Winterpeg but possibly just because I was too young to know any better.
I feel you, I moved from Calgary around 10 years ago and can't imagine going back. I'm also a skier so I like the proximity to Whistler for that... the best thing is that if the skiing sucks then the mountain biking is amazing, I can pursue one of my passions all 52 weekends of the year within a 1-2 hour drive on some of the best mtb trails or ski terrain/snow in the world. re: Job - the longer you stay in Vancouver and build a network the better it becomes. My first job kind of sucked and was massively underpaid for 3 years but I am in a lot better position now. Still sucks how expensive it is to live here but the way I look at it is my friends in Calgary and other places might have nice houses in the city, but they spend 6-8 months of the year wishing/waiting for beach vacations to escape winter. I like to travel but am perfectly happy to spend all year in coastal BC.
I was there that day Man i was waiting for you at parking but i got tired waiting so i went home coz i got my buddy has appointment at afternoon one of my friend saw you and you gave him sticker i was jealous lol catch you next time
Love how you just roll that one boulder TTF you featured in one of your previous videos. Curious, why did you cut the Gangler (awesome triple roll TTF on Seventh) from the vid?
Lovely weather eh! I was also there last Saturday, too bad I didn’t had a chance to meet you. I rode in the morning side..awesome vid 👍🏼 hope to ride with you in the North Shore someday 😬
I've been able to ride the Front Range of Colorado almost every week this winter. Sure...not trails this good, but better than nothing. When does the snow consistently stop there? I wouldn't mind a long weekend up there. I was thinking April would be good enough to ride Fromme.
I've only been here for a year, but if I remember correctly things were definitely clear by April. I mean you can pretty much ride Fromme right now haha.
Weather is a big motivator for me to move too. Growing up in central AB the riding is pretty limited even in the summer, and the 6+ month winters are just too long. I’m in the last semester of my undergrad so just gotta wait till May to make the move. What do you do for work?
I didn't use it for this one, just the Hero 7 audio. But when I do use it I have it stuck to my chest mount with one of their sticky mounts and I use the furry wind cover they have.
I see you're using the hero 5 with a windscreen. I'm on the Hero 4 for the audio. Are you using an external mic to get that great audio while you ride and talk? Great vids!!!
@@VanCan Any windscreen or tips for the audio on it? I know the "more mics" thing is why I use the 4. Wondering if my gimbal set up would work with the 7 and the audio has been fixed. Basically, how is the audio so clear on this for the 7?
I just found your Ch. This is some of the best footage I've seen using a GoPro. Was this the 5 or 7 and what windscreen are you using? I'm looking for one for the Hero 7.
Newb question!!!! How do you get your breaks to stop that awful squeak at the beginning of the video. Please someone help me. Mine are driving me crazy!!
Well I can only speak to the graduate engineering program, but I like it. The research being done here is very strong and there's a lot of opportunity. The undergrads here seem to have a pretty easy time finding work and we have companies like Tesla coming here to recruit. I have heard BCIT is a great school, so I guess it really depends on what you want to do. If you're motivated you'll do well at BCIT, SFU, or UBC.
Different strokes for different folks. I'd rather watch someone ride as fast as they can and not talk than hear endless nonsensical chatter more of the time. Depends on the person/trails though for sure.
No way! You’re from Kenora!!! I have a cottage about 15 mins from there and I got some trails all along the property! If you’re ever there in the summer shoot me a dm on instagram @reidh13 (not to plug my insta)... sick video btw!
‘Freedom units” lmfao! I’ve never heard that before, absolutely brilliant. 🤣🤣.....

Thanks for the kind words!
4 years later -good prediction! 649 numbers for next week?
The footage on this looked *so* good! I was mesmerized dude. Also, we’ve gotta make that move as well. Snow for 6 months isn’t really my jam...
Thanks! Once you experience a mild winter there’s no going back!

Wow that place is stunning! Savage conditions when trails like that also have snow and ice!
Ya it’s great!

Perfect trail and the sun in trees looks amazing!!
It was so nice out!
Amazing footage man, the narration is always on point too

Classy move with the shout out to NSMBA! And damn this trail looks fun, gotta get off the island and visit the shore again...been too long.

I would like a bit of the cold, South FL could get a bit too hot. It’s like the two extremes.
Ya too hot is bad too!

Ya it’s so cold in Winnipeg. Going back home for 2 weeks was enough winter for me ha

It’s amazing! I mean this was the one nice day during months of raining, but still, better than snow.
@@VanCan Were we are we only see about a day of snow. which I would love to ride in as never done it but we get lots of rain lol
Wheezy and the Bandit MTB- i agree mate off up in the peaks on Sunday weather permitting of course
Me too! Now I ride snowboard and can't wait spring to ride my two wheel bro! Peace from Ukraine! =)
Your camera setup is so lovely and one day i want come to vancouver. in turkey there is like no trails maybe 2 3
Time for a vacation!
İ want to live here! But need to sell everything here and learn a lot more english as well
😁
That light though... Nice video and thats a sick trail!!
Ya it was so nice!
We got great weather here in LA, but the riding is nothing like BC that's for sure. Had no idea you could ride year-round in Vancouver. Rad!
Yup! But it does rain a lot.
Ha I moved from Winnipeg to New Zealand to get away from the cold. A chilly 26 today :-)

Ya I'll be in Vancouver for at least another 2 to 5 years. So maybe in that time I'll find a way to make living here work.

I live in Edmonton. I miss living in BC. Winter in Alberta is so long.
That’s why I moved away from Winnipeg ha
Winnipeg...flying there today. So pack the Long Johns is what you're saying...awesome

Love how you just roll that one boulder TTF you featured in one of your previous videos. Curious, why did you cut the Gangler (awesome triple roll TTF on Seventh) from the vid?
It was a bit slippery up there and I was riding alone, so I decided to play it safe. I'll be back to ride it soon though!
Haha, I must've just missed you out there yesterday! I went for a ride earlier in the morning.
It was packed!
Wow, one of the best looking POV gopro videos I've seen. Mind sharing your gopro settings?

Moving to a warmer climate was so nice. I'm in graduate school in the engineering department at Simon Fraser University.
10 degrees above seems tropical to me right now as it's -15 here right now in Winnipeg :(
I was near Winnipeg when it was dipping around -27, no thanks.
Hi, didyou use instamic for this video, ? If yes , where did you put it on you ? Did you use a windshield on it ? Thanks
I didn't use it for this one, just the Hero 7 audio. But when I do use it I have it stuck to my chest mount with one of their sticky mounts and I use the furry wind cover they have.
Gotta follow the weather. Then you always get new trails, and good weather :)
If only it were that easy!
@@VanCan Right? Not everyone can be so lucky.
I see you're using the hero 5 with a windscreen. I'm on the Hero 4 for the audio. Are you using an external mic to get that great audio while you ride and talk? Great vids!!!

Nice trail bro.
in San Diego 50 degrees would be too cold to ride. All relative apparently

Thanks!
I just found your Ch. This is some of the best footage I've seen using a GoPro. Was this the 5 or 7 and what windscreen are you using? I'm looking for one for the Hero 7.
This is the hero 7 in the karma grip with a wind slayer pulled over it.
Right one! Which wind slayer is it. Do you have an affiliate link? The link you have posted says it's only for a 3 or 4. @@VanCan
Ya that’s the one I use. I just cut a hole in it haha
I love this awesome trail thx for the video

Move to California and come ride with us all winter!!!
That might happen one day! A lot of work for me in Palo Alto.
I wish....3 kids in college are gonna keep me in Chicago til I'm old and dusty.
Nice gloves you got there ; ) Also great riding!
Haha, they're pretty great!
Nice track! It seems slippery
Only in a few spots !
Wish I had a bike like that they are awesome
They are!
Yeah I'm 11 I'm gonna try to save my money for one it will take a while
mahalo my dude! love the IFHT gloves.
Ya they’re pretty cool!
@@VanCan Should get myself a pair, i'm sad i just missed out on the limited stickers.
The shipping is pretty expensive to denmark though.
Newb question!!!! How do you get your breaks to stop that awful squeak at the beginning of the video. Please someone help me. Mine are driving me crazy!!
Well in my case I needed them to warm up. When they get wet and cold they squeak.
@@VanCan wowaa that's it! Just warm them up and everything is good to go! Thanks man!!!
Amazing stuff!
I would love to move from Southern Ontario to Vancouver but it's so pricey!
Ya it’s not cheap!
It would almost be perfect if it wasn't for its unaffordability 😪
Ya it's not cheap here!
I live in Coachella valley and can ride year round in a T shirt 😋
We can ride all year, just sometimes it’s in a parka.
Was gonna ride Fromme yesterday, lot was full so decided to give Seymour a shot. Could of got a sticker
Could have!
Man I would love to move there! Could never afford it though lol
Ya, that's why I think I'll end up having to move in a couple years. So expensive here!
Bet the ground was frozen solid like concrete in parts!
At the top a little bit, but not bad!
I know this is Fromme, but which trail is it? Edit, nvm, mentioned 5 minutes into the video and I didn't even recognize that this was Expresso :D
Haha yup. 7th secret and the. Expresso.
@@VanCan did you further proceed to Lower Expresso?
Where do I go to find that trail.
7th Secret, Mount Fromme, North Vancouver, Canada!
Are you running the 7 with no gimbal here?
No I have it in the karma grip
