  • My aunt and uncle wanted a home phone line. The problem is they didn't want to use a difficult smart phone. Instead, they wanted to use a traditional home phone!?
A landline with just local phone service cost about $60 with verizon/frontier.
Cut the Cord. I did some research and found that I could use a cheap cell service that offered unlimited phone and nationwide service that would cost anywhere from 10 to 25 a month.
The device I needed to bridge the gap between my cell phone and connecting it to a traditional land line phone was a cell2jack device that costs around $34-37
    www.cell2jack....
    www.amazon.com...
This is a video of me trying to setup my cell2jack so that I can use cell phone service over my tradition landline phone.
    It actually works pretty well.
    1. Use a modern phone with decent bluetooth.
    2. Have your phone close to the cell2jack to get the best performance and reception
    3. I suggest not using the cell2jack to charge your cel phone. Instead, just use separate power bricks for the cell2jack and cell phone.
In this video.. I tried using a pixel 3a google phone which works well. I couldn't really tell the difference between the old landline and now using cell service through bluetooth.
NOTE: there are some phones now that offer this technology without the cell2jack.
    Good luck!

This is pretty neat, I wonder if it could be used with a phone without a sim card but with wifi calling. Like do I need to use my actual phone or could I use a spare?

Actually!!!... You're right. You could use it with a phone without sim card. I think?
Sorry.... I need to try it when I visit my aunt/uncle.
I've actually attached a google voice # to their phone too.
It was able to receive calls.. but that's as much of a test I did. Hmmm.. now you've got me thinking.
      1. I could try it attached to an ipad that has the phone # connected with apple id??
      2. I could try using google voice on an android phone..
NOTE.. there are land home phones that support bluetooth connecting..
You just need to look for the feature "Bluetooth Connect to Cell"

The reason people attach these types of devices to their home phone wiring is so they can make every phone in the home ring. That usually works just fine as long as the wires are disconnected from the telephone company wiring. The only time I've seen a problem is when the devices ren(Ringer Equivalence Number)isn't high enough to support the connected phones. There are devices to increase the ren if that's an issue. Signs of an insufficient ren are low ring volume or no ring.

Howdy old-timer. If you know ren then you must be about as old as me.

they still do... and they charge an arm and a leg for just local service. Usually it's around $55+.
Some use it for fax.. others just like it for emergencies because of their fear that cel phones might stop working in an emergency??
MY aunt and uncle are older.. they just wanted the convenience of the land line phone (they didn't really need the service). Since moving them to the cell2jack bluetooth device.. they can't tell the difference between what they had before and what they use now.

Good idea for using a cell phone to feed home phone set. I would prefer setting up a VOIP with Obihai .

I considered that. The bigger issue was my aunt/uncle didn't have internet. Frontier internet was robbing them at $65 for 3mbps dsl. Don't get me started about how they lost (allowed there land line to be stolen) the land phone #.
Again.. since my aunt/uncle didn't have internet... I figured this was the cheaper option that offered service all the time.
NOTE: I actually got an unlimited plan through visible.. and used personal hotspot to provide them with wireless internet at 5mbps. It's enough for what they need to do.

I never leave comments but this was a great video. I love seeing smaller UA-cam channels that actually care. Keep up the good work my man!

It's not really UA-cam caring. if they actually cared they would fix their platform.
Its just UA-cam gives a recommendation boost to new videos, and sees how it performs. If it does well, and gets a high click ratio, it'll continue getting recommended, until it either fails going viral, or is good, and goes viral.
UA-cam also takes into account the view duration.

I'm just documenting things that happen.
People at work say I'm not helpful (hahahha). They also say I'm very difficult to approach.
My relatives would beg to differ (especially the older ones). I can spend ALOT of time going over these (what the young techies) call easy problems.
My Aunt and Uncle were paying $100 for internet and a landline.
I suggested to them that they could get phone plans with internet but they were really afraid of doing this. I didn't pressure them.. and just let them do things the way they feel comfortable. Eventually frontier internet did a number on my aunt/uncle... contributed to identity theft by losing/transfering their phone number and then charging them more by upgrading their internet/phone service.
Sorry.. I digress. I just like to post the stuff that happens in my life. I'm surprised it's helped alot of people! Have a good one!

      You're totally correct!
My friend who does travel videos and I have discussed this (he has watched alot of youtube videos discussing the youtube algo.. like what wreck it ralph 2.0 mentions)
I started doing youtube around 2013 as a joke. It was after watching real genius the movie (which is super old) that one of the geniuses enters a contest to a sweepstakes and ends up winning like 20% of the prizes because he entered for free thousands of times.
It made me think... what if I posted 1000-2000 videos... what would happen?
Needless to say.. you're right.. youtube has it's algo for determining what vidoes to show and what to boost.
But I'm happy to make a few hundred dollars on random videos I make 2-3 times in the week. If you can game the system.. why not?

@@Triro I'm not talking about youtube caring; I'm talking about smaller creators that care.
