I had my second last summer and felt everything you mentioned. It's totally normal! You're doing a great job by letting yourself feel those emotions and verbalizing them. It's the only way through! So excited for you to enter this next chapter as a family of 4!
My first is a 2020 baby and baby#2 arrived in Feb this year. I was similar to you in that I was really strict with nap times with #1. This baby is much more flexible and I follow his cues instead of the clock. It’s helped me a lot and I feel like I can actually go out and do things. I also don’t stress as much if we miss a nap or have to interrupt a nap. When my first was this age I felt trapped at home and like I was a slave to his eating/nap schedule. My first loves loves loves little sibling and is so sweet with the baby. I actually really like their age gap… my first is in full time daycare and will start Kindergarten (we’re in Ontario) in September so I still get a ton of 1-on-1 with baby. I’m sure Arkie will be a great big brother ❤
I had the exact same issue you did with my second pregnancy and we probably had a a very similar due date. Our girl came last Tuesday and I can’t believe she is finally here. There was such a sense of impending doom especially until I was able to feel her better in the third trimester. I also had an anterior placenta which didn’t help. Social media was so triggering too. I feel so sad that I didn’t enjoy this pregnancy like I did my first. Thank you for speaking out about your anxiety struggles, it helps us feel like we are not alone.
You can actually take up to 18 months parental leave in Canada! The pay you get is the same, you can just choose to spread it over 12 months or 18 months. It’s awesome 😊
So excited and happy for you and this new chapter ! You just look so radiant and happy! Bittersweet moment because I know you’ll be on mat leave and I’ll miss your content 🥲
Your feelings are completely normal, I felt the same things going from 1 to two kids. However our little girl is so excited to have an older brother(although he does not always treat her well, the age gap is a little too close here...). So do not feel bad for your little girl, she will love Arkie and having an order sibling !
I got 4 months for my maternity leave in New York. but I had to stop working 6 weeks before I gave birth due to preeclampsia and that was 6 weeks unpaid.
You look so great Alex! A glowing pregnant lady! Wishing you well for when baby decides to arrive and when your family grows 💗

Depending on your job you get 6 weeks. Some people get more. But there’s no govt help unless you apply for it. And you can be denied.
