Always enjoy your videos. While I like to think I can fix many things, I know my limits and I have generally tried to support mobile RV Techs in any area where I had problems.
Two things I can say for the Lance camper studio is there is no wind noise (which a lot of videos have also you can hear your words clearly with no problems.
My Norcold model # 1200LRIM RV refrigerator. The freezer compartments get to proper freezer temperature but the refrigerator section is not getting cold. Is there an easy fix to fix the food compartment of the refrigerator ? Randy Eldridge
Great channel, you have really helped me better understand my used 5th Wheel. If you have time for your next Q&A. I have a Lippert Rack and Pin style slide. When extending the slide it makes a loud clicking sound for the last few seconds when extending. Sounds like gears slipping. The slide seems to extend fully. I took the cover off the motor and there are no missing teeth. Thoughts?
Hi Darren Speaking of water heaters would you have a video on replacing a gas control valve on a 6 gallon Atwood water heater? Thanks I am new to this site and don't think I saw one.
Question: Can a regular electrician that works on homes do Rvs as well or is there a difference? We have a great electrician just wondering should I get one that specializes in Rvs or does it not matter?
I'm not getting 12 volts to one of my thermostats. Had the heater serviced last year and the guy who did it said they don't do wiring. But he had to jump 12 volts to it to get it to work. My front AC unit is linked to that Tstat. So I only have AC in the back part of the RV. AND the furnace for the front as well. I'm assuming I'll need to run another 12 volt line to it. But it's probably a connection somewhere. No fuses blown ... ???
I am a 74 year old preventive maintenance type of guy that was going to DIY upgrade my 30' trailer with new items 4 months ago to prevent road breakdowns. Always healthy but now have high blood pressure .. dizzy//balance problem. I hired a $110/hour mobile RV Tech .. I will discuss the events ...Trailer is on 30amp service and city water .. He replaced the old atwood 6 gal water heater with a new atwood .. He came in the garage and said .. Atwood finished .. I handed him the water hose and said let's check it out ... He said I do not do water systems. I went to close the aluminum door on the atwood .. it would not close .. he said I didn't bend the edge enough to clear the door but i think if you work with it .. you can get it to work. >>>>> He started replacing the new $270 electric jack and came and got me again to send new jack back since it doesn't work. It is a one hot wire to battery and the jack is the ground .. he had wired the hot wire to one of the bolts on the jack and it had no power ...... 3rd item I had 2 full 40 lb propane tanks ready. He installed regulator and 3 rubber hoses to tanks to trailer propane line and started loading his tools. I asked if he was going to do any leak checks ... again .. He said I don't specialize in propane systems and that is something you can do ... He made 2 trips in 2 days and spent his time loading and unloading tools, talking on the phone and backtracking to get tools he left somewhere else. He charged me for 8 hours and 2 $60 service calls ....$1000 in labor .. all the parts were available. I paid him ... What do you do when you run into a price goucher like this ???
Hi Jack, although I don't know that there is a tried-and-tested method, other than looking at reviews and word of mouth, one suggestion I would have in the future is to find out if the tech charges a "shop hour" rate. This is similar to what you get at a mechanic shop; they have a manual that identifies jobs and sets a time for how long it takes to complete. The downside is that the tech may get the job done faster and still charge you the shop rate. However, the benefit in this case is that if it takes the tech longer (or if they spend extra time doing other things), the charge will reflect the industry standard for the amount it times to complete the job. And, since the time listed in Spader is the industry standard, if the tech gets done sooner, it just means he's done his work and got really good at it! And who knows, maybe he'll only charge the amount of actual time and reduce your price! Since I just do scheduling and admin/media for My RV Works, I don't have much to offer other than this, but this is my suggestion. Best to you. -Tricia, My RV Works
I topped off my MH will gas last fall, and added fuel stabilizer. I think I need to siphon the gas out before it goes bad, There seems to be something in the gas fill tube preventing me from inserting a 1/4" plastic tube down into the tank. Any suggestions? 2007 Tiffin Allegro with 75 gallon fuel tank.
I know this does not pertain to the questions asked in this q and a. But could you cover how do de scaling your tankless water heater. I just purchased a Suburban Nautilus tankless water heater and not sure what exactly i am going to have to do.

Darren has plans on making a video on that topic. He said everything can be determined if you know the amp draw of the compressor and ambient temperature. We have manuals on our website for many air conditioners and there is even more info there: myrvworks.com/manuals/ We also offer a Remote RV Tech Service where Darren can work with you 1:1 to help diagnose your air conditioner. No, that is a Lance truck camper we picked up for cheap. Was going to be a project for when things slowed down but business has only gotten busier so it is just sitting there. We decided to put me in there and make it a recording studio of sorts. Our 'Home' RV is a Holiday Rambler Next Level toy hauler 5th wheel. I basically gutted the entire galley and installed residential appliances which makes it nice to full-time in. Garage was converted into two bedrooms for the kids - also gutted the bathroom and installed a larger tub, sink area and installed a washer dryer which it was not pre-plumbed for. Our 'Office' is our first RV we bought in 2007 - a 2000 NuWa Hitchhiker 5th wheel. I gutted the bedroom area recently and made that my office, my wife has the salon area with all the windows in the back and we home school the kids so they each have a desk area in the main slide out. It needed work - which is why I became an RV tech in the first place since it was neglected from us full-timing in it for years with out any maintenance whatsoever. It makes a great office and keeps us totally mobile if we need to move - we just have to make a few trips eh'. Cheers, Darren
Hey Brother, They sat me down to record about 13 of these episodes over two recording sessions so you are going to be seeing a lot more of me in that seat and that loose trim! I think I even mention it in one of the clips, not sure how the editing will go if they keep my comment in or not - I am not involved in that process... But yea, it bothers me too... I want to get out of the Lance truck camper recording studio and out into the beautiful surrounding area so hope to record more of these in different state parks etc. Should be fun for all. Also, just bought a DJI drone to take some cool shots too and add them to the videos. Not sure when those will come out though. The media team is editing about 5 feature videos as well as the balance of the 13 10-minute series. I have them pretty busy eh'. Hope y'all are doing well over in Wild Wonderful West Virginia! Cheers, Darren
@@MyRVWorks I thought that was probably the case. So far they looked like the same day to me. The view out the window gives it away. Just busting you balls about the trim. Keep up the good work.
my water heater ac element stopped working. after trying everything it turned out that the manufacturer used a quick disconnect plug and it became disconnected. in the end all I had to do is reconnect the plug .
