I find it fascinating how paper explodes like that. I guess it's because it's incompressible, but maybe just flexible enough to store potential energy from compression and then release it all at once when the fibers all separate at once.

It's a special tempered drinking glass not normal glass. Popular in catering because when dropped on the floor it won't break. It comes in different sizes.
There's another video in this series, where a similar glass (in blue, and upside down) basically breaks immediately.

Place some blocks of ballistic gel around the inside of the shield and crush some different things and see what kinda damage the shrapnel would do coming off each thing. Im sure alot of things would have deadly force
