      Wow, googling "acre brazil" does show "acre brazil joke" as one of the top results, you weren't kidding.
      Actually, I was gonna ask how you even get in to Acre, but Rio Branco is a pretty dang legitimate city, damn. Over 400k, that doesn't feel mythical any more haha.

      It's something like 4100 km to Canada and 4200 km to the southernmost point

    Qeshm Island:

    5:42 why do people still refer to the native/indigenous people of North and South America as "Indians"?

    • @katherinegilks3880
      @katherinegilks3880 Рік тому +4

      Ignorance. They’re not Indians - they live half a world away from India. Also, the incredulity that the people of Rapa Nui could have made the statues. It’s one thing to be impressed by the statues. They’re meant to be impressive. But to be surprised that they could be made? The technology and materials existed at the time; as for the art, it is verging on racism to assume that the people of Rapa Nui couldn’t be such skilled artists.

    The Aru Islands big claim to fame in the story of evolution is that Alfred Russel Wallace came up with the theory of evolution by natural selection during his stay there, independently of Darwin.
    Acre was originally part of Bolivia and seceded in 1899-1903 with three Republics of Acre in five years until Brazil annexed it.

    so going only by the information you've provided about the Aru islands, the 100 000 inhabitants must all be descendants of Dutch and Japanese settlers? Also not really an obscure location to those 100 000 people that live there. I kinda feel like you were looking on a map and saw a group of jungly-looking islands you didn't know about, pulled a couple facts from Wikipedia. But if you really found it fascinating wouldn't you delve a little bit deeper than the history of European contact?

    En tant que français, j'ai été choqué quand je t'ai entendu dire que l'île de pâques faisait partie de la polynésie car pour moi, ce ne peut être que l'archipel de Tahiti qui mérite ce nom, puis mon cerveau a rebooté, et en effet, l'île de pâques forme une des pointes du triangle polynésien, qui comprend donc l'île de pâques à l'est, la nouzelle-zélande 7000km à l'ouest, et biensur Hawai 7000km au Nord, soit une superficie de 28 millions de km², l'archipel de polynésie française étant entre les deux premiers, il me reste à visiter Hawai, j'aime particulièrement la vibration de ces endroits de la planète.

    Though you show various areas as: km^2, the correct way to READ that is "square kilometers" and not "kilometers squared". There is a difference.
    A SQUARE that has sides of length 10 km can be referred to as 10 kilometers squared. So since it is a square, and you measure one side, you can then say it is 10 kilometers (on the measured side) and then it is SQUARED!
    However, its AREA is 100 SQUARE kilometers!

Since your videos are watched by people from all over the world, I recommend you use the metric system to refer to measures of things. If you still want to use de "feet" of some old english king as a measure, then do it, but also include the same measure in metric.
