understanding what the value of an MA is
what it means when the market rejects it
what it means when the market breaks it
I use MAs as direction.
If i told you that a rejection of support followed by a cross of EMA 9 always found it's way to resistance or more in a bullish trend. Or the a rejection of resistance followed by a cross in bearish went to support. check it out. the odds of this are stupid high.
what ema do u use for rejection? also any other ema for more trend filtering?

My favorite MA is the EMA 9
But i could also suggest the SMA 20 or 50.
These are not hard lines in the sand.
The market could close on the wrong side only to blast right back through again.
So there are some rules.
Allow the current candle to close.
If that rejects then the reversal is likely.
It also helps to see a support area at this point. If you spot one. You're good.
If there is uncertainty then i would advise waiting just a little bit. Waiting an M5 candle can often show you all you need to know for confirmation.
As i like to set up on M15 and use M5 is the trading chart. This is what i do if i'm not overly confident.
And interestingly enough the EMA 9 plays a nice role here as well.
The 9 is a key point.
Breaking and holding the other side of the 9 is going someplace.
To the 20...the 50... Support zone.
So if i'm trading a bullish trend the MAs are all below me. But i've probably crossed the 9 to get here. A recross of the 9 is a really positive signal it's going back to resistance or beyond.
a rejection of the 9 is likely to return to support. effectively double bottoming. and that's a good spot to enter if it does that.
So... it's a what do i see thing.
Keep in mind that MAs represent an average price. People have been willing to buy above the MA and now it has retraced to the MA. Odds are very high it's going up.
to avoid clutter
you could effectively mark up your support areas on your time frame
Stick an EMA 9 on the chart
and wait for the 9 to break and hold
don't just see it break and enter... oh bad idea.
live does not play fair. lol
even in good moves there is doubt.
If it breaks against trend. it's likely to find support below. and retrace back on trend
if it rebreaks on trend. You can safely tag the top or bottom depending on trend direction. it's probably breaking that.
where is stop loss?
well. if you are on M15. then stop loss is one M5 support zone lower. set the SL below this point a little.
so you are finding M15 support and tagging one M5 zone lower plus a little.
Ya... you are going to eat some pips when this fails.
put it this way.
Today i am watching gold run around.
i saw an upwards trend that appeared to be finding some resistance to the upside.
So i am considering a possible pullback on H4 to build momentum to punch up.
around 6 pm PST i saw the price hit the H1 20 and reject it. This is H1 so i am waiting 1 to 2 H1 candles. and i'm interested where H1 resistance is.
i waited 5 minutes.
still going up
I bought at 1769.
About 2 hours later it hit resistance at 1772.
that translates to $300 USD per lot profit.
and i sold that at resistance. pocketing another $200 the other way.
Once you have one entry. Ride the waves.
When you close it you are convinced it's reversing right? Trade that.
Which timeframe please?
I'm done with ema and sh!t, found the indicator and the only indicator you need for a successful trade. That'll make you say f*ck the charts and the market trends.

What if, 1st candle is open high and coming candle open low, what would be the case in that scenario please? Example: 20-Dec-22 BANKNIFTY time 9:20&9:25 candle in IST timings
Many people may not aware of term Open=High and Open=Low. This means when at the closing of Candle, the Opening Price (ie Open) is found exactly same as Highest Price of Candle (not a fraction change) we will say that Open is equal to High.
Similarly, when Opening price is exactl found as Lowest Price of the Candle...we shall say Open = Low.
Strategist strictly believe that there should not be even having a difference of fraction.
What about XAUUSD...do we use the same rules.

Sir,I have traded this strategy for the last 10 years & it makes money.Please back test it & publish the results
NON DIRECTIONAL STRATEGY
You could test the strategy on instruments which have high liquidity & trade around the clock--let us say forex & high volume US indices to start with.All orders are Limit order & orders are entered end of each day based on closing prices(EOD).For Forex pairs end of NY session is END OF DAY.
On A given instrument(say Eur/Usd) limit order is placed to buy(or sell) at A distance " D" which is (70% of average daily ATR) away from the closing price EOD.Take profit (TP) & stop loss (SL) distance is 50% of that distance (D)--every order is all complete order on the same ticket.Only one order/day on the instrument.Win or lose--no trader intervention,market decides when take profit or stop loss gets hit.On that instrument orders are entered on both sides, Long & short at the same time.
All open orders get cancelled at the end of that day & new orders are entered based again on end of day new prices.Orders are placed on multiple different currencies to diversify risk(both dollar pairs & cross currencies as well).Risk capital on any instrument is 1% of account equity only.
Rationale--Markets are random but fractal in nature.Distance travelled in a given time span is based on square root of time.TRADING EDGE comes from the fact that from End of day INITIAL price the TP is closer compared to SL & chances of hitting TP are higher than hitting SL--and when TP is hit,then stop loss order gets cancelled right away..If one month option is priced $1--then 4 month option should cost $2. Distance travelled in 4 months is square root of 4.Option premium formulas are not ALLperfect but billions of $$ trade based on that formula & market makers make $$, no matter where the market goes/or does not go.At the money Call & put cost the same--take your pick.
