In the U.K. in the 90s we had Renaissance with Sasha, John Digweed, Dave Seaman, Ian Ossia, Anthony Pappa etc. They were the greatest nights. Deep slow progressive sets building and building up for hours. We would travel the country over when they went on Tour. Sasha is the only DJ still going from the 90s that I would still travel for today. Well, him and Carl Cox. The sets would build slowly then a massive drop and bring you down again afterwards before another build resulting in a massive crescendo towards the end of the night. Very few can do this layering effect now, music would ride like a roller coaster as the drugs took hold until the lights came on. Many DJs play predefined tracks or maybe even pre mixed. These were the days of 12 inch records, the DJ quickly looking through a massive box to find a record that was required for that stage of the night... very few modern DJs have the patience to create this journey now it’s all hit after hit after hit.... you need some filler to create the journey. We didn’t have all these fancy lights and lasers, a dark room with sweat falling off the ceiling, no mobile phones, you’d have to find someone wearing a watch to know the time or wait for the first glimpse of sun to come through the sky lights. Great times.
I would say Hernan is still going strong and newish guys like Guy J are really making some great Progressive House sets. Digweed and Warren are still very entertaining as well!
First saw Sasha when I was 17. I never liked any kind of techno, tech house, progressive, minimal type songs until I saw him. Completely changed the way I listened to music and haven’t looked back since. KING!
Same thing for me, I picked up a mate from Cape Town Airport back in 98 and he put on Sasha's San Francisco Global Underground mix in the car as we drove along Chapmans Peak drive (google it lol), an iconic, life changing moment in how I listened to music, how I appreciated it. The man is a God. I'm 42 btw :)
Caolan McCafferty well its gud to see that is still some hope in our youth still! Most kids ur age listen to nothing but straight garbage. You stay with Sasha, digweed, oakenfold, Carl cox and many more to list, but ya u will b ok, dont fry ur brain with mainstream muzik, dementia is not pretty from what I hear! 🤧🤣🤣🤣

So fortunate to be of an age and living in the midlands I got to see Sasha at Shelleys, The Eclipse, Venus & Renaissance. 28 yrs later I still follow him and have tickets for his Manchester Tour date in December. By far my favourite DJ.
Will never forget my first time seeing Sasha live (alongside John Digweed) at Shadow Lounge my first Winter Music Conference in South Beach. Simply the best!
KletoReese I remember the bathrooms at Shadow that looked into the women’s bathroom thru glass.😂😂 I got to give Sasha a brief handshake and hello as I was walking out.
The last 20 minutes of this are what Sasha is all about......classic atmospheric build ups and drops. Best set I've heard for a while from the man himself.
Such a blinding set !!! Consistently solid two hour set that definitely stands out as one of the best in the recent years. Heard and seen many of his set but this one is Special!! Excellent!
....I mean- he takes you along a steady ride the entire time. 5 minutes of intro into bliss... there is no other. I Listen to his sets and feel like I know him....perfectly seamless beatmatching...you are just right there with him....never has sold out. Is as true to his game as ever (and don’t get me started on the new barbicon xpander!)
@Thimble I don't think they meant playing at the festival. More so not converting to a mainstream edm dj. Not everyone could ha e lived near Shelley's at the correct time in history. Doesn't mean we are any less a fan of Sasha, or know what we are talking about
@@malcolmturnbear8584 . I'm a big fan of Sasha, but anyone and everyone can mix smoothly on CDJ'S, the have a BMP display so you know roughly where the pitch goes, also they have a sync button. Don't get me wrong I've heard him mix just as well mixing records live.
Through the dance music years, from the late Frankie Knuckles warehouse to now, there has never been a more skilled, thoughtful committed dj than Sasha. His abilities as both dj and producer is unparalleled. His knowledge and reading of the crowd in my opinion is what gives him the only seat at the very highest table. Thank you Sasha for being the greatest musical influence in my 44 years.
@OXW Production I grew up on breaks and it's still my favorite electronic music, but as I grew older I got into house more. There's a dope vibe to some of it, and until it "clicks" with you it definitely sounds like boring repetitive music. Some of it's straight cheese though. Sasha spins some really good house imo.
Very important statement and you're right. No hyperbole here. I listen to what he's putting out there, his label-LNOE, John Digweed, Above and Beyond and their label, and there is no sign of it slowing down or going away. Stronger than ever, the music, his genre. There's a new guy, Luttrell from San Francisco, who is an up and comer. There always will be up and comers putting out new, outstanding stuff, and then there he will be, remembered as the level of pioneer how you say.
Totally agree. He is creating music that is like classical music. Simply beautiful and emotional. Sasha absolutely rocks it and is on a different level.period.
Watching the crowd.....cant help but think how many don't realize just how close they are to TRUE greatness in this art form, an artist of unparalleled talent, quality and that we have been lucky enough to have our ears and hearts touched by this .....will only be when we are long gone, that it gets understood......after all......everything afterwards is exactly that......This is Sasha, this is what Faithless meant when they said - Tonight God is a DJ! #Wow Frikken WOW!
2022 and I still listen to this set in my living room. Besides, it's great that the audience felt the vibe of this set on the df. This is certainly a specific audience, who went to dance good music and not commercial "tum-parará". Anyway, this set is in my Top 50 best sets of all time. How much consistency in this set. Sasha didn't do a set, he told a story 📖 Who like John Digweed, "Major" Rush, Richie Hawtin, Chris Liebing, Umek, Jeff Mills, Carl Craig, Carl Cox, Markus Schulz (from the past, not the actual),... properly understand what I'm referring to. Good music is the key. 🎼🎶🎵🎹
i feel you, i thought exactly the same. No hate against all the DJs that pre record their sets they put a lot of work in and when they play it it's also very good, but doing all these transitions and mixing 2-4 songs together telling a story, building up the sensation everytime I hear those guys I can't help but to think that this is just another level. I love it!
It's unbelievable what passes for "good electronic" music now days, I was just watching Steve Aoki from 2023 and it was straight garbage, so lame, with two other dudes on stage with him who's purpose I still can't figure out, EDM is lame, IDM is af.
honestly one of the best DJ's, back in the day I would get hold of some of the records that were on his mixes and wonder why they didn't have quite the same effect outside of the mix.. just subtle things, slight change of tempo, where they come in and out and the order of the records.. and that's the art of DJ'ing.. but not many people can do it effectively
Sasha remains one of my favorites since I started listening to him in 1998. Inspired me to DJ (techno and trance). I finally saw him live in Dallas few years ago. He's back in Dallas this October 26 @ Stereo Live! Ticket is under $20 at the moment. I can't believe a ticket to see a legend like this is so cheap, while the mainstream artists are over $50 easily at this venue. I could easily pay more to support him.
While working in college radio in 2000, nothing that came across the “for promotion only” desk got me amped like Xpander by Sasha. This track, with all its various versions included on the promo CD, stood out from all the other records, from any genre. I played that song every Friday the whole Spring 2000 semester. I played it so much I was getting prank calls from the music director at the station requesting it (ha ha). I was a freak about it, I’d sometimes open and close with a different version of the song during my 2-hour show. I should have just called myself DJ Xpander. Any ways, this song got me even more excited about electronic music, I started to make my own mixtapes and hand them out to people [now a days no one has a way to play mixtapes on cassette, or even CD, so it’s a culture long gone, with the exception of some music enthusiasts]. I really didn’t know much about Sasha back in the day and was more focused on the sounds than the creators, as he really didn’t come around until after the late-1980s. Influenced by acid house, Sasha, sometimes referred to as DJ Sasha, was born Alexander Paul Coe in Wales, UK, and was a big part of the house music and trance scene in Europe and America. House music uses a lot of heavy bass beats with lots of other sounds going in and out throughout the songs. Like many electronic artists over the past 20 years, Sasha is a DJ, producer, and a host of events. Drawing crowds from all over the world. This song is a great combination of house and trance with some moments of the bass dropping out to allow for some transitions. The song starts out very melodramatic on some versions and builds up slowly and gradually brings into the trance it is intending you to go in. In the original version, the track has the signature house bass beat tying together all the other elements. Some moments feel a lot like some tracks off the 1970s album The Wall by Pink Floyd, which is another reason I love this track, with the continues high-hat rhythm. Being a drummer, I always listen for new ways to combine beats, sounds, and rhyme combinations that I can translate to my set drum kit. The truth is, I’m a futurist at heart, and love hearing new discoveries in sound design. I’ve watched electronic music get its start in the late 1970s and evolve from the urban rhythms and European club sounds to wild and magical experiences in sound. I love hearing new ways to manipulate sound waves and computer-generated audio. Africa Bambaataa was one of my first favorite producers that blended danceable beats with rap lyrics in his futuristic. Disco wasn’t my thing, but some great songs came from that genre. I like Techno, Dubstep, and Trance mostly. Some other producers that I love are Paul Hardcastle, Moby, Tiesto and Timbaland. I am excited about the future of electronic music.
i love the Wall, its probably my first introduction to eletronic mixing music, the other album are from Kraftwerk( with Neon Lights) and Concert in China by Jean Michael Jarre present by my older brother. i was only 7... listem everythyng from 80s on synthy pop evolution but allways im a huge fun for mixing eletrónic music particulary Deep, progressive, techno trance and probaly i know milions of different songs!! Sasha was on top of my list, the others are Digweed, Josh Wink for many reasons but there are so good many djs and producers. Quadrophonia... probably my intro to techno. Fierce Rulling Diva. and thousands next... Tracks from Dj Dag and the begeening from acid house to last records of progressive today! Emmanuel top was the beginning for me today i love to Cataneo, Guy J, Paul K , Laurent Garnier, Carl Cox and the magic Our portuguese Dj Vibe from years ago and Danny Tanaglia as well. im Shine mas i must to work and play to people as a Dj because i have a natural huge passion for music and feeling to push mix for other levels... love painting but music is a kind of art more elevate! i just need loose the fear! From Sasha Xpander its a opera d'art, I love so much Wavy Gravity as well! this is a great and strong way to Sasha mix! there are so many ways from Sasha Work From Break Beat, downtempo to trance until hard techno! true. *i talk about Pink Floyd the wall because is the first album mixed i heard... there are a great album who can listen Rock, Opera and Futuristic Eletronic music too... well i listen, everythyng on this set is emocional track selections, Fusion and Fx Works!! Sasha is simply great!!! my best regards!

MDMA and Ecstasy were the gateway for many, including myself, into truly appreciating and understanding dance music. To an outsider it may seem odd why there is so much repetition, but to an initiate its an essential ingredient - the transcendental path to euphoria... It is similar in essence to yogic mantra practices; by hearing or thinking the same thing over and over again, ones consciousness somehow rises up into a different state of awareness. One becomes awake to our own essential nature and the joy of being amongst the company of others. This may be called spiritual love, and it feels fantastic when your surrounded by others smiling and happy, dancing to the same rhythm, all surfing the same vibration of joyfulness...
I was at his first stateside performance at aahhzz in Orlando. He absolutely blew the roof off the place. He did several Renaissance nights in Orlando. Anybody that went to aahhzz back then will remember how special those nights were. Still my favorite DJ.

Quadrophonia...

One of my favorite dj ... its been long time good to see u on stage ....
Sasha is never boring... he always takes you on a true cruising experiance,
This stuff is legendary,,, After a long long time heard such a good set. This is proper Journey. Only Sasha can do it.
Sasha showcased why he’s the number one DJ of all time with a peak time large crowd set. He blew some minds with this one and reminded he world why he is still the best to ever do it. He had those people blowing up!!
most of these people wasn't born when o first saw sasha. which is a testament to this amazing dj.
This is amazing. I haven't heard Sasha play this heavy in a long time. It suits him, would love to hear more deep, banging sets from him these days.
the DJ, the lighting, the staging, the set, the crowd are all amazing!!! dope set Sasha #legend
Truly spiritual last 30 mins of an outstanding set by an outstanding performer. Bravo!
Merci Monsieur Sasha
Love your set, SASHA!😱🤙🏽🤗👏🏽😊 Your on fire bruh!🔥. You rock ELECTRONIC music!🙏🏽❤️😊
What a legend Sasha is. Consummate professional. His involvement in his sets is total, from start to finish.
This is the greatest set ever played at Tomorrowland .....
Nope, Boris Brejcha played way better set!
Bull shit, Avicii 2011
@@100thmegapixel probably one of the most viewed sets aswell, Boris kills it. But this set is up there with it, But Sasha is on a level. Taste to a particular sound also 🙏🏼✅
John Digweed at tomorrow land 2015 is epic👌
@@100thmegapixel boris' is more of a concert tbh he only played his own songs
No one transitions better. Sasha's global Underground 013 - Ibiza mix is one of the best ever, in this genre.
My first time seeing Sasha in Live was in Ibiza at Space 1999. I discovered a new music a new sound....the master of elegance and good style...
Good time to be around the scene that. Magic times, I wasn't a massive pill popper either.
On occasion though ;)
@@russyJ20 pills come and go just like a lot of cheap thrills in life but to experience it all together along with the music. No one can take that away from us
MDMA and Ecstasy were the gateway for many, including myself, into truly appreciating and understanding dance music.
Still my favorite DJ.
this set is amazing, nice, dark and heavy. like the good ol days. i wish he'd release a studio mix similar to this.

still outclassing any other circuit Dj truly a master of building a music vibe, well worth the travel to anywhere to listen to....its a pity most of the people are just posing and haven't got a clue what true rave is about or the love of the music...they are clueless!!!!
had pleasure to listen him and digweed in twilo NYC...epic..last Friday of every month residency
One of my favorites DJs in the world
Cool, but you should only have one favourite by definition
Darren Fenton that's why I said one of my favorites I do like more John Digweed, Carl Cox, Wally Lopez...
This set gets better and better the more I watch it and see this master display his craft.

sasha is one of my favorite dj, music is unique
Este es un DJ y no chingaderas pre-armadas. La musica te lleva a un sitio distinto y mágico sin tanta parafernalia ni morritos "guapitos". Lo mejor, pocas personas grabando y estropeando el show con sus celulares
LEGEND !!! This is real dance music and talent.
