To help prevent levelling mistakes I fix one of the end brackets first. Then I put the curtain rod through and support the other end holding the other end bracket. This other end is held with one hand and the other hand holds a level, I raiise or lower the support until level and then mark the drill hole.
Thank you so much for this. my years of having a fear of hanging curtain rods is now over. Hung 3 rods last night following these instructions. Wife very happy now!!
Important if you want a precise gap between the bottom of the curtain and the floor: in this video, they do not adjust for the fact that they are using keyhole brackets to mount the pole. They have drilled holes 5-10mm higher to allow for the bracket to slip down after it is mounted.
Really nice video - just one note 😅 "our window is 740 millimeters wide" @ 2:50, that's likely 74 inches, @ 2:58 the middle mark is not at "370 millimeters" but at 37 inches 👀
@@snippetsordinarylife Please re-read what I wrote, I'm not assuming anything. The measuring tape @ 2:58 reads 37 inches, not 370 millimiters. Thus the whole thing is 74 inches, not 740 millimiters. Even without the measuring tape shot it's straightforward to work out, because 740 millimiters is 260 millimiters less than one meter and that window looks obviously wider than that.
Thank you! All of the other vids I watched skipped the step of showing how to use the level to ensure that the pole is straight. I'm off to hang my lovely new curtain rods now. ; )
Can you do a video on how to install ceiling curtain track and b&q? Tried to find help on how to do it from the shop with no luck. I have bought some bricks for the tracks but not sure how to use them on the ceiling
Hello really appreciate the video, I've tried putting up a curtain pole above my window but after drilling into the wall an inch or 2 I hit something very hard and can't seem to drill past it.. could you please help with any advice? Thank you
Hi, Jake! High five for making the first step to doing it yourself 🙌 Ultimately, this would come down to what kind of drill you're using when drilling into concrete walls. We have another video that gives more tips for drilling into concrete walls. You can find it here: bit.ly/3l2rIv9. We hope this helps 😊
Thanks! I was wondering how to get drapes with grommet holes over the huge glass finials at both ends of the rods. The photos on the site doesn't show the "grub screws". And now I know...thanks again!
Woow...Thanks very much ..! I hav got some idea. but your tutorial is a good guide. Well which one is tat driller u using ? wireless one ? is it strong enough to drill concrete ? ( Bosche ?)
Hi there, a MAC ALLISTER MHD18-2Li 18V Hammer drill has been used in this video. You will find our range of detectors here bit.ly/48jurXZ. I hope this helps! 😊
Wow. Is there anywhere in can find how to put up a pole without drilling? My walks are to hard and crumbly to drill into. Also I am worried abiut putting up a board to drill the poll into as all glues seem to he rubbish. They always fall off.
What if you move in and the existing curtain pole breaks and then you find the pole that should have extension inside is missing where can I get a new inside extension pole part without buying a while new pole?
The man in the video didn't seem to know either. You will notice when inserting the plug for the centre bracket he put in a grey (smaller diameter) plug, when the video cut to show him driving the screw in, the grey plug had miraculously turned into a brown plug. Very sloppy

Cool video, but the use of a measuring tape to install the bracket is too time consuming, and might occasionally lead to mistakes. One can benefit from a preset-holes marking tool, like an RPC (Rody Precision Corner) that can speed things up, and make the installation process much easier. The RPC also has bubble levels built into it, so one does not need to carry an extra level tool around.

Was just about to do the same. Thanks for confirming it will work.
If you have a large window though, central bracket first makes sense. Unless you carry a 2.5m spirit level around
Thank you. Thankfully I have my partner to help with this process so it will make levelling easier.
@@oKOMAPothe spirit level doesn't need to be the length of the pole, as long as the pole is straight and not bowing

Brilliant, good job! 💪 We love to hear feedback like this, glad you found our video helpful 😁
Your instructions are the BEST that I have seen. Thanks Man.
Thanks for this put up mine now
Great video. Detailed but at the same time straight to the point.
Glad you liked it 😊
This video was very helpful. I just put up my curtain pole and curtain using this video. Thanks!
I've realised a few mistakes I've made over the years. I'm currently fixing my loose curtain poles and came across this. Thank you for this.
Thanks for the help. I did everything you said and my windows look amazing now. Thanks B&Q.

This is a very helpful video and just what I needed to hang my drapes. Thanks for your time and effort in producing this!
Thanks. This made a daunting prospect feel achievable.
You're welcome 😄
Thank you! Need to do this and a bit nervous about it. But this video steps out what i need to do very clearly!
Thanks guys! I went through the discovery with you as I watched your video.
You guys made this look so easy. Thank you for simple instructions.
best curtain video. i was able to put my curtain rod up relatively easy. thanks!
Thank you guys you've made it so much clearer for me. Thanks once again

Thanks for your feedback, we'll let the team know!
Why do you assume it has to be in inches? They come from a country using metres, cm and mm, like the majority of the civilized world lol

Excellent! finally a good video about this procedure.
You make it sound like surgery lol
Watching this fr India 8 years after the published date. Thanks for such detailed tutorial.

Excellent video. Answered all the questions I had in my head :-)
We can all do it now! Thanks to B+Q 👍

From England.
Thank you for this it's massively helpful!
Thank you! Glad it helped 😊
Thanks alot B&Q
Our pleasure 🙌 Glad you enjoyed the video!
I am serious I love you people
Very informative. Its years since I hung anything on walls, it was a very old property and had no plasterboard.
This was very clear and concise, thank you!

I concur. This video was great. Nice work!
Excellent video. Very thorough instructions. Thanks!
This was so helpful
We're so happy you found it helpful! 😊🧡
Lovely explanation thank you guys
You're welcome! 😊
Did the second fixing on each support require raw plug? Looked like the screw was drilled straight in with no plug
Whatever it looks like they did, you DO need to put plugs in on every bracket otherwise It won’t support the weight of the curtains
yes that was the only part that confused me too
Thanks my English brother, love from Canada , I dident have safety specs but I think I can do it
Thanks.great video,now i know what to do
Awesome, thanks
wow thanks so much! this is a very detailed tutorial!
Really helpful video! Thank you
Thanks for your guide. .
Excellent video. Learned a lot. Thank you.
Thank you. Quite helpful. I will put up my curtains now!

But, why have them over the radiator?
In the winter months there'll be scrunched up on the windowsill, not nice at all
I have a roller blind as well as the curtains. Summer = curtains. Winter = roller blind.
5:48 mindblown. Learned something new
Thanks! I was wondering how to get drapes with grommet holes over the huge glass finials at both ends of the rods.

Very helpful suggestions. Need professional window dresser to put mine up. Not physically able to do so.
Glad it was helpful! 😊
Do you know of any professional window dresser?
Fab thanks

I feel your pain
Woow...Thanks very much ..! I hav got some idea. but your tutorial is a good guide.
Well which one is tat driller u using ? wireless one ? is it strong enough to drill concrete ? ( Bosche ?)
Thanks for the helpful video, I honestly didn't know people had this accent, its like taking psychedelic drugs
what drill
did they use ?
Hi Amanda, a MAC ALLISTER MHD18-2Li 18V Hammer drill has been used in this video. I hope this helps! 😊
does anyone wanna come to my house and put my curtains up for me?!
I'll give it a rip
If only mine could I've got a problem caused by previous tenants it's unfair
What type of drill would do the job for this?
Hi there, any drill would do. If the drill has a hammer setting, this will make it easier. I hope this helps!
Nice job! Good drapery tutorials are hard to find.
Thank you
Does anyone know what type of the drill it is, combi or drill? What is the name of the detector for pipework in the wall?
Ask at a local DIY store 😊

Does anyone know the name of the wooden piece that's sits above the window? It's used to attach curtain hooks etc?
Hi, there. This is called a pelmet board, hope that helps!
What if you move in and the existing curtain pole breaks and then you find the pole that should have extension inside is missing where can I get a new inside extension pole part without buying a while new pole?
Fuck this. I'll just get my dad to do it.
What if there is kno space at the end for the wall bracket..then what?
What mm (diameter) drill bit did u use?
Very good
What size drill bit please and is a hammer setting necessary ?
The man in the video didn't seem to know either. You will notice when inserting the plug for the centre bracket he put in a grey (smaller diameter) plug, when the video cut to show him driving the screw in, the grey plug had miraculously turned into a brown plug. Very sloppy

Thank you so much for the video, so helpfullll ::)
I'll take standard weights and measures any day. Nice folks though. Helpful vid.

thanks! really helpful...
Thank yaaa
What if there are pipes, where will you drill?
I have just been googling curtain pole as I got a new pair of curtains. Utube, you scare me!
Here's your American translation. ''Muuurggh Durrrr durrr. Durrrr Nnnghhhh. Errgghh. Murrrrrr y'all''
Just watching this noble video fully restores my once eroded faith in the concept that one refers to as humanity
Super
Great video but builders need to stop putting radiators by windows🙄
We're so happy you liked the video! 😊
I like how she says curtain.
Do you have employees that will come out & do it for me ? (at a price - Obvs).

my speed is 30 muint on 6 curtains pitting every tape of curtain no problem
Excellent instructions and advice, until he advised tucking them into the radiator when closed 🙈 I'm all for energy saving, but really? 😆
7:45 more heat in the room
So cute. There should be an American translation. ;)
Sounds pretty complicated 😕
Give it a go 💪 We'll be here if you need any assistance 😄
Sorry, I didn't understand.
So helpful thanks guys
You're welcome 😊
Good video! Thanks
