    You're getting good at using the grapple, looks like a great back saver too.

    I like the grapple but wish they designed it for the bottom to do the clamping upwards. Having to curl the top down and picking up high get hairy on unleveled ground.

    Nice job with that grapple.. those grapples take a lot of trial and error to figure out and you did a great job. They are no where near close as easy to operate as a hydraulic grapple but once you get the hang of it I think it’ll work well

    I don't suppose you happen to look at the point where the pins attach the bottom of the brush Crusher to the loader feet. Mine easily comes up off a good 6-8 inches.

    • @billburkhart
      @billburkhart  3 роки тому

      Hi Brad, I did look at that connection point on my tractor and I cannot figure out why yours is doing that. All the welds are holding? No loader damage? what part of the country are you in?

    I think if I needed a grapple everyday I’d pay more for something like the Artillian. However, I don’t need one often and this thing looks like it will get the job done. Thanks for the firewood demo, that’s the main reason I want one.

      Happy Saturday ST. I was over on Blackjack Road last week moving brush and it worked very well. My friend cut the firewood into small firewood size lengths not knowing how the grapple worked so we lost some efficiently there. The only other issue I had was loading the brush into a trailer. When the loader is raised high the lower jaw remains horizontal and doesn't allow the brush to fall. We fixed that by using a rake to hold the brush while I backed up. I hope to have that video out soon. If money wasn't an issue, and I had a dealer that wanted to install a third function feature, I may have purchased and Artillian. But this is half the price and does everything I want to do so far. Thanks for staying in touch. - Bill

    Bill, I sure appreciate your demonstrations on this. For the price it seems like a very useful implement. There are certainly more versatile grapples, some for more than twice the price though. Everything has a learning curve. This seems like a no maintenance tool that is easy on, and easy off. I’m looking for something that can handle green hemlock or spruce. I just can’t put those through my Wallenstein chipper successfully. I’ll stay tuned for more. Thank your production team for me.

      Bob Johnson I have a Wallenstein 5” power feed chipper . I found that spruce and hemlock can be trouble when they are fresh green . I let them dry for couple weeks then chip them thru so much easier . If I have too do green stuff right away I have too watch how much I’m putting in at a time . The spruce needles will really block up the wheels .

    Great job Bill, well explained and demonstrated. I've broken my air filter strap 4 times now. So much so that John deere stopped replacing it. They told me I need to upgrade my air box to the new style. So I told them sure, if your gonna pay for it... go ahead! But nope, they want me to buy it. Now call me what you want, but I think that if it's an obvious design flaw by Deere, shouldn't Deere be picking up the tab to correct it? The guy told me that if it breaks something on the motor I'll be sorry. Lol, I told him, if it breaks something on the motor and you guys don't honor the warranty and fix it, you'll be hearing from my lawyers! Deere is still currently not offering the kit as a recall. The straps are poorly manufactured. The metal rings on all of mine were not molded in the center of the rubber end, making them weak and tear easy. Also, just a tip, make sure the (three I think) nuts on top of the valve cover are nice and tight. I guess those coming loose is what causes the engine failure. Because the rattling and vibration breaks the aluminum valve cover and all the pieces will fall down into the motor. Mine were loose only after the first 10 hours or so of buying my tractor. I tightened them down and put blue loc-tite on them and they have never come loose again in the last 3 years.

    • @billburkhart
      @billburkhart  5 років тому

      Well said Grant! As a PR strategy why is wouldn't Deere recall them. These tractors are so very popular right now.
      I agree with your comments, and wish you good luck. Thanks for writing. - Bill

      @@billburkhart, well that comment may have been pre-mature. Another guy further down in the comments here says that Deere is indeed offering free replacements. Now, that was just last November that "my dealership" told me I had to buy it. So I guess I'll be going over there and having a talk with them again. If they still say I have to buy it, I'll call Deere directly. Thanks Bill.
