Princess Margaret: The Trouble with Townsend (2020) Royal Family Divorce, British Scandal

Поділитися
Вставка
  • Опубліковано 10 гру 2023
  • Princess Margaret is known for her glamour. She may have been the center of gossip but will be remembered for standing out amongst Royal stereotypes.
Princess Margaret, little sister of Queen Elizabeth II, struggled throughout her life to balance an independent spirit and artistic temperament with her duties as a member of Britain’s Royal family. From her dramatic almost-marriage to her very public divorce, Margaret’s turbulent love life dominated the Royal Family spotlight for years.
The Princess’s romantic entanglements were the stuff of rumor, tabloid speculation and scandal, yet they played a critical role in modernizing Royal love along the way. Hand in hand with her marriage was her shocking divorce, which almost became her unwritten legacy, and normalized Royal divorce for the future generations, despite the backlash she faced at the time.

I met her. She looked continuously around to see if there was somebody more important she could talk to.
    Arrogant,grand, big ‘spare’ complex.
Duty my foot- she didn’t want to give up her privileges and perks.

She could have married Townsend. But she would have had to give up all the perks and privileges of being a Royal. She chose the royal lifestyle over Townsend. So if she was miserable she only had herself to blame.😮

Before his death, George VI was aware of his daughter Margaret's affection for and growing attachment to Peter Townsend. He thought time and distance would ease her feelings for Townsend. Of course, once her father died, Margaret became even more closely attached to and enamored of Townsend.

Come on, Mr. so-called biographer! Margaret was likely counseled to write that letter, most likely to ensure she would be allowed to see Townsend upon his return to England. If there was any doubt, it was not coming from the hearts of either Margaret or Townsend. Surely they had devised a way of staying in touch, despite being separated. Clearly, the letter was filed away to suddenly be discovered years after Townsend & Margaret were dead and could no longer speak their truth. 😢 The government is solely interested in being absolved of their role in the tragedy of Princess Margaret's sad life. There has been such spin in recent years surrounding Margaret & Townsend, which is clearly an attempt to 'rewrite' their love story. Mr. biographer is twisting himself into a pretzel to try and get recent generations to believe this distorted rewrite. To get new generations of royal observers to both pity and to blame Margaret and Townsend for falling in love, and for being denied fulfillment of their love. Sure, sure, it's all their fault. 🙄 The British government was solidly against Margaret and Townsend marrying, and that never changed. Margaret was most assuredly told, in no uncertain terms, that she would lose everything if she married Townsend. The deal that her sister, the Queen, tried to broker for Margaret to retain her HRH and royal status and still marry Townsend, fell through. Thus, faced with the loss of everything she'd known, including her personal identity, Margaret gave up Townsend. The look on Margaret's face in that car, after her statement was released, is a look of utter heartbreak and devastation.

I think her life could be different if she really listened to her heart, let be stripped of titles and money and wouldn't regret it in the name of love. So hard decision.

Yes, she lived a privileged life BUT,it all turned to hell for her when he sister betrayed her - betrayed the promise they both gave to their father & broke margaret’s heart. After that, margaret was ruthless, full of hate, resentment, depression, alcoholism, suicidal. She had no will to live. Then married anthony, who cheated on her left right & center & not only with women.
After watching the netflix show (which the royals hated becauae all they showed was the TRUTH) i realized how ruthless the ex queen of england was - not only towards her sister, but to her children, especially charles. She once said “for me it’s my horses, then my dogs, then my husband and finally children.” Sickening statement & i hated her ever since. And yes, it’s because of her that Princess Diana died. It was no accident. It was planned. That woman ruined so many lives - her sister’s, her children’s (just look at them) and ending Princess Diana’s life & God only knows how many more and let’s not forget Saville was a regular visitor at the palace & NO ONE can convince me that she didnt know what he was doing to young children!
