- This week I'm at Emsworthy Mire on Dartmoor for the first time. Famous for its bluebells in the spring, Emsworthy Mire nature reserve has much to offer the photographer at any time of the year.

Hi Simon. Thanks for your video this week. I like to see that not all the shots you show are always to your liking and the self critique is very helpful and relatable. I've also been out in the dull conditions recently and have taken some very uninspiring photos but learnt a few things along the way at least.
Thank you. I try to keep the videos as real as possible. The photos are not always great.
My favourite place on Dartmoor and well worth a visit to see the bluebell truly stunning and you maybe lucky enough to hear or see a cuckoo Wonderful pics.
I've not seen the bluebells yet, but will this year.
@@simonlawphotography you will not be disappointed the enclosures around the barn are full of them Last year I got some lovely (well for me they are ) shots of ponies grazing in the bluebells Emsworthy never fails to impress what ever time of the year you go weather its the bluebell redstarts cuckoo wheatear ring ouzel redwing there is always a photo op I have just found your channel today and have subscribed we are so lucky to have Dartmoor on our doorstep Look forward to seeing your new videos❤
I think 90% of the UK population would call you and I boring, Simon. I'm with you when it comes to enjoyment of solitude. TIP: I carry at least two mirrorless camera bodies each fitted with a different lens. A further handy, but tiny, manual lens helps with macro subjects I spot on the walks.
Boring 😂 they don't know what they're missing. Thank you for the tips. I've definitely thought of getting a lens just for macro.
@@simonlawphotography I use the Laowa 65mm Macro which is small and light. Similar clarity to the Sony 90mm f2.8 @ £900, but 2x magnification and only £400 - these are new prices, so check used with mpb or others first. Hope that puts you in the right starting direction, regards H
@@simonlawphotography I use Sony E (aps-c) & FE (FF) as the choice is so good for lens manufacturers, but most systems have options.
Thats on my list for next year at a certain time 😉
Yes, I'll be going back now I've scouted the place.
I have wanted to visit Dartmoor since I first read "The Hound of the Baskervilles". Never have got to visit the UK at all yet though.
Dartmoor is full of character, moody open moorland and magical woodlands and rivers. Well worth a visit if you are ever in the UK.
'Promosm' 😇
