Dylan O Brien got into a serious accident while filming the train scene, which nearly killed him, causing them to delay shooting while he recovered.
That little cheer he does when they're being carried away was actually Dylan breaking character for a second because he was proud of himself for getting through the scene.
This movie is so under rated, it’s my personal favourite from this series

I was thinking about it, and the way Thomas knew the water was deep enough before the three of them jumped was the barrel he broke the glass with - he watched it fall into the water and waited for it to surface to know how deep the water was? That's just my thought at least

Yes Newt dies in the book too. He writes a note to Thomas aka "Tommy" as he always called him, asking him to kill him when the time was right before he could turn into a crank or "Gone" as they put it in the book. they get separated for a while because he wasn't allowed into the city due to his infection and when he meets up with Thomas again, looking worse than he did before, he gets mad at Thomas because he wants Newt to come with them and doesn't seem to know that Newt wanted to die. Thomas hasn't read the note yet but after Newt tells him to go away he reads it and knows why Newt was so upset. Next time they see each other, Newt attacks him because he's gotten worse and tells Thomas how he got his limp. He used to be a runner but couldn't take it anymore and tried t kill himself in the maze by climbing halfway up the wall and jumping off. The fall didn't kill him but he figured the grievers would but he was found and rescued before night.
As Thomas and Newt continue to struggle and fight he once again begs Thomas to kill him, bringing forth one final shred of sanity saying "Please Tommy. Please."
Thomas closes his eyes, pulls the trigger and shoots Newt in the head.
Thomas swears to himself never to tell Minho what he did.

didn't he also figure out shortly after that he could've been saved? Newt's death always hit way harder in the books for me, because instead of him killing himself in a way to save Thomas, Thomas actually shot him himself
@@ConClasher3 Honesty I think the books and movie are equally tragic in different ways. In the book, we spend a chunk of time away from newt and only see moments of his progression (unless you read the crank palace novella then you get his full side). The books hurt in a completely different way. In the movie, Newt is with Thomas the Whole time and we see him progressively get worse and worse as it goes on. Also a big difference that lends to the tragedy is that in the books there WAS n cure s Newt situation was completely helpless while in the movie, there WAS a serum/cure that was literally SECONDS away from Newt before he died. They were so close to helping him which made it hurt all the more. Also Thomas Brodie Sangster's acting in the movie is just phenomenal. I re-watched the full movie on my own time and was literally bawling during the whole scene with the same intensity I was crying when I read the book. I personally don't like to compare the books and movies because apart from the first one, they really are too different. But both versions knew that Newt is best boy. (i do wish they kept the deleted scene of Newt telling Thomas about his suicide attempt though. It's an important part of his character and I wish we got it in the full movie)
@@reigningrockets I definitely agree with how both the book and the movie are equally tragic in their own ways. What broke me was how in the books, Thomas and Newt's final reunion was the latter yelling at how much he hated him, how much he despised him until Thomas finally pulled the trigger. In the movie, Newt stabbed himself, and before that he gave him a goodbye letter, telling him how grateful he was for their friendship. Whereas the last note Newt gave him in the books was a request to kill him if they were ever friends.
I realized earlier as well, how the same "please tommy, please" was kept in both medias yet were used in different situations. In the books, Newt used those words while begging him to kill him. While in the movies, he used it while begging him to take his necklace, which held his goodbye letter to his friend. It's so different yet equally heartbreaking.
@reigningrockets. I agree that they should’ve kept the deleted scene of him telling Thomas about his attempted suicide, it does bring a lot to his character. Also Newt is one of my favorite characters in any franchise EVER, so his death is the most I’ve ever cried in my life. Literally my eyes were full of tears. I’m learning to play the song that plays when he reads Newt’s letter and I can’t stop crying. 😭😭😭😭

In the books Teresa does die in the fire.
The ending of the books is that there was no cure, so the immune went through a flat trans (some futuristic teleportation device) to some isolated domain and restarted civilisation, while the rest of the world perished 👍🏻
Also Teresa IS the worst, in the books she had mental communication between Aris and WICKED the whole time and actually had her full memory whilst in the maze.

literally the only way i can ever stop myself from crying when watching, reading or even THINKING about Newt’s death and the way he’s never even had the chance to be happy is if the author either brings him back (ALONG WITH HIS MEMORIES) or confirms that Thomas and the others reunite with Newt in like the afterlife or something like that. till then i’ll be crying myself to sleep every time i think about anything that has to do with maze runner :)

In the book Teresa dies by being crushed by a collapsed building saving Thomas's life so her death here was pretty accurate. If you read the prequel books you'll understand her motivation pretty well. She loved Thomas but also wanted wicked to succeed.
possible book sppoiler (idk) but as far as i remember, newt was also killed by thomas in the book and theresa also died while the others escaped to this safe haven. i think she was crushed by the falling pieces of the building while she saved thomas, but i'm not sure

I love the trilogy. It's such a good time when you just sit, watch, and enjoy the movie for what it is! Loved your reaction to this one. I actually like Teresa's Character, but she was frustrating around 30% of 100%. I was literally looking up the movie now and I just realized that the movie was made with a budget of only 62$ Million Dollars. Like HELLO? HOW? What technical wizardry did they use to keep the budget that low and make it look that good? 😅
You were nicer about Teresa than some of the other reactors. Some people refuse to even give her any credit for helping Thomas but you did, despite not liking her. I admire that.

The book and movie version of this end of the story are very different but still hold a lot of the key threads even if done, again, vastly different… I still really enjoy both! But… the books win it for me 😂

American assassin for a Dylan O'Brien action movie
if you haven’t already you should totally watch/react to the death cure cut scenes. some of them are really funny(?) and some contain important lore
(Before reading further, be warned there are some "Maze Runner" saga book spoilers. It's assumed you've seen all the films at this point.)
If you know your classics, the "Maze Runner" is a retelling of Theseus and the Minotaur, of course. I'm not alone in making this connection, but it's a surprisingly select club. That's rather sad. Naturally, Thomas is Theseus, the hero. The Glade and the Gladers are Athens and Athenian youth, respectively. The Grievers are the Minotaur, the monster that feeds on the Athenian youth who have been offered as sacrificial victims. The Minotaur is half man, half bull. The Grievers are half organic, half machine. The WCKD mechanism that's found in the crushed Griever is Ariadne's thread, the key out of the maze. WCKD is King Minos, which rather coincidentally sounds like Minho. The maze motif is repeated in the "Scorch Trials" and "Death Cure."
The Glade's Athens is, however, more like "The Lord of the Flies" than classical Greece. Themes in that well-known classic include the tension between groupthink and individuality, between rational and emotional reactions, and between morality and immorality. Things which we do see play out in Thomas and the Gladers. Consider Alby's interactions with Thomas. He sees Thomas as different, curious. He seems to be warning Thomas not to be a nonconformist. Alby makes Thomas sign a contract of sorts with the Glade by having Thomas etch his name on the wall. The crossed out names may represent prior non-conformists. When Thomas notices them, Alby says somewhat menacingly: "Those were dark days." George's name is highlighted for us. Later, Thomas finds George's partially buried remains. Interestingly, this dark place of death is where Ben attacks Thomas. In the second film, we discover George is Brenda's brother, and George looks like Thomas. So was George a Thomas-like precursor in the Glade? Did George break the rules and did that lead to his death?
Thomas is the archetypal tragic hero. Tragic heroes are characters of elevated stature, both in birth and morality. Like most heroes, he has above-average intelligence, which means he has situational awareness; he's determined, which means he is firmly set in opinion or purpose; and he has a loyal close friend who guides, advises and helps him as he faces his trials. In the films, Newt clearly fits the role as Thomas' helper, his Ariadne. The Theseus myth also emphasizes the power of love. Ariadne helps because she has fallen in love with Theseus.
As a tragic hero, Thomas is subject to a collective fate, the will of the gods, if you will, which had precipitated the solar flares that scorched the Earth and indirectly brought about the Flare virus. A common attribute of the tragic hero is that he once held a lofty position from which he has now been cast down. Thomas' hamartia has visited his own individual fate upon himself which prompts his present adventure-journey. His moral choices while part of WCKD led him to immoral behavior, the torture and deaths of his friends. In this way, Thomas assumed the role of a god over the Gladers. That's hubris. Humans, even if they're heroes, have to be taught they are not a god. Thomas' eventual rebellion precipitated his downfall and the tragic course his subsequent life followed.
Tragic heroes suffer, and so Thomas suffers. He suffers because of his lost status, he suffers because of his past actions, he suffers because he's lost his identity and been condemned to the trials, he suffers because he's been betrayed, and he suffers most because of the deaths of companions he lost along his adventure-journey. Although Thomas' flaw is great, he has our sympathy, and we pity him. Ultimately Thomas' suffering leads him to an epiphany at the end of the third film. By this time, Thomas has gained the strength to accept his destiny which he will meet even if it means his death. Tragic heroes almost always die. This is without doubt what the epilogue of the final film means. Thomas is going back to the WCKD world, and he is going to offer himself up as a cure even if it means his life. Unlike the books, film Thomas is not going to remain in the Safe Haven with Brenda to live happily ever after. Even though WCKD's HQ was destroyed along with the city, there were more than one WCKD lab and installation referenced in the films. It's a pity there wasn't a forth film made where we would see our hero, Thomas, noble to the end, achieve his ultimate destiny and be reunited with Newt in the Elysian Fields. That would have made a very good trio into a great quartet.
It seems incredible but heroic stories often follow the same basic pattern. In his book "The Hero with a Thousand Faces," Joseph Campbell, distilled the world's myths into a common structure which he called the monomyth or hero's journey. It's very concisely summarized as follows: A hero ventures forth from the world of common day into a region of supernatural wonder: fabulous forces are there encountered and a decisive victory is won: the hero comes back from this mysterious adventure with the power to bestow boons on his fellow man. That's the "Maze Runner" film saga in a nutshell.
Very broadly, the films actually do follow the outline of the books, but differ in detail markedly. Personally, I prefer the films to the books. It's a matter of taste, I suppose. The books are darker than the films. That doesn't mean I didn't like the books. They held my interest, and I look forward to reading "The Fever Code." People frequently complain because a film doesn't follow a book exactly. There are obvious reasons why this is rarely possible, and it's often not even desirable. Books and films are two different art forms. There are different creative impulses at work in each. People need to understand the "Maze Runner" books and films as depicting two separate universes which, although inhabited by the same people facing similar challenges, evolve differently. They are going to diverge, and vive la difference! If all is done well, and the films were done very well, it doubles the fun.
There were a couple of striking differences between the books and the films that really stood out to me. Although book Thomas may be heroic, he's not a tragic hero like film Thomas, at least in my opinion. Book Thomas often thinks things like I didn't really know those Gladers so I wasn't affected when they died in that horrible manner. Cold and unfeeling, right? That's not film Thomas at all. Book and film Thomas are two different people. Also unlike film Thomas, it's clear book Thomas hasn't been transformed in any substantial way by the end of his adventure-journey. There's no epiphany or moment of self-realization. He's merely completed his trek. He's had adventures along the way, experienced bad times and lost travelling companions, but it's all over now, and that's that. Time to settle down. Book Thomas is more like Odysseus come back to Ithaca to be with Brenda, his Penelope.
In the first film, Thomas' dream-visions hint at his backstory and make his character ambiguous. Is Gally right about him? Then there is Theresa. In our hero's adventure-journey, Theresa clearly represents the monomyth's temptress who tries to derail him. Unlike Thomas, she completely breaks the Glade's paradigm. Her arrival is untimely, she's female, and she heralds the end of the Glade's supply lifeline. Totally inauspicious. Kaya Scodelario does a good job of making her character seem suspect from the get-go. There always seems to be a mistrust-invoking aura about her. There are interesting parallels between Theresa and Thomas. Both Theresa and Thomas are betrayers. Which one is evil depends on your answer to the films' theme: Does the end justify the means? They both want a cure for the Flare. However, Theresa/WCKD are ruthless in pursuit of a cure, willing to sacrifice however many young people it takes. Thomas, on the other hand, is completely altruistic. He will sacrifice himself but not others. How can you not but admire and love Thomas?
One thing about the tragic hero motif is that those nearest and dearest to the hero often wind up either in some sort of deadly peril or just plain dead. Most often, it's dead. So as you're watching the films you might ask yourself: Who's closest to Thomas?
The Flare virus is the "Maze Runner" saga's MacGuffin. Therefore, you really shouldn't try to make too much out of it. The "Maze Runner" trials mean to precisely isolate and produce the curative enzyme so humanity can be saved even if it means killing the immunes.
The WCKD agenda begs the question of does the end justify the means, a principle often associated with totalitarianism, which is the central theme of the "Maze Runner." The principle is part and parcel of consequentialism, a teleological theory that says whether an action is morally good or bad depends on its outcomes. The more good outcomes outnumber the bad, the better/more moral the action. Under this rubric if WCKD finds a cure, then WCKD is very good, indeed.
To sum up, these are very good and quite entertaining films which touch upon deep waters. Well-acted and well-crafted, too. The production crew and the actors together created an excellent trilogy.
I just gotta say, I have never been so damn early to one of Ange's videos.

lord of the rings is might not be one of the most accurate book to movie adaptations, but it sure as hell is one of the best. story is great, music is amazing, characters are well written, and though trilogy may be long its paced really well. definitely worth considering reacting to!

Theresa is a traitor. She may have had good intentions, but she took the easy path.

This was an extremely underrated trilogy. I don't get why people say the 1st was the only good one. I personally thought Scorch Trials stepped it up a ton and was overall way better in terms of action, thrills and more of a horror aspect added in.

Personally think the books were a little "too far out there", but the movies are just a little "too grounded". Something in between would have been perfect. But overall both were 5/5's for me. And Brenda is the best.

I do really like this franchise, and no worries, I also hate Teresa all the way. And I hate when movies does that trope, a character do something really horrible, endanger everyone and betray all the trust they have with the only bad excuse of " I thought it was right" like they are not hearing everyone else telling them they are on the evil side, just for them at the end say "my bad, sorry" right before dying and everyone kinda forgiving them for just that ONE action and forgetting all the harm they caused.

20:27 Teresa’s death in the books was much worse. They have most contrived plot line with her in the second book where she “betrays” Thomas but actually she didn’t betray him, it was just a part of the trails, then she’s barely in the third until the very end where she dies because she got crushed by rubble. THAT’S HOW SHE DIES!!! Her death in the movies was stupid too but it wasn’t as pathetic as what happened to her in the books in my opinion.

I understand why people didn't like Theresa. Everything worsened because she betrayed the group. I hated her too but the ending made me respect her again.
She could have jumped on the aircraft but decided not to. She thought that she didn't deserve to keep living while other's like newt are dead because of her. At the end she understood the consequences and pain of her actions and took her own life. It's crazy that i'm saying this about Theresa but that was very selfless of her and it made the ending more bitter.
