I vividly remember the first time I heard this ..OMG it was like liquid silk..The complexity of the vocal arrangement is just incredible..I love it & he looks amazing
I was heartbroken when the first version of "Right", edited and supremely directed by Nacho was removed by you know who. It was sublime! The historical value of Mr. Bowie in the studio during the recording of "Right" is something that should be seen by everyone if for no other reason than we have so little of his in-studio work recorded on video for posterity. What I came out with from this video and the earlier Nacho video was that he was in charge of what he wanted but was smart enough to know what his collaborators wanted to contribute, which you can see in his interactions with Mr. Vandross. Mr. Bowie called this his "Plastic Soul" period but when you see this video you can see he was enthralled by what was happening in urban R&B and early, pre-European disco and finding how he could contribute to that sound. He was truly a unique performer in this regard! Thank You for listening, Brian Bulkley
Same here - was v depressed when this video vanished. The video is eerily good. Really gives you a flavour of the recording of the album. Gives you a sense of the genius that was Bowie. Brilliant!
Toward the end of this video, Bowie is listening to the final recording, and then hears his vision of the song to its upmost summit and gently claps. What a feeling, so lucky we get to see it after all these years.
Unbelievable piece of work. It’s Bowie at his finest. It’s just something you don’t think he could pull off. It showed me the complexed diversity of his musical chops. It was a bit funky. A bit soul. A bit gospel. With touches of experimentation and innovation. It’s a much better piece of music than it gets credit for from his total catalog. At the time it was done as a matter of fact I’d of just passed it over. About two years ago I gave it a good listen and said how could I not know this song better. It was just so far ahead of those times that now it’s just fantastic work. It’s a real testament to his greatness.
Spent AGES searching for this work of art!! And now it's back. THANK YOU!!! I discovered him early '72 when I was 11. Followed him every step through the dark wood of his musical dreams through the '70's. His music mapped my youth. An artist of genuine greatness.
Yes. And watching Vandross running through the arrangements with Bowie with Bowie nodding. Shows the kind of respect he always had for the musicians and vocalists he worked with. So much talent on this album.
God sits at the right hand of Nacho, this is top class, still can't believe I've finally seen John I'm only dancing with the sound and vision, excuse the pun, corrected, but this one for Right is fantastic.
Thank goodness someone filmed this. So wish they filmed plays in the theater, Bowie in the Elephant Man was great. I saw it four times, same seat, 2nd row stage right.
Thank you Nacho ☺️ If this song was from Young Americans, Bowie commented that he didn't like that album. I think that this live taping was great and the song is a very good song. I am glad that you gave it a very sympathetic edit. This song deserved it.
If I remember correctly Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff at the time were asked to produce the “ Young Americans “ album but were unable to for some reason… years later I am sure Kenny Gamble described the album as a masterpiece.
An extraordinary vocal experience and arrangement.. Especially with Luther Vandross, Roberta Flack and Jewel on background vocals Beyond even Bowie's Brilliance ❤👨🎤🎸

Anybody got the footage of Bowie with his Steelphon 1970's synthesiser? (there was some up online at ua-cam.com/video/IB4Ka6caMY0/v-deo.html but since been removed / account no longer there)

ALL of the singing in this is just sublime. The Sanborn sax was a nice touch as well.
This and Win are my 2 favorite tracks off Young Americans.
Look for the version that Bowie talks them through it
@Lewis Maddox Same! You're the first person I've come across that also has these two as first favorites :)
@@brido8 Please, have you got that version? Could u share it? Thank in advance...
@@brido8 that is a video I once had until either BBC or Bowie estate pulled…. Was so amazing .
