- My fave thing in Watermouth Castle. This is Captain Andy’s River Towne Band. They were made in America for the River Towne Restaurant Company (a restaurant like Chuck E. Cheese). This set were brought by a UK theme park called Thorpe Park, then went to another theme park before ending up at Watermouth Castle.
The band were in a theatre building and the show played every half an hour from 12 noon to 5pm. The show was about 5 mins and I adored watching it. The main stage had Captain Andy and 4 other dogs. On the side of the theatre behind glass is 3 cats, 2 frogs and a Hippo. At the back of the theatre was a bird/seagull. It looks like originally, in the River Towne Restaurants, all the characters were on stage but the theatre in Watermouth Castle is quite small so they have spread the characters around the theatre.
My fave character was Captain Andy, I also loved the cats. The show looked to be in great condition which I was so happy about. I love it when people love and look after animatronics. There aren’t many chances to see animatronics in the UK which means I sadly haven’t seen many in real life, so watching Captain Andy and his band was an amazing experience.
These look like they were ripped straight out of a cartoon, I love it! If only they were in better condition... Can only hope they'll be fixed up eventually

They actually are in really good shape, cosmetically and mechanically. Although the programming is pretty bad and it doesn’t utilize the characters to their full potential which is sad. This is a pretty cool band

It's unfortunately not there anymore. All American operations of the original entertainment centers shut down. This is also the last working and public set in the entire world to my knowledge as well. I also remember hearing somewhere that the mechanics of the characters have been replaced as well.
The characters have such cute designs!

There was a Rivertowne in Baltimore County MD when I was very young/small. All of the characters were on stage back then, with extensive dialogue, the frog's wife often threatening him with the rolling pin, and the extravagant Hippo doing songs Mae-West style, including a version of the Creedence Clearwater (most famously performed by Ike & Tina Turner ) Proud Mary.
I was there too. Loved that place.

i remember that too. that female hippo was my absolute favorite act. i also liked the three girl cats.
One of the kids I was in cub scouts with had his birthday party there.It's a Dollar Tree now.

They aren’t programmed they use hydraulic systems, which is why the keep on repeating the same motions.
To “program” them better would to rip out their hydraulics and put in new ones, which would be a lot harder than writing a few new lines of code.
sir smoss all animatronics are powered by hydraulics, and they are programmed lol. Even Disney animatronics are powered by hydraulics, there is a better way of programming them. I just think because it’s so old the technology to program them is outdated or would be too hard to convert.

This was back when the show was so much larger, had completely different performances, and was so much more animated. They played in several restaurant locations in the 80s.

This was built for a concept restaurant and video arcade that we would go to when I was kid in the early 80s...

@@twistedtwistan5576 in the 80s people didn't give it any thought it was all over pop culture dukes of Hazzard reruns Looney tunes cartoons...the pizza time theatre /CEC Had a bunch of programmed waving flags in the show s ceiling and the confederate flag was definitely one of them in my local restaurant in the 80s!

The characters themselves are in great condition, but the mechanics seem to be on their last legs. The mouths barely sync up (broken decoders or stuck valves), the motions are jerky (improperly set air pressure). Some movements don't seem to work at all. Animatronics aren't really seen as profitable these days, so often they fall into dysrepair as they're not deemed worth fixing and tuning.
I'd gladly fix up these animatronics! Poor things
That captain dog animatronic is from stew leonards
You must be confused with another animatronic. The dog in Stew Leonard’s name was “Colonel Beauregard” but both him and Captain Andy aren’t the same animatronic
