This a very beautiful and melodieous song. I wonder why only few comments . If somebody can give the English meaning very much better. The way song presented in the movie is very attractive . What can we say about the melody composed by Shankar Jaikishan . Salute to them.
Why you need English language
It is very difficult to translate this mellifluous song into Western language. You can do translation of words but not poetry. Just listen to old Hindi film songs regularly, you will get the meaning over time. The most beautiful part in this song is excellence all round lyrics, music for the background, talent of composers and directors voice of singers, action by actors each one is a class in itself. If you change one at that point of time you would have disaster instead of a great romance. My Hindi is not that great to do justice. Still I would have watched many times to enjoy the song. I can add only one line that most Hindustani/ Urdu poetry and songs have tinge of melancholia which is totally absent in this song. That is the talent of Shankar Jaikishan combo. The song is actually picturized on as a celebration song
