I shot/directed/edited this vid. on an old hi 8 for about 800 quid with Douglas Hart (mary chain)....the mic. was broken on the cam so any lip sync. was by eye...great tune,great vid...Carl x
Respect to you sir. I remember when this video came on Def II on BBC2 out of nowhere...I scrambled quick to find a VHS tape and pressed play and record...it got much repeated viewing for years after. Still one of my favourite tracks of all time and the 'lo-fi' video suits it perfectly. RIP Alkaline.

this to me was our equivelent to todays east london 'grime' scene....except a million times better.they never had no major recold label support,no major radio/mtv airplay or watered down r&b screaming teeny bopper fans....not to mention the internet....it was all underground,word of mouth hardcore.....i met alkerline a couple of times as well @ my mates old digs in walthemstow about 5-6 yrs ago....proper safe geezer!
@@matthewgale5045 Yeah I'm well knowledgeable with the whole graff thing too although don't bomb as much nowadays but still get up from time to time and always feel the desire to knock up an occasional trackside dub. That never quite leaves you along with your handstyle. I've been out in recent times truth sticker bombin though which is not too dissimilar to graff. Just another form of 'getting up' and getting a message out there and the same mindset with scoping out good spots that get attention and attract passers by vision.

@@matthewgale5045 Yeah I used skate (board) up the South Bank long before it became 'official' and a protected landmark. I lived for skating in my mid to late teens and indulged in graff too and hip hop. I helped do a large write up and flashback to the late 80's/early 90's and included the Rave and Acid House explosion too in supporting their SOS (Save Our Skatepark) campaign a few years back and they ended up winning. They were originally gonna move it all down the river and build more crappy trendy bars,Maccy Dees and Nando's etc Good times though. I'm an old skool Raver too. Still dip into a Raindance or old skool dance festival from time to time but not sure what's happening right now with the whole jib jab passport bollocks. Apparently I've read 8/10 venues and clubs aren't gonna go along with it but whatever happens there will be some sort of resistance to all of this and I'd say there's a very good chance it'll spark off alot more underground Raves and parties once again which might not be such a bad thing. It'll be very interesting to see what could happen. Maybe it's the (no pun intended) the injection of life that the dance/rave scene needs once again. They (the media) are clearly trying to create a division and 2 tier society which I know isn't going to go down well with many whether they've taken the jabs or not. They will not divide us. ✌❤✊✊✊

Looking forward to the new stuff K-Sly and Supreme have coming out soon! Put this island back on the hip hop map instead of some of this wack Benny Banks type shit polluting the airwaves with their wannabe gangster lyrics when they would shit themselves if they ever saw a gun!!
@@wandererkenshin7557 the UK back then was churning out some absolute classics and the skills some of the lads were showing was as good if not better than anything the yanks could produce. Westwood, max and Dave Jeff young shows were awash with glorious sounds with an English twang. Not as awesome now unfortunately but there maybe one or two MCs out there but none have the calibre of what we produced almost on a daily basis,

Also playing right now in my flat I've got The Criminal Minds blazing out, the lyricism and scratching on their stuff is immense. Wish it was as strong now as it was then!
