Club swinging 104 | Lesson 15/15: Full double Indian clubs routine
Вставка
- Опубліковано 5 лют 2025
- When you have completed our Indian club courses, and mastered all the exercises, try to learn this flowing routine, and perform it to a beat or metronome.
We developed this Indian clubs routine in 2014, and refined it over 2 years, by teaching it to many people in our town.
Heroic Sport actually started off as a sporting social club, where we taught classes with Indian clubs each week.
---
Here's the challenge...
If you think the routine is too simple to perform, try calling out each move aloud at the same time as if you were teaching a group, just like Thierry demonstrates it, and stay relaxed at the same time.
---
Pahlavandle™ Indian clubs are perfect to explore movement patterns in all 3 planes of motion, as they look non threatening, and safe to use by young and old..
The Pahlavandle™ simply screw onto plastic bottles. In this video, Thierry is using 1 liter bottles filled with water. With a set of handles and a few bottles, you can make a whole range of Indian clubs from 200g to 3kg per club!
---
Indian clubs swinging a discipline for everyone, as it is possible to perform very simple or very complex movements.
The pace of the swings is relaxed, providing gentle traction on the joints and fascia, which makes you feel and move better.
As you master the swings, you will experience mindful motion and the state of flow.
---
Think of circles as letter of the alphabet. Combining circles into flowing moves allows you to express your creative side and experience similar benefits to Tai Chi, with the benefit of strength training.
---
What can Indian clubs do for you?
Watch this: • Why use Indian clubs? ...
❂ Physical benefits
Gently mobilizes the shoulders, elbows and wrists and improve range of motion
Strengthens the shoulder girdle and grip ( muscles and connective tissues) in its full range of motion
Consists of compound movements in multiple planes
Provides low impact cardiovascular exercise
Assists recovery from intense training
Improves the 3 pillars of physical literacy (body control , locomotion and object control)
❂ Mental benefits
It is fun and you forget you are training.
The rhythmic and repetitive patterns are highly meditative and calm the nervous system, like meditation.
Cross crawl exercises and other challenging moves improve learning capacity and stimulate neurogenesis, the creation of new brain cells.
❂ Heroic Sport| An ancient discipline
We have created the Pahlavandle ™ range to make it affordable for everyone to discover the benefits of swinging clubs.
Our clubs are easily adjustable, which is a modern twist on the ancient traditional Indian clubs used to train Tamil and Persian warriors and wrestlers.
Indian clubs were used in Europe and USA for remedial gymnastics in the 18th and 19th century, by pioneers of physiotherapy.
Супер. Сохраню и научусь также. Спасибо за урок

great videos 1000 thanks, keep them coming YJ
That is a satisfyingly patient practice and your execution entertained me tremendously. Thanks.
You're welcome, kind words are appreciated. It is just as satisfying to swing clubs as to watch, the rhythmic repetitive patterns provide a trance like effect. Regards from Denmark!
@@HeroicSport you are highly regarded. I'll be testing it out soon over here in this U.S.
Mr Thierry you are truly smooth. I have never seen a clubbell routine that flowed so smoothly. I recently purchased a set of the pahlavandles and hope to get a bum shoulder back into shape. I just found out about Heroic Sport. Thank you for yours and Ron's work
We appreciate the kind words, and wish you a speedy recovery!
I learned about clubs from my jiu jitsu instructor. I’m a woodworker so my first thought was, “I could make those.” So I did... and I still do! I make 2 & 5 lb clubs out of solid maple and walnut. Anyway this video has been an eye opener and breakthrough in my club swinging. Absolutely awesome!
Thank you Josh, we hope you enjoy the rest of the series, and find more inspiration in our "coffee break" playlist!
You make it so simple. Awesome!!!!
Thank you Kannan, much appreciated! Regards from Denmark.
This is mesmerizing and a great incentive, beautiful to watch, the challenge now is for me to replicate it.
Have fun with it, and split the routine in smaller chunks as there is a lot to remember!
Soooooo much coordination!
Indeed! And actually one of the most challenging aspects was teaching this routine to other people where I had to talk them through it. By the time we filmed this video, I had practiced teaching it once a week for over 3 years. I am still amazed that I managed to do it in one take!!!
Wau, and wau, thats so smooth and beautiful, I'm deeply impressed 👍🏼😊
thank you! keep at it, you can also learn this

Wow really interesting and perfect to get a rhythmic sense of these instruments
Thanks Dan, yes Indian clubs allow us to develop many aspects of physical literacy, including rhythm.
Welp, another routine to learn. Going to have to write that one down and study it while moving to master it.
Thanks Thierry!
Break it down in smaller bites, I'll see if I can find the written sequence for you.
@@HeroicSport Already planning it that way. I'll start with the steps up to the first inner heart shaped swing and once those are solid, I'll move to the next one. Thanks again Thierry!
Smith and effortless I'd knock myself out if I tried a routine like this one lol
ha, that's why we developed the pahlavandle! It's pretty hard to knock yourself out with a plastic water bottle :-) Good training!
Wow! Just wow!
I have 63 years old and train clubbels and mace exercises... but use two mason hammers and a sledge hammer.
You are incredible my friend!
Thanks for this video.
Regards from Argentina.
Gracias amigo! Glad you liked the moves, check out www.heroicsport.com we have some free online course now and then!
Amazing!
Thank you, glad you liked it!
This will take me some time to learn
But it’ll keep me occupied
Thanks
Fantastic! I need to time stamp this.
be our guest!
I'm mesmerized Sir...I think it's time for me to get your Pahvlavandle 😊 I'm practicing with a pair of table legs 😄 I need to investigate on your website, thanks for sharing your art and passion 🙏💜
You're very kind! If you use GEN9 you'll get 10% off a set of Pahlavandle. Truly a versatile club!
@@HeroicSport thanks for info, you are very kind 🤗
@@chiara.75 We try to help the people tat support us!
@@HeroicSport ...and my two pairs of pahlavandle are traveling to Italy 🤩🤩🤩
@@chiara.75 Correct! Ron is putting the label on the boxes!
truly brilliant
thank you so much!
Superb
Thank you!
Yes
That was 3:27 sec of pure awesomeness.
Glad you enjoyed the show! Actually the hardest part of the routine (after many months of practice) is calling the moves while doing them, and staying calm :-) happy swinging!
Poetry in motion.
Thank you!
Good
Thanks
Отлично, много познавательного.
Spasiba!
Hola Enzo! Sorry to hear about your injury... A bottle with sand is about 2kg. Make sure it is not too heavy to start again after the injury.
As long as you practice in a relaxed tempo, anywhere from 10-20 minutes a day is reasonable. That's about 30-40 repetitions per minute for heart shaped swings.
Do 5-10 different movements each time you train to avoid putting too much strain on 1 spot.
All the best!
I could never get my arms behind my back like that
❤️ tq
Beautiful I like it.
thanks you!
Lovely routine. But doesn't the water slosh around in the bottle? ... and cause uneven torque when the water hits the ends?
Thanks.
Not if filled to the brim. Not that the sloshing is bad. Also, if the swings are smooth, the water is pushed towards the end of the bottle.
Che figata!
Grazie mille!
Gorgeous. I would love to get certified some day. Do you ever do seminars in the US? Any upcoming on-line classes?
Thank you! We only do online certifications at the moment, and it's based on the more ancient techniques with a single club... But you can definitely learn a lot online about the british style of double light clubs through the many videos we have on our website, from 101 to 105 series here: heroicsport.com/product-category/indian-clubs-education/
Code: PCA-25 for 25% off :-)
Thierry, great demo. Thank you. What is the weight of the clubs you are using here?
Thanks David, they're one liter bottles, so 1kg each.
Where do get these clubs ? N How much do they weigh?
Hi, try emailing Ron at canadansker@gmail.com to order Pahlavandles.
The weight is depending on the filler. For example: 1 liter water = 1 kg, 1 liter sand = 1,5 kg
All the best!
Looks very fine... easy to use and adapt to....
.... but, how many homes has a ceiling-height - high enough to accomodate this, with especially the larger attachments(bottles).
TOR
You could always train outdoor! With people in over 50 countries swinging the Pahlavandle, we have not heard ceiling height being an objection yet... There are many exercises, not all of them involve having a straight arm fully overhead. Unless you live in a cellar???
@@HeroicSport ceiling height definately an issue in my current and last house (typical
@@owieprone That's pretty low indeed... Well, you could always do this swing ua-cam.com/video/dqs0CiOZIFQ/v-deo.html
The feder might prove popular with kids, but not with parents indeed!
What are your clubs made from??
check out the Pahlavandle on our website, it will all make sense ;-) links in video description
Where can I earn a certification in Indian club instruction? I am from Pennsylvania, USA. Thanks
Hi there! We have been offering an online certification for over 2 years. Level 1 is single club, and we’ll have the level 2 with 2 clubs available at the end of the year. Check out our website www.heroicsport.com
@@HeroicSport thank you, will do
I would like to introduce this program to seniors/nursing homes. Which package offered by your company would you suggest? Thanks
@@elisabattle8456 Take a look at our Parkinson's project here. I think you will find it interesting heroicsport.com/indian-club-exercises-parkinsons/
You can email me at TS@heroicsport.com with a bit more detail about what you're after. Ex: equipment and videos, number of people per class and so on. Ron and I will make a package best suited to you.
For all the over enthusiastic starters, you Mr Thierry really should mention, that this is nothing for 'heavy' clubs over 4kg maybe not even 2 kg! You'll shatter your wrists.
We hope that common sense prevails even though we are on UA-cam and in the age of law suits and disclaimers :-) This is a demo of skills, hopefully people are getting this, and the goal is s smooth fluid technique. if the swings become choppy, weight is probably too heavy. Which is why we desined the Pahlavandle, so that people can find the exact weight that suit their level of skills and strength.
What we know in the West as "indian clubs" are basically wooden clubs up to 2kg per piece. Metal clubs and Persian meels are not the same.
Best I can do this specific routine is with 3kg clubs. Anything over that, I must change the style of club swinging from open to closed style, and leave out some of the finer wrist circles.
