    Absolutely fed up with the bricky trade, the worst trade for continuity if you want to be working all year round and want to work through recessions.
    Good work though brother, you are a fantastic bricky

    Finally someone says it, use the heel.
    Personally I prefer the Dinger for just that reason, much easier to use than the pressed steel tools.
    I see experienced trowels still using the tips, it looks awful

    I've always done bed joint,cross joint and a quick strike across the bed joint again leaves less snots.I've converted many over 40 years.🤣

    Sponging brings out the Efflorescence in the brick. Also always lift the line up when jointing. You are very good for efficiency and numbers. But not the nearest by a long shot.

    Get yourself off home to your family Charlie. Forget the money it only spends. Time....the most precious commodity

      Couldn't agree more mate, some things in life are deffo more important than money. Nothing wrong with being a grafter but greed is no good.

    • @martin2466
      @martin2466 17 днів тому +1

      I do generally agree with the point about time v money.
      However, you only gain wisdom, knowledge and experience with age. You will never hear a young person ruminating on time being a precious commodity.
      I can only speak of my own experience. Retired now but always a grafter with nearly half a century in the Industry. I worked hard, put the time in, took financial risks with my business and reaped the rewards of that. (and lost a few along the way as well)
      My light bulb moment came one year when I was working 7 day weeks, and was home one day pricing up work and doing my paperwork when my Wife said to me, "that I was physically present - but not really here," and realising also that my children, who were then teenagers, and I had missed so much of their growing up.
      However, the success of my work has enabled us to live a fabulous lifestyle in retirement - with all the trimmings and advantages that wealth brings.
      So, I shall stand by the adage, "make it while you can".
      Who knows what Mr Collisons plans are for his future? Maybe he is planning to leave the industry early - so he is "making hay while the sun shines."
      Whatever you do in your working life - be happy

      @martin2466 I get what your saying but if we look at "greed" throughout history, nothing good ever came of it. Nice to work hard and earn good money i do it most days myself. But in the holidays Christmas etc.. time with family or even time to yourself should always be priority. Unless your broke in which case it wouldn't be greed 😅

    I thought you used a barrel!! Why do we insist on perps first? I've never done the bed first, might give it a go! I'm laying the concrete bricks at the moment, jointing up after 1 o'clock is a bollock ache

    • @richardstetson8221
      @richardstetson8221 18 днів тому +3

      The reason why we are all taught perps then beds is because the bed is a continuous joint you don't want to do the bed joint then go through it when you do the perps and it's supposed to be faster since you don't have to be careful when your doing the perps and you can run down the bed in one shot

    Same only videos again and again, it’s bricklaying! It’s not open heart surgery. Have time with your family over Christmas instead of making money and vids.

      @Danielbaz898 Are you a bricklayer Daniel?
      Any bricklayer will tell you that you spend half the winter with the wife and kids, only you are skint.
      You work when it's not raining or snowing.
